In love with the noise from these cars. They sound like freaking spaceships

I'm a huge F1 fan. I'm supportive of F-E. It won't replace F1 (and I don't want it to), but I'd like it to become just as popular. I can't wait for the race next month.

It wil, eventually replace F1 when it becomes illegal to drive ICE cars.

Don't deny the change. And don't take the piss out of me. How old are you, 14?
@soundslave8 жыл бұрын
Ben Farmer-Webb ICE will never be illegal. Over time they'll just become expensive play things for those who can afford them. No need to ban them, they'll simply become to uneconomical to be practical for 99% of the world. It'll happen naturally and doesn't need laws.

I freaking love this series. I'm a race nut and a petrol head but I'm also a tech geek. Love the sound they make as I also race Electric 1/10th scale Touring Cars.

Very cool. The more everyday people see how electric cars are capable of doing what conventional ICE cars do, the more they'll be accepted. BTW, does Robert Llewellyn do the drawings at the beginning? If so, congrats. Very nice.

I've seen several videos on Formula E but this one was quite informative. I am falling in love with the sound of this car..hope you make another video on 2016 season and the cars that would be used in it.

You know the gods are smiling at you when you wake up every morning with a name like Peter McCool, have killer 'burns and drive racecars that sound like pod racers.

first time ive heard of Formula E, and i think its brilliant that electric motors are starting to become a bit more prominent in motor sports. cant wait to see the technical side of it ;3

I've always hated the sheer thought of gas car racing. Been a fan of F-e since its inception. Can't believe I missed this coverage from back then.
@towerace12386 жыл бұрын
the real gains will come from open competition. when car makers can build and race their own design,, e racing will take over fuel driven cars very rapidly . i cant wait to see the switch in competition

Looks neat, thanks for posting. Kind of reminds me of hearing about my dad back in the 70s when they replaced all of the people who made mechanical cash registers at NCR with software programmers. Eventually it seems that the same will happen with cars...mechanics being replaced by electrical engineers. Obviously not all, but different skillset for sure.

I have no real interest in Formula 1 or Formula E, but I still like to see things like this, because it helps push the performance forward. It does seem a bit ridiculous that they keep adding varies taxes to fuel, to cars etc. while racing still exists, so at least it's a good step in the right direction. It shows that racing can be done using electric power.

I'd appreciate having the benefits enumerated of where this type of racing benefits the cars available to the public. I can guess some possible ways, but it'd be cool to actually have them listed since I'm sure there are some I can't think of.

Why 2 cars?? why not do a battery swap, or break up the battery into multiple smaller cell packs that can be ejected and replaced in the time it takes to change the tires? I'm sure the smart people thought of that, just seams weird to switch cars midway....
@sketchpro129 жыл бұрын
JAEGERTECH , OK read the FAQ on the formula E site, seams it's a safety issue? Surely there is a safe way to swap the batteries, with a safety cap that is only opened when it's deep inside the car.And broken into 4 or so cylinders with handles that can be slotted in and locked with a twist and lock by the crew. Although I'm sure part of that safety issue is in the event of a crash, that they don't go flying out... but I imagine that smaller lighter units would be less dangerous the massive heavy box? Anyway, it's great that they are doing this and It should take over F1. Good to see Dragon Racing involved, I helped develop their race logo years back :)

So being interested in how the series would work I thought I might tune in & watch the first race from Beijing but "quelle surprise!" it's all on ripoff pay television (here in France we're stuck with Canal+). So I won't be watching any of the races. I enjoyed your reports from McLaren on the Formula E site.

They sound so much better than the f1 cars also why didn't they get tesla to build the battery packs with ability to change them during the race just like the model s I hope tesla join in the next few years

It's mad how money talks. If this had the sponsorship F1 had, it would be on ITV or the BBC, not stuck on ITV 4. They should stick the sound boxes in them to make them sound like petrol cars.
@AndyClayton10 жыл бұрын
these cars sound better than current f1 cars anyways. come to think of it my old nova sounds better than todays current f1 cars :P

@ekhaat10 жыл бұрын
I don't quite understand why they go for two cars in stead of doing two heats with charging in-between.
10 жыл бұрын
The TV audience wouldn't be willing to wait. Another solution would be swapping the battery pack in the middle of the race, but it must present technical issues that they haven't been able to solve so far.
@JRo25010 жыл бұрын
They dropped the ball on that. They need to make those packs swappable just as easily as they do the tires.
@pol125010 жыл бұрын

I noticed that formula E doesn't come to Australia. How about coming up with a new class Formula coal, we love coal in Australia kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5KYk4KXhdCNpsU If we could have race cars powered not indirectly by coal but directly by coal (a bit like a steam train, everybody likes steam trains right?) I'm sure it would be a winner!
