@Lost pelican hell yes it is! That book is scary. You know what brings me comfort.... if even 1% of what these people believe is true then blasphemy is the single unforgivable sin. Blasphemy was translated from a word that was used only 4 other times within the Bible, the only way you can translate any word in the Bible is based on where else it is used in the Bible, and it actually meant "one who claims to speak for God". Not saying God Damn, not qn occasional Jesus Christ when things get on your nerves but actually claiming you know what God is trying to say! If that is the only UNFORGIVABLE sin then I can't wait for these evil bastards to get their God Damn just desserts!!

@@micheleengel3428 Okay, but you know the Bible has contradictory messages right? So what are we supposed to do, shun gay people or love thy neighbor? There is NO way you can not pick and chose what the bible says because the bible was written by different authors, with different beliefs, over the course of multiple centuries so... you might as well shun gay people or love thy neighbor. It's up to you to decide, but personally, I don't get why so many Christians chose the former when there's only one verse in the entire bible that speaks ill about homosexuals and a ton of other verses in it that tells us to not judge and instead accept people who are different.

@@micheleengel3428 I mean they technically have the right to hold any opinion, but that doesn't make it any less destructive. Imagine saying "I don't think straight couples who are infertile should be allowed to be in relationships because a book told me the purpose of relationships is to reproduce. I think those people should be alone forever. Sorry, just my opinion!" and then half-heartedly saying "well I *guess* I could be friends with an infertile couple, and I *suppose* if they invited me to their home I wouldn't make a point of rubbing their faces in the fact I believe their relationship is a sham and shouldn't be allowed" or even saying "I LOVE the infertile people in my life (I just don't believe they should be allowed to be in relationships but) I'm such a loving person!!!"......... I mean, you're not going to get arrested for saying that, nothing will happen to you. You have the right to hold that opinion. But of course most people will think you are a horrible two-faced person and not want to be around you, and will perceive you publicly stating those beliefs as extremely insulting to infertile people!! Do you see what I mean? As they always say: freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences. In this case the consequences are people around you feel hurt and disrespected and don't want to be your friend any more. Now imagine you took it further and didn't just insult infertile couples in your social circle but actually advocated and campaigned for political policies which would take away their right to be married (including the legal privileges and protections marriage entails, not to mention the emotional impact) because you "disagree with their relationships." Then infertile people would not only think you're a nasty person and not want to be your friend but would rightly feel that you are causing them very real harm. You can use the words 'polite disagreement' all you want and say "it's just how I was raised" and use 🤗 emojis till the cows come home, but in reality it is discrimination based on biological factors people have no control over. It's cruel, it's pointless and people have AT LEAST as much right to criticise you and refuse to associate with you because of it as you have the right to hold your opinions and vote for your chosen policies.

I'm a survivor of csa facilitated by extreme religion. It was generational in my paternal aide until I broke they cycle. If you raise your children with the ability to ask questions and healthy attitude to there own bodies, abuse has no place to fester. This is why they are were they are. Repression only breeds abuse.

Plus, since Jim Bob controls all of the money she would not receive anything if she tried to leave Josh and take the kids with her. Where do they get that divorce is unforgiveable? Josh already cheated in the past, and they do view sexual abuse as sexual sin, so I think CSA content being found on his computer would count as adultery at least to them. And also, Anna is incredibly naïve if she hasn't even pushed for some kind of investigation into whether he was actually abusing their own kids. ANYWAY - yeah, he's doing sexual stuff outside of their marriage. I would think they would think this falls under the umbrella of adultery, Biblically permitting Anna to leave the marriage.

It was meeting and working with lots of of the LGBTQ community and having many reconstructions of my beliefs that made me see the truth. I think there is hope for Jill and Derrick. They are still young and alot of the beliefs that they were brainwashed with are still sticking. I hope as they experience real life and talk with many people, that they will see what is real.

100% agree. I was a deeply closeted bi trans man and holy fuck I was homophobic and transphobic. I was taught to despise anything LGBTQIA+, I had it preached to me over and over and over that gay people were making a choice and they'd go to hell. I struggled a ton because of my bisexuality. I did like men, but I liked women too. I thought I was "choosing" to NOT be gay by dating a man. I didn't understand bisexuality at all, and because of that it put me into an odd position where it did feel like if I found a girl attractive that I was choosing to do that.

