Incredible, who knows how much more efficient and powerful these engines could be in a few years!

A bit of insight into Formula E technology, with Robert Llewellyn and McLaren. More than 200 horsepower is sent to the wheels via a small motor and gearbox (the gears are to aid efficiency aiding the car's range).

I feel like that F1 really misses out on social media content like this here. F1 could use it perfectly to show how impressive the new technology is. Anyways incredible stuff with Formula E here...the "engine" is so tiny, incredible!

Why are there Gearboxes?! I thought electric motors dont need gears?!
@txisbest20108 жыл бұрын
Don't have to have gears, but pretty sure lower gear ratios accelerates faster while using less power.

i am really going to enjoy this series but why doesn't the FIA make an FIAFormula1 youtube channel its a bit weird
@DAVE0DENIS0110 жыл бұрын
***** no the don't it is an FIA sport the FIA is in charge, sky sports payed the FIA to only allow them to show every season live for the uk instead of bbc showing all the races
@tkpenalty10 жыл бұрын
DAVE0DENIS01 SkySports does own all of the footage, as they have the commercial rights to them.
@CraigBickerstaff10 жыл бұрын
Martin Huang Sky Sports doesn't own any of the footage, they have broadcast rights to the "World feed" which is supplied by Formula one management ownership implies they can do whatever they want with the footage but they can't.
@DAVE0DENIS0110 жыл бұрын
***** Martin Huang then why when i go on formula1.com and watch one of there race edits it says all rights to FIA think about that, and also when youtube videos are talking down it says what again copyright act to FIA,and if skysports did have the rights why does races still air on bbc because sky doesn't own any rights for formula 1
@DAVE0DENIS0110 жыл бұрын
***** yeah they are totally going to loss a big chance to make money and all of yous seem to be forgetting one thing, Codemasters who have been making the f1 games for a while now they had to go ask the FIA if they could make the game with there permission and do what i said to do and watch one of the video's on formula 1's website and it says a bunch of policies and one of the big one's all copyright's to FIA

A very nice interview, but almost everything that Mr. Van Manen said regarding the physics of electric motors was incorrect. The purpose of the stator is not to produce a magnetic field. The stator consists of conductors carrying current. A current carrying conductor in the presence of a magnetic field (from the rotor) experiences a force (and resulting torque and equal and opposite torque on the rotor). If you are fact checking me, please look at a text book and not a youtube video. The fallacy that the stator produces a magnetic field to produce torque is widespread.

In the beginning they didn't know anything about electic motors? Wow...I wonder how they managed to select starter motors for the engines. lol That motor may be small and powerful, but one big question remains: How durable is it? Or is it changed after every race because worn out from friction and heat? Also, I don't really care how small it is, people say it is too weak/slow. So it looks like it has to be bigger than that. Since it doesn't look like it's an advantage to have it this small and this weak.
@maxtorque227710 жыл бұрын
The Emachine itself is very durable, because it only contains 1 moving part, the rotor! Whilst you do get high frequency (at multiple harmonics of the fundamental PWM frequency) effects that stress the stator winding insulation, these are long term effects. So, assuming the motor is maintained below it's de-mag temperature and stator field strength (especially during field weakening) the machine is very durable!. In terms of power, the fundamental limitation is the dc supply voltage and the machines inductance.

They need to put this to their f1 car not hondas shitty electric motor.... Just saying
@r92cp498 жыл бұрын
+Takumi 14 They can't because of the size zero theory they're using on their F1 car. The electric motor on the F1 car wasn't working because the turbo was *too* efficient and not giving off enough heat.
