I hope you enjoyed this video about the demon inside lot 36. Guillermo del Toro's cabinet of curiosities on netflix was enjoyable to watch and like I said in the video, I might cover another episode from this anthology series eventually.
I am currently working on a video about dog soldiers and Being human TV series. I have been thinking about covering american horror story as well but always let me know what you want to see

The most stupid part is not the whole '' I don't believe thing '' , but the fact there was a corpse, with a thing in it moving, over a pentagram. Even if he didn't believe anything, that was a crime scene. The whole writting of this particular episode on this character was just stupid. Plus that Mexican woman, wanting to go into the lot 36 for whatever reason also made no fucking sense. It was left clear that the only owner was that German nazi family.

I think it also carries a more symbolic message about Nick’s character, that being his greedy and self centered philosophy. Throughout the story, Nick is shown to be only interested in himself and completely fixated on resolving his own issues before addressing anything or anyone else. This manifests itself in Nick as a form of obliviousness to things or people that he believes are insignificant in regards to helping himself yet could pose a threat later on (for example he cared little for what the old man was carrying to the storage locker everyday, he ignored Emilia’s request to retrieve her familial items, took no mind that the locker had Nazi imagery and Occult objects, and above all took little interest in a decaying corpse harbored by a demon that was surrounded by a Pentagram). Although appearing odd at first, when you consider that Nick is only interested in what is to what could be gained for himself, it makes sense that he would ignore the foreboding signs and messages such as the whispering.

@@ethancrenshaw3936 The camera panned over the body, revealing the writhing tentacles only once _WE_ as the audience could stare down its throat. From his angle, Nick could see the hole but not its contents. Furthermore, the body was the victim of a now-dead stranger he cared little for and he was under a great deal of pressure to not only satisfy his greed, but collect the $10,000 sufficient to pay his debts to the fellow who busted up his car and his forehead ASAP. As he saw it from the doorway, a greater prize just beyond to which his eyes were peeled, it was nothing but legal headaches and another's ancient, sordid business. Had it NOT been possessed, I'm sure he would've gotten what he'd come for; close up the passageway, and forget the business entirely without having to notify the authorities, file an extensive police report (that might've entailed the repossession of his tome and an investigation into his less than above-board container dealings), and cost him the good graces of his associate that ran the place (i.e. "you bring the police into my business and you kiss your inside spot goodbye"). Regardless however, the enjoyment of fiction demands the suspension of disbelief and giving credit to characters who are not in possession of the knowledge _you_ as _the audience_ possess. Unlike us, fictional characters generally don't know they're in horror movies and it's all too human to distance one's self from the outlandish "things that go bump in the night" as mere figments of our imagination and that whatever _we_ see in horror movies could never happen to us. As far as he knows, he's got very little time to make a sh|tload of cash to cover his ass and make out like a bandit and another faceless corpse is little different from the mangled carcasses he no doubt stepped over and contributed to as a Vietname serviceman. _YOU_ would be disturbed but, to him, it's just another set of putrefying remains that's laying in his way. Food for thought.

But whatever, his sister only vanished after the family had arrived in America.