I think they separate the “action” of homosexuality from the fact of being gay. It’s like you don’t make the choice to be “same sex attracted” as they say but you make a choice to act on it. I personally don’t see much wrong with them thinking that acting on homosexual feelings is wrong as long as they don’t think being gay means you as a person deserve less rights or as long as they don’t hurt or Harass people because of those beliefs. To get caught up on them not being “perfect” allies is really dumb because a lot of lgbtq people aren’t good allies to other members of the community I mean bisexuality is like never even considered lol. Once they get more and more comfortable with deciding for themselves what they see as “sinful” (like how weird sins have been basically removed as sins) they can grow even more to understand the beauty of the lgbtq community.

Rumors say Josh was downloading hurtcore. The internet is littered with forums and communities of latent pedophiles who don't act upon those urges. And though they carry that dangerous paraphilia inside of them, they explicitly ban hurtcore from their sites and aggressively rat out anyone who dares post or advertise any. Hearing that even most pedophiles loathe hurtcore and condemn it as a bridge way too far even for them, it figures that whatever Josh was downloading would be the worst the Homeland Security agent has ever seen! And if law enforcement can FINALLY nail Josh, even inmates convicted of unrelated TYPES of crimes, who'd been railroaded by the justice system, would probably tear Josh apart out of resentment for all the lucky breaks he got between about '002 and '018.

I know the type, I grew up all around them. All I can say is from what I've seen (cannot speak for people I don't know) they *think* they're doing the best they can. For the most part they aren't hate filled people, at least not consciously. Unconscious biases and preconceived notions, definitely full of those. Just lost tbh.

I hate people who comment on other people's makeup skills. style isn't always indicative of skill level and honestly unless it's your own face, why do you care what someone else does to their face? I love the looks that you do, and anyone here is usually here for the subject matter, not for a tutorial, so idk what people are expecting. also LOVING the new hair! it looks fantastic 💜💖

It took me so long to learn that you don't need to be a "beauty guru" to enjoy makeup, just like you don't need to be a "perfect artist" to enjoy making art. Same can apply to most things. Being perfect is overrated. Having fun should be the main goal, always.

As a gay man who grew up in a very legalistic religious household, I think we should be cutting Jill some slack. People don’t wake up one morning and realize that everything they thought they knew was a lie and suddenly change all of their beliefs at once. Changing your worldview is a process and it isn’t always fast. It’s ok if the process of leaving behind oppressive religious views takes time. And I for one appreciate any movement away from bigotry. I’d much rather be in a room full of people who disagree with my sexuality but still see me as a person than in a room full of people who aren’t willing to discuss anything other than how I’m damned for being queer. Jill and Derek see their faith as an intrinsic part of their identity. Just like I see my sexuality as an intrinsic part of my identity. I can disagree with them and think that their most closely held beliefs are nonsense but still respect them and be cordial with them if I was to interact with them. If they’re at a place where that’s how they feel about people like me, I’m fine with that. I wish them the best.

As an aspiring social worker who has worked with survivors of childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault I can honestly say that the Joshi Duggar stuff is incredibly triggering. I cannot imagine what it must be like to have reporting on this is your job with no back up and no ability to decompress and get this stuff out of your system. If you ever need to talk I would be happy to help I am not licensed yet but I’m getting there. Also James did an amazing job on the last video and it was really awesome. I’m sorry you had to do this and I’m also very sorry that you will feel the need to report on the verdict, you are doing the universe’s work and I appreciate your crusade. Be blessed and stay in your truth .

I heard that Anna was, indeed, Josh’s accountabilibuddy, which is messed up since the IBLP teaches that if a husband strays, it’s the wife’s responsibility, since she must not be meeting his needs. What sort of accountability could she hold over him (since the “husband is the head of the wife”)?

Jill and Derrick in that video sound a lot like me when I was in high school and transitioning from being a “straight” evangelical to a lesbian “chill Christian” to now a lesbian non-binary atheist I’m interested to see their evolving over the next few years
@sassylittleprophet
@sassylittleprophet 2 жыл бұрын
I know. I was raised in the IFB cult, and I went from a "straight" fundamentalist, to a chill Christian lesbian, to a nonbinary atheist lesbian. Everyone else is like "they're not accepting and are speaking condescendingly," but what I keep thinking is "but they're respecting pronouns," like, do you know how RARE that is for fundamentalist Christians? We're taught to believe that "calling people out on their sin" is the right thing to do, calling someone by their preferred pronouns is specifically seen as a BIG no no (because you're encouraging them to lie to themselves). I recognise it's a baby step, but coming from fundie culture, this is a HUGE baby step. Like, just having LGBTQ+ friends AT ALL (outside of the fundie bubble) . . . I don't think people who weren't raised IFB understand how HUGE this is. Those LGBTQ+ friends are no doubt making them question EVERYTHING they've ever been taught about that. Like . . . I realise it's still painful and they still have a long way to go, but as a former fundie, this is huge.
