I get why people hate found-footage movies nowadays, but I have to admit that, apart from REC, there are some pretty underrated horror flicks of that genre, such as "Devil's Pass" or "the Tunnel". Definitely worth a try

Most found footage movies were just trying to ride the popularity of Blair Witch and had the camera shaking constantly. I liked the way Chronicle did it through. Between the psychic powers stabilizing the camera and security cam footage it was all nicely focused while still being found footage.

@@FTZPLTC Yeah, like partway through the movie, they just ditched the found footage format and went right into a regular movie format, which kinda breaks the vibe they had going for the series. Also, the massive amounts of "hold on guys, we're gonna make it" only for those guys to NOT make it from out of left turn kinda made all the people introduced along the way into pointless NPCs. The newlyweds ALMOST made it out intact, until she got bit in the arm.

The Spanish version of REC is so superior to the American remake. In the US one, it’s not even a demon-spawned virus, I think it was like rabies or something, which is ridiculous. If you’ve never watched either, AVOID the American version, go straight for the Spanish one. It is far scarier and feels more real and horrifying. I usually like most US remakes, but here it sucks, don’t even bother. Also watch with subs rather than dubs, it’s more real that way…

To me, as a warhammer 40k nerd, I always thought this was like a thing that would happen with Nurgle cultists. They'd try and make a disease to spread the "gifts" of Nurgle which he does actually make zombie virus' in 40k but the twist is that the person is still fully in there seeing everything their body does but can't do anything at all about it. Of course you'd never know it when a horde of infected civilians are throwing themselves onto your Rhino APC trying to bite you or claw through the ceramite to get at you to spread their putrid gift.

Finally! I was waiting for you to process these films. For me, the first part definitely wins, followed by the second (along with the comic). Others lack the tension and unexpected images that you can best achieve with Found footage. It's a shame that they split up when directing and changed the filming style because the story was strong. I prefer Quarantine over Rec tbh, the creation of the virus as a bioweapon is more grounded and more terrifying. The possession stuff took me out of it a bit, but great analysis nonetheless and I’m glad people are still talking about this series.

I don't know, the idea of zombie bioweapons is very overrated. I like the idea of combining both biological and paranormal stuff, it is an idea that needs to be more used rather than the run of the mill zombie bioweapon concept. I like the idea of people just spiking bullets in holy water to kill and exterminate possessed zombies, it's very badass.

You should review a film from my homeland of Bohemia/the Czech Republic a film called Svatba upírů It's about young english noble visiting prague with his uncle. Later the young nobleman meets a beutifull noblewoman that he falls in love with but later discovers that she and her abusive "husband" the count are vampires and are part of secrect vampire noble society but power of love inside of our hero is strong so he desides to save the noblewoman and defeat the powerfull master vampire.

I highly recommend it for people who are just like you and enjoy this type of movie. I'm not a big fan of found footage, Cloverfield gave me a headache trying to watch the whole thing, but I really enjoyed this movie, and the jump scares are GREAT!

@@coganLollins TEMU is owned by PDD HOLDINGS and its sister company Pinduoduo (which is a *massive* platform in China, an absolute behemoth) Anyway, Pinduoduo was very recently *suspended* by Google because it contained serious MALWARE. The amount of sellable information Pimduoduo is stealing from users is shocking. Temu has very similar strategies (though it’s labeled as “less” aggressive in tactics than Pinduoduo) BUT that doe not mean there isn’t some misappropriation of stolen data happening. Temu has *not* been caught doing anything untoward YET. Okay, moving along: Temu is also being extremely disingenuous when offering “free shipping” & not being transparent about HOW they can offer said “free” shipping and WHO exactly is paying for it. Without putting you into a bordem coma. Let’s just say it has to do with the Universal Postal Union (UPU), an agency with the U.N. (United Nations). For over 100 years they’ve set international postal rates for the various countries in the U.N. blah, blah, blah…currently, Chinese companies like Temu' use an UPU technical loophole to offer “free” shipping. Bottom line is it’s the US’s taxpayers who are paying for the “free” shipping.. (As an aside, there is something to be said against TEMU’s terrible labour practices. Realistically though that’s a much larger problem, across the board, in so many companies located within that region of the globe). Anyway, If you want to know more details about how all this “free” shipping claims work specifically, please Google: The UPU; The 1969 introduction of terminal dues; The UPU’s Postal Development Indicator (this is the loophole allowing Chinese companies, like Temu, to be categorized as Group III , it’s their outdated categorization as a very poor, *undeveloped/developing* nation for the purpose of international mailing. Also, Google the terminal fee modifications in recent decades; The PDD HOLDING LLC and Pinduoduo vs Google Play store. Hopefully this all will help you understand (if you are interested) as to why TEMU’s free shipping is dishonest and it’s NOT free for the USA at all. Between data theft and scamming taxpayers, they are an absolutely terrible company to do business with and should be avoided at all costs. The Movie REC 1 to 4 are all good and double thumbs up for me and my most favorite is number 2 and 4 while the Wedding or the 3rd installment are pretty good but its missing something and the devil worm is not yet killed it commands the new host which is the fish to go to japan and eat nuclear waste to become Shin Godzilla haha sorry I'm just kidding I think that fish (barracuda) will become possessed and soon becomes a new cause of zombie outbreak in other part of the world I hope spain will make another installment of The Rec

The ending of Rec4 always had me puzzled aswell. It looks as if the parasite swam into the fish's mouth for sure. But several questions come to mind.. CAN it even possess a fish? And if so, can it get the parasite anywhere meaningful? However, the biologist in me (several years of university) noted that the fish actually has teeth. This can indicate that it's a species that not just "swallows the prey whole" but actually shreds it. In that case, seeing how very fucking quickly fish can move and react, there's a roughly 90% chance that the parasite wouldn't have been able (looking at it's body not being adapted to aquatic movement), to enter the fish quickly enough, before being caught by it's teeth, and thus really being shredded to pieces. In a biblical sense, it can also make sense. Yes, the demon managed to effectively subdue mankind and was looking at a promising conquest.. but "God" is not just in men, but also in nature. And seemingly, he took the chance to beat the fiend on another battlefield.
