The 2 guitarists are over the TOP for this genre. They´ve got the METAL in it! These riffs so sweet :D
@waffentalenyoyo43099 жыл бұрын
Kris Coombs-Roberts it's just the best guitarist in this genre. Because it's not just about playing: it's also about composing and feeling rythms. No one have these riffs in post-hardcore, it's a personal sign of FFAF and that's because Kris is here.

Funeral for a Friend were a band I grew up listening to in my high school years about 15 years ago. I've played guitar for about 10 years as well so believe me when I say they are masters of rhythm guitar and I can't really find anyone to top them in the UK now. I had all of their albums up to and including Hours but started to listen to other genres of music since them. I just had a whim to listen to my favourite bands of the past and I'm pleasantly surprised but Funeral for a Friend - never expected them to be solo type people and especially for the post hardcore genre. I always knew they had the talent to solo but never showed it. Dynatwenty is 100% correct, too much guitar for the genre but that doesn't make the song bad - it makes it bad ass. Great stuff - I'm missing my childhood and Oh God, I'm 27 this year...

This band along with Silverstein, The Hurt Process, Taking Back Sunday, Avenged Sevenfold, Hawthorne Heights, As I lay Dying and many more in the early to mid 2000s got me through 3 years stationed over seas in Japan. When ever I hear these guys it brings back a surge of memories...memories well missed.

When these videos come up on youtube for me now I am filled with a mixed sense of awe and sadness. Awe because FFAF never fail to make me love music more than anything in the world. They have made my favourite rock songs, my favourite pop songs, my favourite metal songs and pretty much defined my entire guitar style. Sadness because the knowledge that the band are braking up in just a couple of months so that they won't be releasing any new material for me to fall in love with makes me sad. It is sad to know that a group filled with such talent is coming to an end.

Maybe it's just because I have been listening to them since Casually Dressed came out in 2003, but I liked every album they ever put out with the exception of Tales..., but looking back I don't dislike that one as much as I did in 2007. Thankful for every album this band ever put out because each one of them is completely different, none sound the same

@@imbranato6758 sick bruh! that album legit has the best post hardcore riffs and noodlings. the pre-chorus for Owls.. the main riff for Aftertaste.. the breakdown of Man Alive at 1:48 (sounds kinda like a solo but more like noodling to me).. LITERALLY THE WHOLE OF OLD HYMNS.. holy fuck it's so good. why the hell arent more people talking about this album?
