I am so fortunate to have learned some groundwork. My horses past and present have benefited from this and of course, me too!!

So appreciate that you are working with a horse that is not perfect! It makes it real! Thanks for sharing the fixes when the horse is somewhat aloof on the ground. Thank you again.

Yes it helps a lot, thank you dear Amelia. Now I always make my mares drop their heads as soon possible. They obviously seem to release. But one of them is like your mare, she is a bit anxious about all happening around or what perhaps could happen then this is so important to help her to relax. 😊👍🏻

Nice inhand warmup. As a mare owner I agree, they are always on the lookout.

I like the idea of ground work is really riding from the ground. That's where I learned to ride. I started with no knowledge so it was a good way to learn, especially since I have always had horses that were really unsafe to begin with. Essentially restarting horses and learning to ride at the same time. I'm glad I spent so much time on the ground. I believe that it made me a better rider. One thing that I learned that has been helpful with pushy horses, I like to end each thing I ask with a step or two straight back with a soft feel. The soft feel is a very important piece. Thank you for your videos. You are a wonderful rider.

How to focus on riding for exercises
@yolandasegurotome98986 жыл бұрын
Hi Amelia - do you ever start the work session with some ground work and then go on to the riding? My horse is very distracted, not in a spooky way, just curious and nosey! I’m trying to work out a strategy for getting him to focus on me and the work but not squashing his curiosity. Any ideas?

Why can't you ride in the rain? I'm from Norway and here it rains like everyday. If I could not ride in the rain I would never ride, pretty much.
