Maybe a silly question but is the method with the flashing with the light in solarisation the same as "flashing" the paper?
@Trangent8 жыл бұрын
+Gideon Horn Those are two different techniques. Flashing for solarization occurs halfway through development of paper or when the image first starts to emerge. Flashing to lower contrast of paper is done before the negative has been projected onto the paper so it is a two-step process-first flash the paper, then expose it to the negative. Easy if you have two enlargers but also do-able if not.

Really like your style, have been enjoying your vids since finding them. Did you make the Solarization video?
@Trangent8 жыл бұрын
+dochertyinbc Thank you!!! The only solarization video we've made so far is this one. I'll suggest it to Prof. Agar. This video shows what is possible with solarization and hopefully inspires photographers to be very creative! :))

at about 6:17 Prof says he made a "copy negative" and was able to make new prints from this. How is this done? btw, thank you for all these videos.
@Trangent5 жыл бұрын
Professor Agar says, "Several ways. One way is to take a photograph of the finished print using very slow, fine-grained film. Use of a tripod and balanced lights is assumed. I would use a 4x5 view camera to get the best result. Another way is to scan the finished print, reverse it in Photoshop and print off a transparency negative. This would be ideal for alternative processes such as cyanotypes or platinum printing." Hope this helps RW! Thank you for watching and good luck to you! :)

Great videos do you dilute the Potassium Ferrocyanide for local bleaching if so be how much Thanks JB
@Trangent4 жыл бұрын
Professor Agar says, "Yes, the stronger the liquid the faster it works which would be uncontrollable. I have used packets of Kodak's Sepia Toner (this brand no longer made but similar toner by someone else-see Freestyle Photo) and for localized, diluted the package mix even more. Remember, you cannot make a mistake as once you bleach too far you can bring it back with redevelopment." Best of luck to you John!! L
