Just wanted to say I really like the new vibes; the open windows with wind and bird sounds, etc. Keep it up, dude.

"Thank God that we have any of these things to begin with" Absolutely! I remember about 15 or so years ago (still notionally Anglican but increasingly disaffected with the state of the Church of England, and yet to begin the journey to Orthodoxy) I searched high and low for a pocket psalter. In the end I fell back on my old pocket-size BCP. Now we are spoilt for choice! My go-to is the Psalter for Prayer, because it's robust, pocket-size, and the familiar Coverdale translation, plus all the kathisma prayers. It took a year or so to break it in -- that is one solid binding! -- but I love it. My dream psalter, though, as I read Greek and attend a Greek-speaking church, would be bilingual Greek/English (Coverdale). But that might require slightly bigger pockets :) So glad to see you have a new feline friend in your new abode. As we know, cats are Orthodox! Now, I don't wish to hijack anything, but my own housing situation is a bit precarious right now. I know St Xenia of St Petersburg is on the case, but if others are moved to pray for me as well, that would be much appreciated. Christ is risen!

I would LOVE the HTM Psalter bound with the HTM Prayer book since it includes Small Compline. Would add a few prayers from St. Tikhon’s like Against the Antichrist.

I have decided to create a personal prayer book that combines some of my favorite elements from my favorite prayer books, and my preferred psalter translation.

Greetings Brother Raphael! I must say that since I've discovered your channel last year, I absolutely have fun while watching your reviews of various prayerbooks! I truly appreciate your reviews as they have been instrumental in re-establishing my inquiry into Orthodoxy. Since watching, I have two prayerbooks: Little Red and the Melkite Prayer book. I recently backed the indiegogo campaign for the revised Anthologion, praying that the goal will be reached. Anyway, thanks for your diligence, even through the rough patches. Know that you and your family are in my prayers. Though I also miss Spooky Cat, I'm so very happy that you've found your new "co-host." 🐈 Pray for me that my steps will be rightly ordered on becoming a catachumen soon! 🙏🏾🕊 Christ is Risen!

The first prayer book that I had was the Jordanville prayer book. it’s my go to I find sometimes when I’m reading other translations, the OCA prayer book or the prayer book, or the holy trans prayer book their translations seem to be lacking. I got the certain pairs I can’t read so immediately I put that prayer book down, and I go back to the old Jordanville prayer book. But my favorite and I have to say this is my old believers prayer books . For some reason., that is my favorite. And my Lestovka . Great video as always. Thanks

Hey, buddeh! Christ is risen! Here’s my idea: All the fixings like the Anthologion, using the Old-rite translation/typeset/look and feel, full HTM psalter (full like the big blue one), the canons and akathists of the Jordanville and toss in the canon of repentance. I hope Grimdark pulls through. He seems like a great dude. I love his channel.

I would love to see a Byzantine-inspired Book of Common Prayer: Morning Prayer/Mid Day Prayer/Evening Prayer, Daily Apolytikion, Coverdale Psalter (no copyright), KJV Readings (no copyright), Pre and Post Communion Prayers.

A perfect prayer book for me would be a combination of the New Testament, Psalter, and Prayerbook. I see a lot of old Russian Prayerbooks are put together like that.

Now I'm in the midst of watching this. Regarding your comment about the little prayer book you need reading glasses for, that reminds me, my godmother had this lovely white prayer book about the same size with the biblical paper. I never got to look in it, but boy, I wished I had that same book!

@@OrthodoxReview Orthodox. She was a livelong Orthodox Christian who grew up in Pennsylvania, I think, and moved to DC when she married. I was in an OCA parish when I became Orthodox. She came from a Lemko background. I really wish I knew who published the book; I suspect it may have been published by the jurisdiction that is now OCA. I'm going to have to try and see if I can get in touch with her daughter; it's been a couple years since I last talked to her.

when you start including the psalter you'll likely have to expand into 2 or 3 volumes, which obviously drastically increases the price. this is the cross us Latin Rite RCs have to deal with for our breviaries, costing above 300 USD if you don't know latin 💀

I just found your channel, and im binging on reviews as my insomnia is unrelenting tonight. Im enjoying your content very much. Im just dipping my toes into orthodox teachings and finding it to be where i want to be as it pretty much is alligned with my beliefs already. I just live very isolated and there isnt a church anywhere near me here in Baptist country. What is the recommended prayer book and psalter for someone like me? There's so many!
@OrthodoxReview4 ай бұрын
Glory to God! If your eyesight is good, the pocket prayer book and psalms is perfect. Otherwise, the St Tikhon prayer book and the HTM psalter would be good for starters.

Have you checked out the new edition of the Old Rite Horologion from 2022? Honestly it was disappointing. So many layout and printing errors and a downgrade in terms of aesthetic quality. I emailed Fr. Pimen and apparently he had no idea that there were problems with the new printing. So I sent him a few pictures. Hopefully they fix it in the next edition.
