This is the best Rivian video review I've seen, TFL is crushing it! Rivian, if you are reading this, all of those overhyped press events you did with other journalists were pointless, we just needed to see how it works in day to day use like this video. Personally i only see a few small flaws with this truck, the biggest being the low power in the outlets for an EV. Really there is no reason it's so much weaker than the ford f150 which gives you 2KW on a gas engine, then 7-10 KW on the hybrid/lightning.
@coffelt6832 жыл бұрын
I know they say this isnt for ranch/farm use, but I think its perfect. Usually ranch trucks arent doing too much mileage on a daily basis and just go around the property, and by charging on the property they technically never even have to go to town to grab gas.

Yeah a work truck model would make total sense and I’d imagine if they can ramp up production volume they’ll do one but I’m sure it’s extremely difficult to come out of the gate as a new company with a high volume low price vehicle in year one of production.

And if you have on-site tanks, it becomes a security issue - especially in rural Canada where you don't have the same ability to defend your property that you would in the States. EV's would solve that problem!

Depends on the farm. Won’t do any good with livestock. Will it tow? Yeah but the battery depreciation won’t be good for long trips trying to charge with a trailer full of livestock. I’m a Tesla owner and live in Texas. I wouldn’t recommend electric for livestock one bit. Otherwise yes. It’s great.

@@venunarla A little honesty helps. With all the lies demanding 600 mile ranges in EVs even fooled me, until I verify the facts and check back my ICE experience. I always budget my ICE to have a range of 200 miles because I don't trust the specified full tank range. In a traffic jam, the fuel get burned rapidly. @@othmanskn yeah lot of people overestimate what range actually they need. 300 miles is a comfortable range. The problem with putting the tire underneath is that when your stuck in a muddy 4*4 trail it can be nearly impossible to get the tire from underneath where a lot of SUV/trucks put it. (ask me how I know) you cant put it on the back since it has a real tail gate. So really the only good option is under the bed but yea you gotta unload all your stuff if something goes wrong. Still better than digging in the mud and jacking up your truck just to drop a spare from underneath. Solid video guys
@KarnageKamikaze2 жыл бұрын
Right. This and the 2 other complaints made were pretty minor things in the grand scheme. If you get a flat and have to unload stuff, 98% of the time you’re only gonna have a few things in the back that won’t take long to unload. Obviously in this case it’s annoying if you had to unload all the wood, but still better to have decent clearance with the air suspension and a tire in a tucked away spot in my opinion

I don't think I've ever seen an R1T without the $2K off-road package, but many of us are questioning if we need it or not and what exactly (pieces-wise), are added to the underbody? Rivian have done an extremely good job with this vehicle and for the profile E vehicles generally. The only issue is one of cost... The Estate / SUV version will pose a serious threat to lux SUV manufacturers Like Range Rover Toyota Audi etc.

Great video however anyone who has owned a pick up truck for several years where there’s lots of corrosion and rust and has had to change their tire…believe me you would rather have your spare tire protected in the truck bed then corroded and rusted permanently to the underside of your truck. And yes I tried undercoating.

Just keep in mind most of day-to-day, practical things can be done with a Honda Ridgeline at 60% of the price discounting the drag race. 🤔 Flame on! Back in 1929; Cord had a “tunnel.” They called it a golf bag compartment. 😉

Wow the suspension held up incredibly well on that load! Most small trucks I see with big loads like that have the tires rubbing the wheel wells lol!

It has air assist. If you put air assist on any smaller truck it would handle the same load just as well
@t_c52662 жыл бұрын
No you dont. That load was lighter than you think and even the smallest trucks offered these days have 1500lb+ bed capacity. The trucks youre seeing are old, from the 80s or 90s, beat to shit work trucks

It was one thing that could be useful on the Rivian that you didn't test, the onboard air. If you have a pneumatic grease gun and the Rivian, you would have an easy day lubeing a tractor or other farm equipment.
@dstephan342 жыл бұрын
I forgot about that, when he mentioned the location of the spare tire being one of the things he didn't like, with a loaded bed. But with the on board air, maybe have a patch kit handy, and maybe you can patch the tire and pump it back up without having to get the spare. Which brings up another point, maybe in a later model, they might provide an access point to that air outside of the bed. Because even being able to patch the tire, you still might have to unload the bed a bit to access the air.

It depends on what cfm the compressor is. Air tools use a lot of air.

Suddenly, all the best Rivian videos are all coming from TFL. I loved this video and witnessing the R1T doing some serious work. Maybe I missed it but I would have been curious to get a weight on the truck when it was loaded with all that wood. I loved how the suspension handled it without squatting at all. Keep up the great work TFL!

Simply, the best Rivian R1T video so far, just like Americans do, country side, wood planks, logs, cattle, that’s what trucks were meant for, being rough off the road. 👏🏾 👏🏾

It's so interesting to me to see these guys going all electric tools. A lot of people I know are very against electric tools for some reason, so it's nice to see an actual farmer be all in on electric. The thought of just having your truck plugged in at night, with all your batteries in the bed being charged simultaneously is so futuristic to me lol.
@kenwilliams40862 жыл бұрын
Battery powered tools work really well if used everyday. Not so well if sitting on a shelf in one's garage for months at a time.

We changed to electric years ago. Expenses went down. Performance went up. Plus the absence of noise, mixing gas and fumes is awesome
@jtodd02212 жыл бұрын
@@mattbrew11 yeah I don't get it. I do live in the south so things go a little slower here lol. I've already switched to all electric at home, my lawnmower and everything is all battery powered. I like it a lot. I can hold conversation with the wife while I mow the lawn, and I don't have to store gas cans any more.
@qx4n9e1xp2 жыл бұрын
Low-running tools (like drills, impacts, sawzalls) are great battery tools. But I don't like battery tools for high-running tools (tools that rotate for long periods, and/or must overcome strong resistance) like circular saws, chainsaws, weedwackers, lawn mowers, vacuums, or snow blowers. Those things eat battery juice, and lose effectiveness quick, so I prefer corded or straight gas. I love electric battry impacts, ratchets, lights, & bandsaws though. They last a good while during normal use.
