I leased a new 2020 Chevy Bolt Premier for $33000 US. It has all around view with a very clear screen. It is fast and fun to drive. Furthermore, it has one pedal driving. I thought it was high-priced at the time. It qualified for Oregon's $5000 EV rebate because it was under $50000 MSRP. Around $44500 before GM incentives if I remember correctly. No EV6 will qualify for Oregon's EV rebate. That is a lot of lost EV sales in Oregon. Is that intentional, Kia? Like, maybe, you don't want to sell them? I bought a loaded 2018 Kia Soul EV with the panoramic roof out of the lease I had with Kia. MSRP on that one was $38500 US. After incentives, the price to lease was a very affordable $23500. I was able to buy it out of the lease at the end for $13500. It also qualified for Oregon's EV rebate, so there were even more savings. Kia refused to sell the new 2020 longer range Soul EV in the USA. Why Kia? Because our dysfunctional government let you get away with it. They are available next door in Canada. WTF? Bottom line is, Kia has apparently decided they don't need to sell nice EVs to people with incomes under $40000 per year anymore. Or perhaps they just don't want to sell any EVs, so they jack up the prices and make them play toys for the rich and let the planet burn? That is the optics I see, judging by Kia's actions. I guess I've bought my last new EV. I like premium features like a sunroof and all around view monitor. Will these options no longer be affordable from any manufacturer in the near future? Am I missing something? GM's putting a new battery in my leased Bolt because LG screwed them, and it was probably due to corporate GREED on LG's part. GM hasn't been very transparent, either. After seeing the price of the EV6, I guess I'll need to buy my Bolt out of the lease and drive it for the next 10 years. Thanks for the price tag warning Fully Charged. Who is going to buy your Tesla priced EVs Kia? It won't be me. It isn't affordable. Good luck with that kind of marketing. A lot of us have had our fill of corporate greed. That is what this is. GREED! The Kia 6 is a $30000 car. Don't give Kia or any other company a pass. It's price gouging because of the pandemic. Pure greed. Shame on you, Kia!

As to how the design of this car will age, well, it's supposed to be sporty if not an outright sports car. A great many cars with those types of design cues tend to age well. I think the Hyundai is the car that has more of a contemporary look, and thus will age worse than the EV6. The Kia has some very classical lines, in a unique configuration. So it might very well become somewhat of a classic from the age when EV’s took over. I plan to get one, and keep it for a long time.

This was a good review and help answer a bunch of my questions. I wish you had covered the storage a bit more though. I’m also wondering why you never mentioned the model Y as a comparison, is that vehicle not available for testing? Based on what you covered I felt it was a good review for say a VW or Ford, but some of the details made me think this vehicle was a bit higher end, like an Audi or BMW, which leaves me with some additional questions: 1. What’s the quality of the navigation system? 2. Does it come with self driving capabilities? 3. Heated seats? 4. Any other perks you might find on an Audi or BMW included.

When anyone gets used to regen driving, they should all want maximum regen unless they’re incapable of feathering the accelerator. EVs should not be all off the accelerator because you should almost never be touching the brake pedal. With full regen, your right foot modulates acceleration and deceleration and you should NOT need even two regen settings which only indicates the designers don’t understand driving with regen or don’t have enough experience. I touch my Tesla Model 3 brake pedal about once a month which is all that is needed for the odd panic stop. Regen all the way the rest of the time.

This car definitely changes the image of KIA. It‘s what did not follow the Rover 3500 or even it‘s what I have been expecting from the iPace. With a trunk to put my Gordon Setters and no worries where to put the charging cables. And the Rimac, Porsche and Hyundai/Kia/Genesis 800 Volts-System is far away from competition of the price segment. Hope to get my GT-Line or better the GT by August 2022. This car comes just in between an iPace that is too expensive for what they offer and a TESLA Y that is not very user friendly in too many features with the total limitation to one screen (e.g. wipers, frunk, glove box etc.). KIA offers a serious and safety orientated handling also in winter or rainy climate with practical contols and also HUD etc. which you can‘t even get in a TESLA. You can forget now completely about Volkswagen, Ford, GM or makes even from Stellantis, Polestar or Volvo. There is nothing that comes close to any beautiful design of former times Jags or Austin Healey 3000 or Rover with well rounded sexy shapes. Good decision to have both however with Ioniq 5…

I think its a great car, I just can't get passed the back end which doesn't match the middle section of the car and the middle section of the car doesn't match the front end of the car, its like three different cars designed for three different purposes slammed together in some kind of last minute decision. Will it age well- I don't think so. It has a kind of Nokia 3310 about it. The specs and and interior are perfect and I suspect its a brilliant piece of engineering. Cracking, extended review, Jack - thank you. Just couldn't help but chuckle, though... at about 5:30 in, you're saying "when one of these drives passed, you're gonna notice it..." just as it drives passed an older couple who DON'T take any notice of it, whatsoever...!! Excellent review Jack, 100% nailed it. I wasn't sure about the EV6's looks when I first saw pictures of it, but like a lot of designs which look quirky at first, it grew on me. I don't think it looks like an SUV or a compact, and it doesn't look like an estate. It's sort of in between a lot of styles, and I think I would learn to like that as well... even those door mirrors! I'm not sure about the shape of the front seats when seen from the rear though, they remind me of E.T. Anyone? just me, then!

