Hey great video ... as I mentioned in a previous video where I commented ... which you may or may not have read ... I was a Paramedic for 30 years and my wife never woke up when I got called out in the middle of the night ... and then there's the events you miss going to with your spouse because you are out on a call and they have to go to the event without you ... but you are correct in that one's spouse hopefully will be flexible with a profession like yours and like what I did. But I guess I paid my dues because now I'm retired and loving it. But I do miss my profession. Definitely would like to see more videos with your husband included.

Yes, it was good to meet your husband. You two are an ornery, funny & grounded couple. May you always share your bonds. I'm still curious why the car smells. Lol Fabuloso takes odors out of cars miricously. I use " Clean Smart" spray afterwards for germs, and then a vehicle essential oil diffuser in the vent with "Purification oil" ( Young Living). Yes.. i bet he could tell us some stories, hehehe. Stay safe family.

Great video as always Lauren! 👍You guys seem to mesh so well together. Definitely would like to see more with you together. My other half (aka: The Boss) has threatened me a number of times that she's going to build a mud room in the carport so I can change clothes and shower before I walk in the house. You guys have a great week!

What would you do/how would you feel if your significant other didn’t approve or support what you do? I have recently been thinking of switching careers and my family has been very supportive but my boyfriend had a very negative reaction to me telling him that I’m interested in a career in the funeral industry.
@LittleMissFuneral6 жыл бұрын
Sammy5736 this is a really hard profession to be in, and my husbands support helps me when I have difficult days. I would talk with your boyfriend and ask him why he has reservations about you working in the funeral industry. Is it the hours that he doesn’t like, or the fact that you’re working with the dead? If you both are honest with one another and talk it through you can better understand each other’s point of view. I don’t think I could do this job without the support of my husband, but others maybe could. Good luck with everything!

Not on the same subject right now, but why does every licensed professional called themselves directors? When I first started in the funeral industry, I started @ a funeral establishment that was owned & operated by a lovely lady who had been in business for ions, & on all her advertising materials, as well as anything else, she was adamant recognized as Mrs. L. T. Hewing, L.F.D. (Licensed Funeral Directress), never director, she always said that she was a lady & always conducted herself as a lady, & would never answer to the title of director, but the way women conduct services nowaday, theyre justified in being called "director"! They dont conduct themselves or services as ladies, they simply throw the bereaved families anything & think that its alright, & to make matters worse, the public as well as the families accept it as a job well done, & I just stand back & cringe, taking mental notes on how many things they do is totally unacceptable by standards & my time frame. (Yesteryear)! BYW: Mrs. L. T. Hewing remained in business from 1928-1984, & sadly demised in 1987 @ the ripe old age of 101. Now tell me the funeral industry wasnt blessed!

I would like to know how you work with and prepare partial decaps from start to finish? Because I once knew a young teenage girl who was partially decapitated, just out of curiosity I was wondering how those situations were taken care of? Sorry about asking that question but that as well as other death situations have to be dealt with like any other.

I too liked this video and you're very lucky that your husband is so flexible with your schedule and work life. I bet he's an exception. I asked a couple questions earlier for this video when you asked for them. They didn't really get asked on the video but I think he answered them indirectly anyway.
@LittleMissFuneral7 жыл бұрын
stxer did you ask some on my Facebook? I received some questions on a Facebook post after we filmed this. We are going to be filming about Q&A in the future in which I'll have him answer those questions, too, so thank you for asking! And I am very lucky. He is very understanding but we've been together a long time, so it's just become our norm!
@stxer49087 жыл бұрын
Hi LMF, I don't recall writing any questions here, so then it must have been on your Facebook page. But, as I mentioned, my question was answered on this video even though you didn't see it before recording this. Thank you for replying!

Great video Lauren. I know funeral directors are VERY busy when someone dies, my question is how many days a week (on average) is your funeral home not handling a death? If you folks dealt with 2-3 deaths a week then you would be straight out, but are there weeks with no customers when it's not so crazy, and how often does that happen? I live in MA, I see your old college, Mount Ida is closing. Lots of contraversy around that decision.

OMG! What a cute couple of people!! First of all, I have lived and worked within the funeral industry for about 55 years. I must take issue with ANY state that would make embalming mandatory. Some of us whom are Jewish may protest PM autopsy. It is a worse offence than anything Jack The Ripper did. It would make the world a better place if You could make efforts to change the law's in your area and state. You should stand for those whom cannot stand . I am sure, that would make your parents proud of you as I would be. I look forward to your reply.

enhanced human if a career in funeral service is something that you're interested in then work for it! Don't worry about what people say, not many people believed me when I said I wanted to be a funeral director :) talk to your advisor at school and see what classes you can take to prepare you for college and see if you can talk with a local funeral director about what their day to day life looks like!
