i restored a 1989 travel trailer, gutted the inside and built it to accomodate off grid use, compost toilet, portable propane stove instead of the giant one that came stock... now i can go off grid weeks at a time, dont have to dump tanks, have more room than a normal camper, and its a fraction of the price of new campers and the quality is better. Its the way to go honestly

Try Optilube XPD. It’s a fuel lubricant. You will notice your motor runs quieter because it needs less fuel because of the reduced friction. My 2001 Duramax Alison k3500 gets 14.1 average on flat ground at 55-60 mph carrying 5000 lbs. Before using potent my best fuel economy was 15 mph empty. Now I get into 19 mpg empty. A light foot and a boost gauge helps there, modest speeds and this fuel lube help dramatically. Good luck.

We bought a used Lance squire lite 650s. It didn’t have a A/C unit although it was prepped. We bought the Dometic 11K BTU. Installed it on a 103 degree day. Smallest unit they make and it ran off of 110 and an extension core. Within 20 minutes it was down to a comfortable 78 degrees. The air coming out of the unit was 58 degrees. I turned everything on including the frig and it never tripped the breaker. They are loud but well worth the $1100. Dollar. BTW you have done a good job on the camper. Nice video too.

I had that headlight airing out prob on my Sierra. I put some air shocks and a compressor in and it fixes it whenever I’m loaded. I had a Winnebago I bought used. The previous owner had used some RV sealant that was like silver putty that he seam sealed the roof seams and around the A/C. Never have had to touch it again. That Winnie is up to 21 yrs old now. Your boarded window is a cool idea. I’ll give you credit for how I use it. Something else that works is a Marine Corps sticker on the outside of your window. I was a Marine but you could use Tank Corps or Army Ranger sticker. It’s like intimidation for the weak minded criminals. Your countertops and that table look killer. Great job on that and the stove back splash.

Omg! You should design trailers for people. I just bought an old FJ Cruiser and was trying to think of how I could fix the back to sleep and what to do for storage. I want to try to camp like you lol But you could design people’s cars, vans, SUV’s I love the way you did your counters and table. Thats nicer than my house 😊 You know what I like about your stove top? I noticed a lot of stove tops in new motorhomes move the burners toward the wall. I think they do it to give more counter top room. But I always think but if I had a big pot of soup or something, the wall would be in the way. But your burners are placed in the middle so you have more room for a big pan or pot. Love how you thought everything out. Very nice!!! Thanks for sharing! ❤ I hope I can get over my anxiety enough to start camping in my FJ Cruiser!!! 🤗 You’re an inspiration!

I had a ton of anxiety too when I first started but the only way to get over it is to just do it. I still get a little anxiety but I have just learned to push past it and im always glad I did. Attach your power inverter to the wall sideways and you might be able to get one more battery in the top if you reinforce the shelf there (maybe a simple metal L channel frame with the holes to adjust shelf height, which you put the battery on and you actually may be able to attach the inverter to it so you can get to it easier). *I looked at it again and you may be able to pull the inverter forward to attach sideways to the wall right at the cabinet opening if your wires are long enough.

Great set up! Thanks for sharing. Mason is very cute. I also went for the same backsplash for my 90s RV when I remodeled. I have 400W of solar and 200Ah of battery as well but I don't think I have enough battery to run my fridge, AC and TV. That is some magic going on. Or maybe my battery is old. Does your solar socket bypass the battery? Lots of inspo in this video. I need to re-do the table, it's original and terribly wonky. And the flooring needs work. Previous one I installed looks like it will last only one year of full timing. I hear your pain about taping everything for hours and painting it very quick.
@worklessenjoylifemore9 ай бұрын
Awesome I’m glad you found some inspiration on this video! My solar is completely separate from the camper wiring. The only connection I have connecting the two systems is for a plug in play charger so when the camper is plugged in then it chargers the solar batteries. I haven’t even tried to run the AC on it either, I imagine it would use up the batteries in a matter of minutes. So my solar mostly is there to power the fridge water pump, and heater. The lights run off the truck batteries.
