The pipe bomb was pvc housing chlorine and brake fluid cleaner in separate compartments triggered by a valve. The Sgt triggered the valve and caught it straight to the chest which sprayed all in his face. Imagine having chlorine and brake fluid cleaner explode into your eyes and down your throat. I can't image there wouldnt be many of us not throwing out expletives in response. He was left with the powder on his face as he breathed it in. Owens was sent to the hospital for several hours and went through extensive testing. He was able to make a full recovery. After the traffic stop, Legault’s home was searched. Some of the charges he faces include intent to sell meth, maintaining a drug dwelling, armed trafficking of methamphetamine, and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer

The guys name is Charles Legault, this is a chemical pipe bomb filled with chlorine. They then raided Legault’s home and found another guy there called Patrick McGregor, (64), with several guns and meth.

I am DUMBFOUNDED by the absolute failure by EVERY deputy on the scene! The injured Deputy made next to no emergency call after the explosion. Shoulda been an officer needs help etc and then his backup just stood around talking like it was a non injury accident or something! They needed to examine the injured officer, begin basic 1st aid for pete sake, he is your family! Absolute failure but THE INJURED DEPUTY WAS IN SHOCK, so, he gets a pass on part of it. Pray he recovers.

I'm not sure where you're getting "airbag deployment device" from. It was something similar to whats used in 'Shake-n-bake' meth cooking. it was a makeshift device used to make meth that exploded when the cop twisted the two pieces, and it mixed causing the reaction. These things have a very high probability of failure resulting in explosions like this one. The cop fiddles with it at 8:30, and then about 15 seconds later the chain reaction happens.

As soon as cop found the meth pipe, the suspect should have immediately been placed in handcuffs. Then cop needed to secure the suspects weapon BEFORE he started searching for more. After the "bomb" went off, the suspect had full reign back inside the vehicle as the cop was coughing back by his patrol car. This "traffic stop" was poorly executed.