I was very impressed when I saw it in the showroom, however in real life it looks far larger that in does in video or TV. I serously wonder whether I would be able to get it in my garage. I test drove the Ioniq 5. Again a nice car but it is large. It just fitted into my garage with an inch to spare either side of the wing mirrors. So I will wait to see what the EV4 is like, which hopefully will be launched in 2022.

I love the look of the Ioniq 5, but it would not fit on my drive in SE London without concreting-over our front garden (can only just fit our 2013 Leaf, and that overhangs the pavement a bit)... so depressing... was a big factor in me starting the process to move from my 1930s house!

This is a fantastic video and review. Neither the EV6 nor the Ioniq 5 are available in Canada, but I just made a preview video about the Ioniq 5 when it was featured at the Montréal EV show this past weekend. I thought it was brilliant with a very open interior, an amazing panoramic roof, and a great design with regards to buttons versus touch or tactile. If the EV6 is as spacious, or almost as spacious as the Ioniq 5, then I think Kia has a winner on its hands and I do think it is an excellent rebranding/redesigning of Kia vehicles. I love my e-Niro but you are correct, it was a purchase made with my head not my heart; even though I think it looks good, it is not sexy like the EV6 is... but that's just me :)

I'm in Korea, where H/K/G offers all of their electrics. Length and width wise, EV6 is on par with its Hyundai sibling, while sleeker shape ebbs into headroom and trunk space. In addition to that, you'll have to take account, well, ambiance inside the car. Ioniq 5 is much more airy, while the EV6 feels a bit like a Kia K5. EV6 feels more like a more refined one, though

"things I want to adjust while I'm on the move... temperature" Am I the only one who basically sets the temperature once and basically never touches it again? Why would I want to be constantly adjusting the temperature? Set it to a figure that is comfortable and let the AC handle the rest. It's a hot day? AC will automatically cool the cabin to the set temperature. On a cold day it will heat it up. What's there to adjust?

22 degrees Auto as baseline, 2 down if it is cold out, 2 up if it is hot. Use preconditioning. Move this to where you feel best. The end. He should have picked volume :)
@Xenon00000000000013 жыл бұрын
The same temperature setting can be too hot on a hot humid day with sun coming in or too cold on a wet miserable day. It can also depend on what you're wearing. If you've got a lot of layers on because it's cold outside, you might find yourself getting too hot as you warm up. A fixed air temp doesn't give you a fixed "feels like" temp.
@AlbertLamarque3 жыл бұрын
@@Xenon0000000000001 humidity does not change much if you use the compressor. The eNiro is smaller
@greengecko18763 жыл бұрын
I drive an e-Niro and a Kona E with all the tech. I went to the launch of the EV6 in Bristol when Fully Charged and Robert attended the launch. I came away with mixed feelings. Yes the outside looks great, similar to but different to the Jag. But i remain sceptical about range, it is not as inherently economical as the Niro, Robert made this comment when he drove the Ioniq 5, which makes the larger battery essential. At speed it will be thirsty than the Kona, and a resent road trip south of Geneva, would not have worked easily with the Ioniq 5 as it did with the Kona, because of the spacing of IONITY chargers on the Autoroutes, I wonder if the EV6 would be that much better. Interior, is not head and shoulders above the finish of the Niro, yes it is different, yes it is like a M line BMW, all black and ‘focused’, but the material quality still is notch down from the Audi’s I used to run. Nice but not £50 K premium nice, too much scratchy plastic. To get all the toys, you have to go north of £50K, with paint and then pay extra for a heat pump, c.£1K. Really, stuff like that should be standard with that price level. The boot is not as accommodating as the e-Niro when you have removed the polystyrene layer, as it is very shallow and high, too much space for the rear motor. Sit in the rear like Jack showed you, and your feet will not fit under the front seats, like they will on an Ioniq5, it means rear passengers will have knees bent a lot, as the floor height is compromised by the battery underneath, (just as it is in the Tesla M3). So I guess it drives well, but when you come to reverse out of the drive in the winter, and its rained, and the reversing camera is covered from mud from the road, you really are going to miss a wiper on the rear screen. (Just see a KZbin video about rain remaining on the rear screen of the Ioniq 5). Well I cancelled my Ioniq 5 P45 order, because of efficiency concerns, and I don’t see the EV6 being hugely different, the real world range in a British winter will mean it will travel less distance than the 2 cars I drive at the moment, and as for the accommodation and carrying capacity, I still don’t see the. EV6 being 10 -15 - 20K better than the current lower priced offerings. You still only have a handful, (at the moment) of 350kW chargers. So many merits, but some significant concerns about what you get (or don’t) for the additional premium. Case not proved Jack.
