In this video I’m going to be walking you through a fun and simple pyrography project that I like to do. This project is perfect for beginners, but is also great for experienced burners who just want to play around with a fun and simple project.
The burner I use is a Razertip SS-D10:

Beautiful box! Great at explaining, easy to follow video. I was glad you slowed it down in a few spots to see. :) I just got my 116 piece burning kit today and just figured out how to assemble it, I was just looking for what projects I can soon do with it. I subscribed, so looking forward to seeing more soon to do projects. Thanks!

Loved this idea. The boxes are super cheap at the hobby store so I wasn't worried about messing it up. I made this for my wife and she absolutely loved it. Nice touch with the felt inside. I'm new to pyrography and have almost no drawing capability but you made this easy to follow and it turned out great. Thank you so much.

@WildwoodStudio
@WildwoodStudio 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! :) The walnut hollow versa tool is popular, so are Colwood and Razertip burners (mines a Razertip) the main thing is to pick something with a heat dial and not get tricked by a cheap Amazon knock off that will melt lol Good luck!

I have watched a handful of your videos and I love your work. Most of all the Celtic knotwork I'm part Irish and Scottish, and would like to start doing this also. My question is with all of the different tips out there are there 4-5 I could use just to get started???...and would you mind telling me which tips those would be? Thx again Sláne

Great video. I am just about to woodburn a drawing of the Silver Surfer onto a bodyboard I have made. Can I sand it down slightly after I have burnt the picture on or will it smear??? thanks
@WildwoodStudio
@WildwoodStudio 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! :) Sounds like a cool project. I would sand the board as smooth as possible before you burn it, if you sand it after I don’t think it would smear but you would lose detail. I only sand my burnings if I’ve made a mistake and I want to get rid of it. Good luck with your project!

Beautiful! Can you use a water based polyurethane on this after burning? I'm not sure if it will smear some of the burned-charcoal.
@WildwoodStudio
@WildwoodStudio 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I use a brush on water based wood finish and it doesn’t smear the burning. It will smear added colours though, especially watercolours and pencil crayons. For burnings with colour I use an aerosol version of the same finish and it works out well :)

I brought a small wooden chest from the works, tryed burning into it it was ok but what would you recomend to use as it was like craft wood or something
@WildwoodStudio
@WildwoodStudio 4 ай бұрын
Basswood is the easiest to burn in my opinion. With boxes it’s hard to find ones made of a specific type of wood unless you want to make them yourself. I think the box I did in this video was some sort of craft wood as well.

I am just a beginner, but another video said graphite was easier to erase than carbon. When they did a demo of both graphite sure looked easier. Some people scribble on the back with a pencil to coat the back of the sheet. Then turn it over nd trace the image. Pencils are graphite.
@WildwoodStudio
@WildwoodStudio 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I use pencil because I think it’s easier to erase than carbon (though I haven’t tried carbon paper) that’s what happens when you use tracing paper, you draw the image backwards on the tracing paper then turn it over and scribble on it to transfer it to the wood (or whatever surface). I think covering a whole sheet in pencil by scribbling on it would take much longer than just tracing on both sides. It would also be very messy, my hands are usually black after that much scribbling and I have to wash them before I can burn.

What kind of tracing paper did u use? I got some tracing paper,but ,when I put it on the wood and I go over it with the pencil,nothing transfers to the wood. (New to pyrography) Thanks
@WildwoodStudio
@WildwoodStudio 2 жыл бұрын
Did you draw on both sides of the paper? There has to be graphite in contact with the wood for anything to transfer. You could also try graphite paper, then you only have to trace it once
