Fully Kiosk Browser and Home Assistant

We are trying out Fully Kiosk Browser on a relatively cheap Samsung Tablet for a control hub for Home Assistant, in a central location in our house. We install the wall mounted tablet in a Vidabox wall mount for a professional looking finish. I tried to cover as much as possible without taking to long, if you have any question please leave a comment, or even better if you have an suggestion / tip for wall mounted tablets leave a comment too.

Then setup some sensors in Home Assistant to monitor the tablet, change the home page and control a MyAir Advantage Air Ducted Air Conditioner as well.
With a small Python Script we can control the main feature of Fully Kiosk with service calls from Home Assistant.

Great video, when I first got into HA it provided me a great intro into buying, mounting a tablet and baisc Kiosk browser via Fully Kiosk. I didn't hard wire the USB but ran a USB extension into the wall cavity and then into a pre-existing GPO.

I had the idea of using a picture frame (cutting it down to size) for this - and using a rather low cost tablet for it with an external proximity trigger to wake the device but it's quite some time since I looked into it.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I do have one concern about using a tablet like this plugged in and constantly "charging". I have seen a Samsung Galaxy TAB that was plugged in 24/7 and used as an always on security camera display, and after about 18 months the battery swelled so much that the case was bowed out in the front and back and it actually started to pop the screen off the case. Should this be a concern with a tablet that is always powered and charging? Since it is wired directly to the wall, could/should the battery be removed for safety issues?

James!! I have been learning using KZbin for over a year and this is by far the best vid I have seen . And the fact you're in Australia is really cool . Its a small world ....This is probably a bit creepy for you, but you actually buy from the company I work for, Voltex. Did you work out with your customer what the problem was regarding the Barcelona downlights being too bright ? Love your work brother!! (I wonder if the little transformer mech fits into a Voltex switch....)

Excellent vid, well explained and shown ; planning on doing just this but I had the requirement for no wifi so my cable connection has to be data and power. I just got a 3d printed holder.

Hi James, Great video. Question regarding the physical install of the USB charger into the wall, what is the little white connector you use to bridge the power? trying to source the same component. Look forward to more videos 👍