Notice that it did little to save Sebastian Roché's occultist character, Roland, when the demon ignominiously swallowed him. Other than that, I'm more inclined to believe _this_ theory than that of the gold tooth fillings, which had substantially more utility in either extraction, concentration, and trade to pragmatically sustain The War Effort *AND/OR* for the arcane, calculative research of the Ahnenerbe-Abteilung, SS (specifically their own, internal _Abteilung Numerische Analyse_ or "Numerical Analysis Department"), where theretofore copper circuitry was replaced and soldered with the gold of plundered teeth in the stolen and reassembled Zuse-2 computer and reverse engineered replicas which secretly coordinated and consolidated the pneumo-informational energy collection at the camps for the necromantically-ambitious but unfulfilled "𝕻𝖗𝖔𝖏𝖊𝖐𝖙 𝕵ö𝖙𝖚𝖓𝖍𝖊𝖎𝖒". Either way, this was a great episode and tiresome as the trope of occult Nazis doing evil shit for shits'n'giggles has become, I loved it. The rest of the series though, while making welcome references to Lovecraftian cosmology, kinda dropped the ball when it came to delivery. So, here's some creepy coincidence for folks (trust me, it ties in to Lot 36) : the actor portraying Roland (Sebastian Roché) also starred alongside Heath Ledger and Vera Farmiga (whom he was once married to) in the T.V. Series ROAR, portraying the Roman Centurion (Gaius Cassius Longinus) who pierced Jesus with a spear and was cursed with immortality until the Final Judgement. Believing that the Spear (long since lost to him) is the only weapon with the power to end his life (because it was powerful enough to kill a god, after all), he eventually tracks it down hidden somewhere in Ireland. In the episode "Spear of Destiny", he finds it, and though it is shown to give the one in possession of it the ability to bring death or life into the world depending on the individual, he finds that the Spear ultimately still answers to the Will of the one who cursed him and Longinus is not allowed release from his debt. Do you know who else fervently searched for Longinus' Spear (aka The Spear of Destiny)? Adolf H*tler. In fact there is a book by the metaphysical historian, Trevor Ravenscroft, titled "The Spear of Destiny" which I highly recommend that details H*tler's obsession with the occult and postulates that his rise to power has everything to do with him having acquired the Spear of Destiny and his downfall was the result of him losing possession of the Spear. For even more weird, here's a bonus: Sebastian Roché also portrayed the angel Balthazar on the T.V. Series SUPERNATURAL and the character had The Spear of Destiny in his arsenal of Heavenly weaponry. In the Christian tradition, Balthazar (magus aka King of Macedonia) wasn't an angel, but one of the three magi who gave gifts to an infant Jesus. Balthazar is the Patron Saint of **drum roll please** GERMANY. 😉 P.S. the symbolism of the rabbit/hare is quite rich and can be found as far back as the first human civilization in ancient Mesopotamia. It's most common symbolism is in relation to the Underworld, death, and fertility. The constellation Lepus (Latin for hate/rabbit) is what comes to mind with this episode. In Jewish lore, he constellation Lepus was associated with "the sinner collection sticks on the Sabbath" and as "Cain being chased out of the garden of Eden" after murdering his brother. Honestly, the rabbit symbolism in the episode is likely drawing on numerous sources, but I believe Lilith is the main inspiration behind the demon.

Hey Cogan, I just remembered I good and underrated/not well known series you could explore for monsters. I can't remember how long it was on but I believe it was a History Channel original series called: "The Librarian." It had Noah Wylde? I believe as the protagonist and the show focused on finding occult artifact like the Holy Grail. I believe I vaguely remember him fighting a vampire in an episode as well.

so, before entering, he acts like a bunny, with the hopping, and feeds bunnies to the demon. maybe it's related. I can't figure out why he would do the same when he leaves though. or how he made the secret area to store the demon. but it's a good story from what I saw.

Yes. It's a simple story that works on magical logic - answers are necessary to enjoy it. I don't need to know why the man was hopping - it was unsettling and made the viewers curious to know what's in the unit, and that's what it was supposed to do.

24:28 I suspect Karma is very painful when you deliberately turn your back on someone. You have to always reach out with kindness and help each other. One should never twist their responsibility to help the poor and destitute with a twisted narrative that seeks to glorify their pain as if the poor and destitute deserved it. Don't let evil conquer you, Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you. Proverbs 25:21-22

Here's the explanation as to why the old man would hop before entering the lot: He fed the chopped up rabbits to the demon by pouring them into the hole where the face of the corpse used to be. To get to the corpse he would have to hop across the double ring around the pentagram without disturbing it. That's why he would practice hopping every time before he entered the lot. And there wasn't enough space inside to practice hopping there.

One thing I didnt like about this episode is last few minutes. Especially when Nick and German guy enter the chamber with a demon. Nobody is that fucking stupid to just destroy the circle after seeing dead body occupied by tentacles on the face, because there is a book in the far corner or anything really. First of all, everyone would first shit their pants and run, or at least be careful enough not to disturb this creepy thing on the floor. That was dumb as fuck imo

I also think that the candle was a little clue once again to nazi germany. I can see it being holy objects being melted, however I also think it’s more sinister than that. Chances are the line “bit by bit” was in reference to POWs in concertation camps who had their gold teeth ripped out. Quite sad, but it lines up with the rest of the info in the episode

The date on the TV was Jan 1991. The gulf war ended a month later. It was a very short war it lasted less than a year. He could have been in the military for longer and was already in when the Persian gulf war started. Also he may have been injured or wounded and then discharged to go home.

@@coreyhamby2989 I've known lots of young men that came back from that conflict, and they acted nothing like that. He must've just been a major assh*loe before he left. Still no correlation between 2003 and G.H.W. Bush. We would have up to our necks in a new Iraq/Afghan conflict. Also, Desert Shield Became Desert Storm, so maybe he was there from the very beginning. Del Toro is both a fan and friend of Stephen King, who helped make Creepshow and as this show is very much setup inspired by Creepshow, which also would be be still relevant as it was made in the mid 80s and this episode was set in 92, as the George bush speech from the start of Desert Storm.
