President Zelensky is a native speaker of russian, so it's natural if he falls back on it for vocabulary when he needs to. He only started talking mainly in Ukrainian when he became President of Ukraine. Unlike what's been said by russian sources, russian speaking people are not persecuted in Ukraine, and many still speak it daily. In general, people have only started to avoid using it due to (surprise, surprise!..) the russian invasion of Feb 24th. Unbelievable, right? Ukrainian people dropping by may correct me if I'm wrong.

There aren't that many air defense systems in the world. The US has given I think 2 Patriot systems by now, Germany has given several IRIS-T systems and lots of Gepards to shoot down these Shahed drones, I think some SAMPT systems (co-production of France and Italy) were also given. But Ukraine is really big. Currently, they can kinda protect the major cities, but they need more to protect the troops when they go forward. No NATO army would ever try to fight without sufficient air cover. That's why they have been asking for planes from day one. If they had had those F16s in March, the counteroffensive would have been going much different. But the US didn't even allow European countries to give their F16s to Ukraine until some time in summer. Only then could Denmark and other European countries promise F16s to Ukraine. And now it still takes time as the pilots have to be trained. And at the same time, all these journalists and retired generals were chastising Ukraine for not being fast enough. Seriously? Without planes? And hey, it's not even just without planes, a lot of the promised other equipment also only arrived in September/October. Like those Abrams tanks. It was supposed to be a SPRING counteroffensive...
