Morning lads. Been waiting for a vid about this. Amorim brought through 5 youngsters in the 1st season at Sporting, think he will love the academy
@Hedgebets1008 күн бұрын
Bringing 5 through in Portugal and bringing 5 through in the PL are 2 very different things. But we can always hope.
@sickboy66638 күн бұрын
@Hedgebets100 it depends. Sporting hadnt won the league for nearly 20yrs and were the 3rd of the big 3. It was a huge risk for Amorim to put faith in half the team being from the academy, it could have backfired easily. Point being, he is happy to give 17, 18 yr old players a chance. Our academy is on fire, so we could be set up well for future
@Hedgebets1008 күн бұрын
@sickboy6663 It doesn't really depend. Factually, the PL is significantly stronger than the Portugese League. Coming through at Sporting is a lot easier than Utd. Our youth teams look good for sure,. But the step up is monumental. There may or may not be the standard of ability or character in the system that's good enough. Time will tell.
@Hedgebets1008 күн бұрын
@sickboy6663 I'm happen to look at 5 examples, outside of the class of 92 of course, where a manager has done this in the PL. Or say La Liga and you can use Masia 😉
@sickboy66638 күн бұрын
@@Hedgebets100 well if your comparing to the EPL, those youngsters knocked Arsenal out of Europe and just hammered Pep's City 4-1. Regardless, your still missing the point...im referring to his eagerness to use youngsters if theyre good enough. Im not saying he will promote 5 next weekend, im saying he will use the academy in the future.

@@thebizness5596 Watch his clips for the U15s, U16s, U17s though. He definitely has something special in him, just hasn’t translated it to the U18s. You dont just score a trivela from outside the box and not be a top player. I think he’ll need some time to adapt, once he fully grows he’ll be unstoppable. He’s younger than everyone you mentioned btw and probably already more physically developed than most of them. Also football isnt just about ability, I’d argue that mentality is even more important and he’s got that.

Out of interest, why is it that the names that keep coming up again and again when talking about our Academy is the U18s? What's going on with the U21s? Are we saying the players are progressing to the U21s and falling off the face of the Earth? Or that if you don't make it after U18s you have no future? I'm sure we have good players in the U21s. I get that the U18s are killing it for the 2nd/3rd year in a row but I think the U21s need to get some spotlight too.

Upvote just for the comment about TH not bringing through youngsters. It annoyed me no end that he sold lots of our young players, like Fernandez, and only brought through the obvious two. He barely even played Amad who is clearly 1,284,139 times better than Antony.
@hgnieliasen86298 күн бұрын
Garnacho and Mainoo haven't done too bad, have they? And I'm not sure Fernandez would have developed as well staying at United. We had Shaw and Malacia, so he probably would've been 3rd choice. I know they are both made of glass, but you couldn't predict that both of them wouldn't play a minute of football this season
@alexhanson65778 күн бұрын
@hgnieliasen8629 who do you think I was referring to when I said "the obvious two"? We have no idea how well Fernandez would have developed here and we will never know. But when you have 2 LBs who are injured all the time and the only other one is a 17 yr old wonderkid (who you also don't give any chances to), selling a guy who is at least decent and not injured is just stupid. Even if he wasn't first choice because one of them managed to stay fit (though we now know he would have been 1st choice), he would have been on the bench and used in rotation. There are others too which were overlooked. I notice you ignored the Amad comment as well... You're not a bald fraud fan still, are you?

Youngsters are people and not objects. 'Who' instead of 'which' would be far more appropriate don't you think?. Under 30(selfie generation) cannot be used as an excuse for being illiterate. Or can it?
@andrew13yt8 күн бұрын
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones! You failed to cite the author of the original post that you are responding to. If you are going to employ the rules of formal Grammar you should have written; 'illiteracy' instead of "illiterate." Furthermore, "Or can it?" is not a proper sentence. Every (formally written) sentence requires at least a verb and a subject in order to present a complete and coherent thought in a grammatically correct manner. You should have used the word; 'Being' at the beginning of the sentence; "Under 30...."). Moreover, you should have written; 'the' selfie generation.
