Awesome results. The Trachy at 06:30 is not a waggy. The biggest robusta is gonna be awesome this year. The big Trachy did awesome! Everyone's pindo is having trouble. I think I would forget a sabal in your climate. You make me want a Jubaea !!!

And that “waggy” was sold to me as a small waggy from a very reliable online company. My parents in Atlanta live near a nursery that has beautiful waggys at about 5 feet. I might have to drive down and get one

Glad to see most of your plants go through the winter in style, even accounting for the Christmas Eve massacre. I quite like the dwarf Washingtonia and LOVE your pond and fishes. 😀

Great stuff and full watch my friend! I'd say the Palmetto is on its way out from past experience. The Hurricane cut will only really work in climates with long hot/humid summers. All in all not bad considering the winter most of us had in the north east and I can relate with some of the beat palms for sure!

Great Job and awesome tour! I have an Exotic Garden in Frankfurt, Germany, Zone 7b. Last Winter was a bit tricky (a lot of unleashing and coverings plams). Greetings Chris

Sabals are so very picky when transplanting. I mean they are ridiculously sensitive.

That is what I am hearing! I have a few small ones in pots that are doing well but I think trying to get a large one to grow in the north is even harder

Sorry that you had bad luck with your Butia. Butia is my favorite palm. Had one for many years. It is in a big container and kept in the heated greenhouse. And TN is right. It is no waggy. The leafy stalk should then be shorter and more stiff. Funny that even Denmark is a zone 7 our Hostas still haven´t showed up yet like yours. Wish you a good season !

I’m in a zone 5a/5b and I use a semi insulated wooden box around two of my smaller Mediterranean Fan Palms, they’re about 2&1/2 feet tall each, a bunch of suckers on each. I’ve had them in the ground for almost 6 years, they’re about 7 years old. One of them is already starting to send out flower stocks

The Jubatia(JubeaexButia) is the preferred palm for summer humid areas like the NE & SE parts of the ZUS. Remember reading that PDN(Plants Delight Nursery) tried several times to grow pure Jubaea. Every time the plSnts turned to mush. They hate the humidity at night? Noticed Gary’s Nursery in New Bern,NC also grows the zHxB hybruds from seed. New Bern is listed as YSDA Zones 5 to 8A .pure Jubeae usually fails in the NW(OR to BC) when people keep watering and feeding way into September. Plant light and learn to allow growth to ha,rden(stop watering by August). Feeding isn’t really needed. The clay soul is quite rich. Besides the seeds will like,y ripen in New York. Think it was Desertscapes Nursery(Bend/Eedmond) that grows pure Nubea in the high Deserts of OR. Zone 6.Oops Jubeae not zNubeae. The waggyxOrinceos sounds interesting,since pure zprinceps is slow and finicky.

A regular Jubae would be hardier than a hybrid. How much did Gary charge you for shipping?

my super mule palm here in washington state looks horrible. i had to fix my kittens and was away with them for like 10 days at grandmas and i think we had a cold snap/ i didnt wrap it. it looks fried :( hope it recovers. I noticed if the weather app says 31 or 33 ect it can be 25 or lower after the fact... im mad at myself. Ill put some electric string lights on it next winter

Mind if I ask a question: my Trachy that I got from Florida and keep indoors until spring, the fronds just won’t spread out, they like to close up and I cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong 😢
@newyorktropicalgarden9364
@newyorktropicalgarden9364 Жыл бұрын
Not sure if this will help but with some of my palms I keep indoors during the winter I have to help separate the fronds with my hands. I’ve had to do it with my bottle palm several times. You could also try misting them
