I was at this game. It was incredible...the Vikings were down 19-3 at halftime and I figured it would be another colossal disappointment but they came through!! To this day I cannot believe the Vikings punted on 4th down, down 22-13 with around 4:00 left. When we got home and watched the game we had taped I laughed when Leslie Visser asked Dennis Green about that call in the post game interview and he said he used effective clock management....guess he was right! Awesome experience to be there and it was wild to hear almost 78,000 screaming Giants fans go dead silent after Murray's FG at the end. Been a Viking fan for 46 years now and that game rates as my all-time favorite!! SKOL Vikings!!!

I always say this is one of the most important games in Vikings history. If they lose, Green is probably fired, and they probably don't draft Randy Moss.

did we win a superbowl? thats all that matters. no matter how cool 98 was.

AND?????? Did Moss deliver us a SUPER BOWL?????? Green should've been fired he always made the playoffs by the skin of his teeth and then ONE & DONE. Tony Dungy and Brian Billick both won super bowls because they didn't choke when everything was on the line.

Why are we treating a coward like Denny green like he won us a Super Bowl? His reputation here is known for taking a knee in the nfc championship and 41-0. Most unprepared coach ever

More importantly, the 10 person ownership group probably doesn't sell the franchise. In December '97 the group was still in discussions whether to put the team up for sale, losing another playoff game would have de-valued the net worth of the franchise. So the win over NY and being somewhat competitive vs SF in the divisional round made it possible for the group to sell and pull in a profit from the transaction once it had league approval.

Probably my all-time favorite Viking memory. I was in the NYC area visiting a friend and we were going to go see Titanic. It was 22 to 13 and I told her the game's over we can start driving but it kept listening to the game on the Giants radio. I get to hear the two touchdowns on the radio and the Vikings win. We go into the theater, I look at my friend and said at least the Vikings won so I'm happy. Almost every guy in the theater suddenly turns around and said WHAT?!? I explained the Vikings scored two touchdowns in the last 2 minutes of the game and since this was before internet on phones, literally every man in the theater runs out to go to the TV in the lobby. I think I was the only guy in the theater for the first half hour of the movie and certainly the only happy one. 😂

The only time I have seen the Vikings go 4 years in a Row with a Playoff win (1997-2000).

My Sister was getting Married on this Day. Her soon to be Husband, my Dad, My Brother and Myself watched the end of this game before going to the Church for the Wedding. We were all in the Wedding and 20 minutes late for picture taking. My Sister was rightfully pissed ( more because she missed the Game) that we were late. The Minister doing the Ceremony started off with saying ( Thank God that the Vikings Won) everyone cracked up, but truthfully the smiles in the pictures were much better!

Great story. I was in a Chicago hotel watching this alone, on the phone with my brother. We were arguing about that last punt the Vikings did. We still argue to this day whether that was the conventional move :)

They need to bring bigger pads back. More broken tackles, and less body/leg injuries. I remember in 2006 the were 24 running backs that ran for a 1000 yards because running backs could survive the season actually as their team’s bell cow. Now it’s a rarity to have a main guy as your back and for him to not get hurt.

The ghosts of the Dan Reeves’ era reared their ugly heads at the most inopportune time. The trademark of those teams were blown leads in the second half and this game was more of the same.

This video needed to show the punt decision by green. Given the Vikings defense , that was a ballsy move.

The Vikings defense shut down the Giants run game in the 2nd half. They were betting that Danny Kanell couldn't beat them with his arm.
