This was the first tragic quest chain involving the scourge that I ever played and it is probably what got me hooked on it and left me with a special place in my heart for the zone of Duskwood, a definite personal favourite. There's a song which still reminds me of this zone and that quest chain: "Lustral - Everytime (Mark Eteson Remix)" as this is the the type of thing I was listening to on digitally imported when I was first introduced to the game just prior to BC when I entered Duskwood for the first time.

I love this tragic strory. All of my characters carry with them Archeus and the book "The Story of Morgan Ladimore". When I started playing the paladin class, I made a character with the name Sam Ladimore. Gems of lore like this sparkle like the stars in the night sky and are testament to the greatness of the original Warcraft lore writers.

This was my favorite quest-chain and IMHO why classic WoW was so good. You could tell they actually cared about the story and the game. I have yet to see similar amounts of simple character-driven storytelling in any of the recent expansion that didn't involve massively overpowered placeholder characters doing things simply to move the narrative forward with zero individually understandable motivation and drive.
