This is the second time President Hoover is mentioned in Home Alone. In Home Alone 2, Cedric tells Kevin that Herbert Hoover once stayed at the hotel.

Home Alone 3 is so much like its predecessors because it was originally meant to be another "Kevin McAllister" movie. But after making two identical movies Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci & Daniel Stern had enough, refusing to return. So the characters had to be recast & new villains added.

plus Macaulay was older by then and hadn't been in many hits since Home Alone 2. 3 was also thought originally to be a spin off/feature Fuller as the main kid and be about Frank and Leslie leaving him, but..

My only problem with Home Alone 3 is I think the writers went a little overboard with the traps on this one, in the first two films there are a decent number of traps, not too many and not too little whereas with Home Alone 3 the traps seem to take up half of the film, and some of them just aren't quite as funny. Nothing beats Marv's electrocution scene from Home Alone 2! The film is OK, just not as good as the first two for me!🎄🎄🎅🎅

Home Alone 2 copied Home Alone 1 a lot more than Home Alone 3 did. There were many callbacks and references though, in order to keep the same spirit as the first two. The first film was just unique and it's almost impossible to recreate something like it, without it directly being too similar to the original thing.

Great research! I do think some of these are stretching it, regardless home alone 3 regardless will always be my favourite home alone because of the humour, the characters, the acting, the plot and the comparative realism(e.g. he calls 911) and it’s less immature but thanks for telling me some of these things that the film took from the first two I had no idea lol. The first 2 are great though, so it makes sense to derive inspiration from them! Brilliant video!

The lawn mover to the head was originally intended for Marv in Home Alone 2. There are more call backs you could've added, but what you've got is fine. I think it would be something to visit the Pruitt house in Home Alone 3, but what Hughes should've done is kept the final script intact, but make good reference to the McCallisters so that it doesn't feel as far detached from the first two films.
