This has been my main gigging kit for the past year, for volume control and sound balance. It is a work horse. I have had2 pad go down(not at the same time) and Yamaha replaced them under the warrantee. Nothing but compliments on the sounds and I love how they feel. Only thing I did replace is the kick pad. the KP 65 is yuk. I swapped out for a KP 125.

Man, I didn't know YAMAHA could make awesome stuff like this! Awesome drum kit, but because of money purposes, I'm gonna start with the DTX450K. But, one day, I will buy this! 👍

I have a question about the cymbal stands that are used for this 750 ..can you use a regular cymbal stand or do you have to have one designed specifically for electronic cymbals ? I ask because I have a DTX 522 and the cymbal stands that come with that have a metal piece that also goes through a hole in the electronic cymbal .. so the cymbal attaches to the stand just as a regular cymbal would be attached .. but there is an extra hole and a skinny metal rod goes through this additional hole

Are there any kits where the toms are soft for a realistic tom stick rebound?
@creamb58018 жыл бұрын
Yamaha pads are soft but has good rebound. Roland feels realistic but I think Yamaha is better just because it feels more comfortable for my hands.

Nice. Yamaha makes great stuff in all areas. Good value for money usually too. Their new recording custom birch kit is the first time I've seen them maybe over price on something. However it does look and sound great but they want more for it than the hybrid maple even. The hybrid maple is a mixture of two more expensive woods than birch so I found it strange for them to charge 500 bucks more for that. Maybe once it's out longer the price will drop just a hundred or two less than the maple like it used to be on their previous kits.

Larry Tate Have you tried Mapex Saturn? They also make hybrid shells - mixture of maple and walnut. It's a lot less expenssive than Yamaha Absolute Hybrid and it's one of the best sounding kits I've ever heard.

Are the heads rubber or mesh?

Jeff Lynn The pads are a special kind of silicone, they're extemely quiet and in my opinion, feel great

Do you have this issue with all of the kits? If so and all of the connections are secure then I would contact Yamaha support directly here: usa.yamaha.com/support/contact/pac/

They make excellent electronic kits, but I don't think they price them well enough, if yamaha hasn't noticed, consumer musicians don't make the kind of money to say "Ya know, I'm going to go buy a 3,000$ electronic drum kit." And considering their "affordable" option, the 500k, is just to basic too allow the drummer to express themselves. This is the main reason they aren't doing that well compared to others, I just wish they could do some market research and properly price these things.
@AnonymousAppleIdea10 жыл бұрын
Ah, yes I agree with you. The pricing of the kit is very poor, however, I really love all the features of this kit. It's a darn shame I don't have $3897 to buy a kit (In Australia they are about that). If I had room, I'd spend $1800 on a real drum kit, but the equivalent of electric drum kits are too poor. If I did save enough money, however, I would happily buy this kit. It would make recording my album a lot easier without the need to hire a session musician.

Yes, but as I said before on the video for the DTX950, that $3,000 e-kit is crammed with the midi files of ALL of Yamaha's top acoustic kits. Roland does the same thing but as they don't make acoustic drums, I'm wondering how they get their drum set samples. So, yeah, the e-kits are not cheap but if you were to buy a five piece Oak Custom drum set, a five piece Maple Custom Absolute drum set, a Beech Custom drum set, a Recording Custom drum set, you would have easily gone over the price of this electronic kit. And let's not even talk about cymbals! Cymbals are damn expensive and so are all the various percussion instruments you would have to buy to equal all the sounds in this module. It's all relative. Or, you could spend money on the best module you can buy and then build your own e-kit for cheap. Check out V-drums forum. There's tons of folks who have built their own e-kits, either by converting an existing acoustic kit or by using cake pans and cheap Radio Shack piezos. It's easier than you think. Look up D.I.Y. electronic drums on KZbin. There's so many videos!

It's a great e-drum kit, but I think it sounded too samply and much less organic than what I heard when listening to the Roland TD30KV. The cymbal roll when he played both crashes rapidly sounds more like he is hitting the crashes hard repeatedly instead of slowly getting louder. If I were to choose between Roland or Yamaha, I'd choose Roland.
@alastor10528 жыл бұрын
Music Overload The ideal kit would be Yamaha pads with a Roland module
@terrycornelius48 жыл бұрын
***** That's a nice idea. It might just be a killer e-drum set. Someone should try that sometime.
@JPGroleau7 жыл бұрын
The cymbals sounds way better on Roland kits. But I think I prefer the Yamaha snares and toms sounds. Too bad yamaha's pads always look like toys. The 700 and 900 series are expensive, you don't want to put that much money on a drumkit that looks like a toy. Roland pads with shells (like td30 pads) and chrome rack look A LOT more professional. For the better cymbals sounds, (really important to me) and better overall looking kit, I would stay with Roland.
@markomarkovic57297 жыл бұрын
JPGroleau Yamaha and Roland have a different approach to e-drums - guys from Yamaha insist that electronic drums are purely a practice tool, while Roland treats their flagship kits as musical instruments, which they are. New Alesis Strike looks interesting, although I've heard that some people have problems with hi-hat, false triggering etc... If they fix that with software update, that could be the best bang for a buck on e-drum market.

This is Yamaha top end Drumset? Lol. You can buy Roland TD-15kv for much better sound quality and much more realistic drums. Yamaha has a lot to advance.
@fermiLiquidDrinker8 жыл бұрын
+Johnny Mickem I have a roland, and the tom sounds are not as good. But they also don't focus on gimmicks (like the virtual snare wire), and gave it a more all-round realistic feel.
