Brother that’s not Shiva’s private part or vagina that’s a representation of shiva’s presence and not associated with pleasure. It’s called lingam which some people translate to private part but lingam in true sense means the identifier. Hence Shiva Lingam means the identity of Shiva. Don’t believe random people there, mostly are Muslims and say this to disregard other religions .

I am thinking of visiting the temple this year. Do you have any nearby hotel recommendations, best modes of transport? did you need a tour guide?

I rented a motorbike and drove to all the sites myself. I just read about the history online and guided myself through the area. For hotels I would just look online or on Google maps and this changes daily :)

This temple was destroyed by moghul king Aurangzeb , you see the defaced carvings and statues ,they tried to completely demolish the temple but couldn't .
