I try to keep supporting Alpine. I really do. Fan since I started watching all the races in 2017, I loved the quiet but dedicated attitude of Hulkenberg at Renault. After he lost his seat, I eventually started rooting for Gasly, and I was happy when he moved to Alpine. Maybe they would finally be able to put out the dumpster fire. Not the case. Now I'm just hoping Andretti buy the team. I'd rather they become team 11, stick it to Liberty and such, but I'd honestly be happy just to see them on the grid. Edit: Getting to your part about Andretti makes perfect sense, what would they do with two teams worth of infrastructure? I can hope, though!
@WhiteG602 ай бұрын
Thats why I think Racing Bulls is going to be sold off to Andretti. They shuttered their Italy infrastructure and moved into the Red Bull campus. There's a lot of reasons supporting it. We know Horner wants the budget cap increased dramatically. Zak Brown (and others) don't want you to be able to own two teams. Horner says "Fine, we'll sell Racing Bulls but it HAS to be worth our while. What good does getting a billion dollars do us if we can't spend it?" It just makes sense that that rumor about Horner asking for more budget drops, and then a week later Ben Sulayem stops advocating for Andretti as an 11th team and says "Andretti should just buy a team."

I don’t think people realize that indy car is not something most Americans watch...it has its fan base but the average person is way more interested in F1 then indy (maybe its my age group late 20s early 30s) The only thing with f1 is a lot of the races are super early Sunday morning on the American west coast which is annoying

@HammerHeart32292 ай бұрын
Others have mentioned it already but I wouldn't object if Alpine sold up to Andretti. They just feel like a walking corpse of a team at this point. FOM were keen to talk about Andretti not bringing enough value to the sport so what Alpine's excuse exactly? It's ashame for Gasly really, he's a decent driver but where can go? I think his best bet would be with Andretti if they do buy Alpine because I'm not really sure what other options he has. I'd also argue that this again is why F1 needs more than 10 teams really. Slight aside: 3:46 I kinda wish we could go back to those days. Obviously have some quality control and stop joke teams like Life or Andrea Moda having a go but if there was a way to make it easier for new independent teams to have a crack at F1 it would be great! I miss teams like Jordan, Stewart and Minardi!
@WhiteG602 ай бұрын
They should let up to 12 teams show up and try to qualify (or as many teams as want to, honestly) but only the fastest 20 cars get to race on Sunday. Andretti want's to spend a billion+ to be an F1 team? Cool! If you're fast enough you can race. That way, other teams like Sauber this year have a reason to actually spend money. Audi already bought the team. Why would Sauber spend any money above the absolute minimum at this point to develop the car out of their own pocket? It's a sad way to go, but also, I get it from a business standpoint.

What nobody seems to consider is that the Andretti plan was to use Renault power units until GM was ready. So if they just come in and buy Alpine they also need a whole new plan to make car go vroom vroom. Anyone who buys that team needs to sort out the power before taking over. Unless Aston Martin has some sort of exclusivity clause I think Honda would be a good option. Especially if they put Jack in the car. Even though it is a completely different category of motorsport it would be nice to see the Doohan and Honda names together again.

I think the big thing about this whole assumption Alpine will leave, is how much tunnel vision it requires. Would that also mean they take Alpines place at WEC, rebrand the Renault entry in WRC, both of which are very recent venture, or does FRECA become FRECHT? I just don't see a reality where they dramatically expand their motorsport presence just to pull out of the highest class, almost immediately after receiving a large injection of investment money.
