New subscriber here😊. I moved into a micro home off grid 3 years ago at retirement. First thing i did was read all of Laura Ingles books to see if i could glean some wisdom😅 also read several of the old timer homesteading ng in the area one amazing thing I learned was that they dug large hole in the ground for all their precious belongings and covered with dirt when a forest fire came through. I grow what I eat and love fresh pea pods basil. The only flowers I can keep growing here are the alpines. N E WA State.

Good job! I'm getting back into canning and preservation - Trying to find the time is difficult. I waited until the Farmer's Market was over 10/28 and then whatever I've had left (tomatoes/pumpkins/onions/sweet potatoes) is all I've done so far - along with some apple pie filling. I did salsa and just canned some tomatoes (for chili). Made pumpkin puree, froze alot of minced onions, and put up chunk sweet potatoes and sweet potato fries. I would still like to dehydrate some herbs. My challenge during the growing season is finding the time to do any preserving due to my full-time job and then growing the veggies and harvesting and doing farmer's market. We have alot of chicken frozen from our pasture raised chicken operation that we do. Never done anything with eggs - that is interesting!
