BRAVO JACK! Who else is calling for small efficient EV's? Only 70% of market that is not buying EV's only because they are still too expensive for compromises. With lower price and dimensions, compromises are smaller and larger part of market is now target for that product. Back in 70's 80's 90's we had mid segment cars with ONLY TWO DOORS THAT WERE NOT SPORT BUT ECONOMY MODELS AND WERE CONSIDERABLY CHEAPER, Astra, Golf, Escort, Kadett, Ritmo, Tipo, R19 are only from top of my head, even Sierra, Rekord two door economy engines and not GTi versions. Then in 90s they dropped economy 2 door cars and now we have market that does now work because 4 doors is more expensive to produce and is heavier and then less economic. so please give us economy cars that are usable and again BRAVO JACK for saying that :)

I absolutely love the cute little choo-choo. They absolutely should make an ad for it exploiting the similarity. A delightfully sensible review which is fully family-friendly! Well done, Jack. I knew all along that you could do it. 🙂👍 I like the Ami too, but wish that it had similar range and performance to the Renault Twizy. I'd buy one in a flash as a town runabout if Citroen would only make those much needed improvements. As it is right now, with a top speed of barely 25 mph, it's downright dangerous in cities and towns outside of capitals such as London. Our city has several main roads with 40 mph speed limits which either go through the city or go to its suburbs. Crawling along at an eventual 28 mph on level ground runs a big risk of a dull grey microcar like the Ami being shunted and shattered, even in daytime. Also, why doesn't the U.K. have something akin to the French Sans Permis, the Portuguese equivalent, or even the Chinese 'Happy Old Man' category of road vehicles? The nearest we have is the moped, which is nothing close to being as practical and safe as a small four wheeler, especially in our notoriously damp climate.

If you're saying 4m/kWh is what they think you'll get, it'll be closer to 3.5 on average across all driving conditions summer, and 3 in winter. That makes it a 150 to 180 mile range car. Which is plenty for most journeys but I do want maybe 50-100 miles more for the every few months longer journeys. I have an e-208 and currently seeing 120 in this weather. The e-C4 sits on the same platform too, so I think your 150 mile winter range is very likely. I completely agree with you about the handful of times you need more range to be a deal-breaker. I have the current e-C4, and I don't like the facelift at all, the one I have is approximately 100,000,000 times more attractive than this one- the silver under the lower intake makes it look much bigger, even though it is the same size as on the current one. The square lights look like someone has had the hacksaw out to bodge fit cheap aftermarket LED bars into the panels. (A lot of this could be the choice of colour, a lighter colour might improve things) On the other hand, the larger display will be very welcome, and they seem to have done away with the button by the handbrake that puts a huge uninformative animation of regen on the centre screen. What I'd like to see is 1) a gear shifter instead of the little switch- I don't think I will ever get used to it and have to look at it every time I use it, whereas a shift lever falls to hand nicely 2) actual numerical information on the screens, things like current power consumption/regen rate, remaining charge %, battery/motor temperatures etc. (what I'd really like is for the outside to be 90% of the size whilst keeping the inside the same, which they could do by removing the void spaces at the front and sides, then you could actually open the door enough to get out in a parking space, and not overhang the end of it!) Does it still have the awkward tablet holder that doesn't actually fit anything- when a tray that slides out and angles like a music stand would have been better? top tip: get the front camera, it was a £350 option on the old one. It adds self park and gives you a wide angle creeping out onto the road view sideways. I'd rather the original purchaser of mine had specified it with poverty white paint and the camera than the £650 coloured paint I do have if money had been tight....

is it possible they intentionally made the Ami look so bad that the E-C4 looks much better than it actually is at the dealership
@pmozart9280Ай бұрын
That ami car you can literally out run it 😂
@mbak7801Ай бұрын
The Ami would make a fantastic punishment car. Make it a category that drunk drivers can still drive as they work off their ban. Imagine roaring around in a Porsche or Tesla and then having to go to work in an Ami. Fun cars yes but a bit of a come down if they are the only way to keep your job

Have they improved the useless demister blower for the front screen on the Ami..

Skips straight to the new Ami lol 8:23

Love the little Ami and as a robotaxi it would work and the French could really piss off Mr Musk 🤣 As for the car outside just another Euro box put glad to see the French bunnies have been hard at work keeping the grass to eu regulations .

It's a bit long in the tooth now but the Megan E-Tech 'still' looks better! It hides boring rear doors!

@Jack - is there any Goodyear hat you are missing in your collection? Love it ❤

Dont you thinkt the Ami is a little too expensive for what it is? It's like all the clever cost cutting measures they took didn't reflect on the price of the car 🤔

I will never buy another "saloon", give me a hatch or estate every day of the week. If compact MPVs (Picasso types) ever come back, I'll take one of those too.
@TsukiShimizuАй бұрын
Yes a hatch or estate is nicer but I'll take a saloon over a wannabe suv any day of the week
@philipcrossley1279Ай бұрын
@@TsukiShimizu I have a wannabe SUV, simply because there were no longer any new(er) MPVs available to replace my 80k miles 2.0 blueHDI Picasso a year ago, so I bought a 2.0 diesel C5 Aircross, simply because I have wrecked knees and need something I can get in and out of easily, but I don't like SUVs in general.
@CptAngelKGamingАй бұрын
@@TsukiShimizu So you can have worse visibility, worse comfort, 0 ability for even light offroading and destroy the car with every pothole? Nah. Stop parotting that nonsense. There is a reason SUVs are so popular.
@mystisith3984Ай бұрын
I dig the Oli design waaay more than the old one & I too, am cheering at the end of fugly SUVs in general. I love the new Ami too but the fact that they didn't add range in any shape and form 4 years later is problematic. With all the progress going on in the EV world, they couldn't find a way to add +10% range?? Come on! The new Mini Renault Mobilize has DOUBLE its range for only +2K€! It's going to steal their lunch.

and no boot hatch either

I always liked the Ami, and that just got stronger. The E-C4 however, boring? I like the E-C3 much better..

Matt black plastic anywhere on a car is a real turn-off for me.

I agree, the competition is too stiff for a likely 150 mile range in the winter. Probably a bit low for some. The new (old) logo is damn ugly. It looks like an Easter egg.

We went on holiday last week, about 165 miles each way. I noticed all the chargers in the two service stations we stopped in were occupied. I don't mind a bit of inconvenience but this is enough to put me off.
