Hello, perfectionist here, who feels a bit stuck up with all those patterns. Fantasizing about being more creative… and this video is giving me permission to just do it! Sew, thank you much, much, much. Love your style in putting it together and the results are absolutely fantastic. Will give it a try because I want to have fun creating something unique to me. I’m so excited to have found your KZbin site! You’re quilted a moo cow in the middle of the road! We’re going to get on like a house on fire (not a quilty house though… they’re way to flammable!) I’m finishing a wonky Irish chain quilt (wonky because I can’t sew a straight line yet vs on purpose) But as soon as I’m finished I’m going full hard hat quilty construction girl and building houses galore!!!

Love your first quit. I love improv/modern quilts. I love big block quilts. I do what I call "organic" piecing. If they are different sizes, colors, wonky, whatever, that's how it's going to be. I'm going to sew a bunch of house bases, then go back and add roofs. 😊

This looks like so much fun! I can’t wait to try it. Improve is so forgiving. I spent the weekend organizing my scraps by color. I don’t throw much out either. I try to buy thrifted material and remnants, and save my scraps til they take over. Then I donate the smaller crumbs. I even have a friend who uses the tiny strings of material for rope bowls. Now that my scraps are by color, this project will be fun to try.

OMG! 😻 I can’t wait to try some of these ideas. I’ve been so stuck lately with following tutorials. I feel like I can’t do anything without a tutorial but now I feel free enough to try just messing around. I always have loved the combination of watercolor and black pen. Zentangle stuff on watercolor is great fun. And neurologic art is also very satisfying. I love the idea of showing these as wall art, you mentioned Canva…. I don’t know how to do that but I’m going to look into that. I also subscribed to your channel and look forward to listening to your beautiful voice.

New subscriber here! I just discovered your KZbin channel yesterday, and spent so much time bingeing your videos! I absolutely LOVE your style!!! Thank you so much for all the awesome ideas. You’ve given me inspiration to reclaim my craft room that has slowly become a sort of storage unit over the last year. 😢 And these houses are so adorable. ❤ I can’t wait to go through my stash and see if I can make some for a wall-hanging for my craft room! If I can give you one bit of advice/critique, I assure you it’s out of genuine concern for your well-being. I can tell you’ve been sewing for a lot of your life, and we are creatures of habit… but I cringe in fear every time I see you use a rotary cutter without a ruler. I’ve seen terrible accidents happen. Please protect your talented hands! Rotary blades can get away from you so easily, and they are SO dangerous! If you want to make a fast cut, and you aren’t concerned with precision, just grab your fabric scissors instead. 😉 Keep on creating! You’re so much fun to watch!

Absolutely nailed an exciting & inspiring video Nikki!! Everything about this idea, the creative possibilities & the super helpful details on how to construct the block make this one my favourite so far (well have to include the wonky trees in this). Although I'm normally a perfectionist I much prefer this approach simply because it is liberating from the usual balanced/matching/all lined up approach which can make the creative process stressful. I am buzzing with ideas for scrap busting now and can't wait to start a relaxing wonky quilt. Thank you 🤩🤩🤩
