There's a really good video on another channel about the Buzz. It talks about how image/design saved VW after the water-cooled cars came in. The New Beetle was a cover on the Rabbit setup and really nothing more, yet was transformational. What I didn't realize was that that design came out of California. The German VW heads should be looking outside the company for a new design for their platform -- I personally think a convertible is the missing piece. But the current designs coming from Germany are just awful. I sat in a ID4 for a minute with my daughter at a dealership, and we both just wanted to get out of that box.

Why couldn't they just make a small electric car the size of the Fabia instead? That's what we need... Not yet another overpriced boring SUV/Crossover thing. Update after watching the video: You know your car is boring, when the most interesting thing about it is the boot... Although I do agree that they are very smart design choices.... It's just a shame they are attached to this type of car though. The augmented head ups display is a nice touch too.

The reason they didn't make a Fabia is simple. Their ICE SUVs (Karoq, Kodyaq, Kamiq) have better sales numbers than the Fabia. They try to attract interest where there is demand.

I really wish they'd just keep the roof as is and extend that back end by 20-30 cm instead, all in the boot...call it an ID3 Tourer, stick a Skoda badge on it and call it an Octavia EV...I'd want it either way.

It would be great to see that cable storage in the tailgate. The parcel shelf is one of the first things to be removed as soon as the car is loaded up for the first tip run. Great idea to remove the cable from under the boot floor, but not convinced this stowage will be in place after 12 months of normal use. A HUD should be on ALL EVs as a safety measure.

The channel gets better and better. We have Roland to review small cars, Jack to review medium sized cars and unless Robert has got even smaller you need a 5'0" presenter to review the largest SUVs! Skoda have made an impressive car, and as it is a Skoda the manufacturing quality control will be excellent. Pricing wise, once you include a few sensible options the 77 kw battery version will be over £40k, possibly close to £45k which is way too much for a Skoda. Probably £6-9k over priced for the larger battery version with the smaller battery version probably about £3k too much However, it is still a lot better than VW cars

Boot really does look nice, but I mostly want a place to put the cover thing when I don't use it, which is 99% of the time -- right now that place is the garage, which means I don't use it 100% of the time. Cooled charger is a really good idea. HUD is mandatory. Everything should have a HUD. "Design language" translates into English as "fast forward now" -- the only design language I am interested in is "not an SUV". On the back seats... How could you have avoided a Kia Ray EV for so long? All these back seats are puny, miserable holes, including this one. Do a video on the Ray, guys.

It is a bit sad that it is still based on a 400V battery architecture instead of 800V, which could allow for a fast DC charge from 10% to 80% in 15mn, and also that there isn’t Vehicule-to-Home (V2H) to use the car as a home storage battery pack, and 2 Vehicule-to-Load (V2L) plugs : these are useful features.

I remember how Skoda tried to break into the North American market after the fall of the Soviet Union. It was an absolute disaster. Sure they were cheap, but they were also terrible. I have nothing against Skoda and I welcome their return to Canada, but they had better be reliable, good in winter, and properly priced. It certainly _looks_ nice. I would _really_ like to see cars come with built in dash cameras.

It's not the third. Škoda already had a small production of electric cars in the 1990s. With models like *Škoda Eltra* (1991 - 1993) 150 - 200 units produced and *Škoda Beta EL* (1995 - 1996) only small series in combination with the ICE version up to 100 pieces.

How would you define affordable? One person’s expensive is someone else’s bargain. For me, it’s not cheap, but I’m planning to keep our 4 year old Kia for a few years yet. This could well be the next one.

Skoda are late to the party with a full range of EV's. This one is only their 2nd EV (not counting the now defunct Citigo). It looks like a good option but it's still way too expensive as a new car for the average punter. I have an issue with any car that costs more than the price of my first house!! I'm going to nick the net under the parcel shelf idea for the charging cable for our EV. Should be able to MacGyver something similar with some existing nets myself. TBH I'm more interested in the even smaller Skoda Epiq which is due out next year.
