Music has no colors. There is a piece of every type of music we can all relate to...regardless of genre, country of origin or even language. Once you open your ears to the stories it's easy to realize we are all very similar. Tech has made it easier to connect to different generations and I'm glad we are here together. Alton is greatness! Keep it up, Jeannie. We are all distant neighbors.

When we was growing up in Kingston Jamaica we never called it rock steady or ska my friends, we called it as we knew it to be Reggae Music and thats the name it will always have n will always be, at ''Studio 1'' i never heard anyone or Alton called it rock steady or ska, it was originally Reggae Music, and will always be reggae music to us Jamaicans, ska and rock steady are totally different music. 1Love Kings and Queens.
@janetcousins46455 жыл бұрын
@@stacklargeempireent.320 You sound totally clueless. This is rock steady and so were most of Alton Ellis' songs. Reggae grew out of rock steady and rock steady grew out of ska.

The "flute" solo is actually much later "add-on" played on a synthesizer. However done with a good taste. The 1969 original is a couple of minutes shorter. This extended version with the flute-like synth solo was released on the 1995 CD version of the album. Just for your information, it doesn't diminish the greatness of the original a bit, in my opinion. Cheers.
@steveb51298 жыл бұрын
Yes Juha, you are correct. There is also a different cut with vocal by Alton & Hortense, wherein Alton's vocal is very slightly differently phrased, so I assume he sang it back with Hortense later. I also love the 12", but my favorite is the great Lennie Hibbert vibes cut. The synth here sounds more like whistling, rather than a flute per se. All best wishes to all the Helsinki massive /steve
