I think one of the factors that affect the mentality of “dressing up” a *certain* way is like the environment around you. As someone who’s in the middle of girly and edgy I can’t really achieve a good wardrobe as I have to rely on my parents when buying clothes. They’re quite judgmental and the fact that when other people give me clothes they literally look like they’re from justice or clothes that aren’t my style at all it’s so hard to say things like “oh I’m sorry I don’t wear that” or “oh sorry but I don’t really like that.”
@sta._rina3 жыл бұрын

I’m usually a person who looks for efficiency, comfort and style, and this is my personal advise: Create two Pinterest boards, in one you put everything you like, everything. Shoes, clothes, jewels, makeup styles. On the other board you’ll only add pattern items. An example: you noticed you had 10-20 pins with the same Dr. Martens Jadon Vintage. That means that subconsciously or not you’re attracted to that item, and is something you can re-use multiple times. In the beginning buy *core* pieces. Like a plain color shirt that you can overlay with multiple items, or a jacket that will look good independently of what you wear on the bottom, from then on slowly buy more items that fit your style. Try experimenting with DIY, and please avoid buying stuff you won’t need anymore after it’s done being a trend!
@anringo76823 жыл бұрын
Tip! You might like a trend and want to go for it but it might not suit you/you don't feel comfortable wearing them. I tried to go for the "egirl" style trend with fishnets and all and though everyone said I looked great I felt super uncomfortable so now my wardrobe is mostly just pieces I feel super comfortable wearing and its finally a wardrobe I love! But don't be afraid to experiment still :-)

Just something to remember, if someone does come up to you to talk smack about your outfit don't feel bad about it. Feel bad for them that their day, or maybe even their life is so sad that they felt the need to take time and effort out of their day to try and make you feel bad for *gAsP!* trying to dress the way you like.

I won't be leaving the house until like- November because lockdown but we're in Spring, going into Summer at the end of November, and I'll be able to show off my cool homemade bracelets without them being hidden and stuff. Plus, whenever I think about it, I wonder what others think when they see some random long hair blonde bitch with platform boots, a bunch of silver jewelry, laces tied in rainbow pentagrams lol and in their school uniform jus walking across the quad to their other very cool looking friends. Idk it makes me feel cool.

now i know fast fashion is to be avoided where possible, but SHEIN has been a game changer for me as a midsize person whose proportions don’t fit into a lot of mainstream fast fashion. SHEIN has exact cm/inch measurements in every article of clothing which can help you find pieces that are more likely to fit you before buying, and seeing pictures of people with a similar body type in the reviews can help you match expectations. the quality isn’t always stellar and it may not be ideal for lifelong staple pieces, but it’s good for trying out styles that are hard to otherwise find in stores. My one tip would be to avoid overconsumption - try one article of clothing from whatever style you want to try, then you can expand when you know you like it. good luck :))

Now I absolutely love shopping and styling clothes and one thing that I’ve definitely noticed is that even though you might think people are judging you, it’s almost always the opposite. I never used to get random compliments until I started dressing how I want, now I get them all the time. More attention means more positive attention as well.

this advice is literally so spot-on. I started making smarter decisions when buying clothes, making mood boards, and lists of essentials that I needed, and started building up my wardrobe over time. it took like half a year, but I'm way happier with my current style, than my old one. If you're really worried about what people are gonna say/think, the best advice I can give is to just say "f_ck everyone, and their opinions, I'm h0t, and I look good no matter what I wear." and remember, you can pull off any style, all you need is confidence.

For my fellow babes in school, please remember NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU ARE WEARING!! Everyone is just in school, because they have to be. No one notices what anyone is wearing, other than freshman’s. Only freshman’s really think this is middle school, where they think they are adults and are majority “pick me girls.” Teachers also don’t care, some don’t ever care if it breaks dress code. The teachers are just happy you even rolled out of bed at 6-7 a.m. and got to school: congrats if you dressed cute this early.

Another tip even tho there are 170000 in here, but I found this one helpful for me: make your own jewelry, buy a small kit or ask your parents to. I made these really cool earrings from a small kit, some charms and some beads! Another thing is try and style your now clothes so you don't waste alot of money from buying new fashionable clothes when you didn't try styling the new ones!

Another thing is that if you didnt like a item before hand and you like it when its trendy dont buy it bc as soon as it isnt trendy anymore you wont like it, i think its like scientifically proven or smth that the more u see something the more u like it

what a journey, thanks for guiding me about this one. now i feel confident of discovering more about my self ! your post echoes the transformative process of self-discovery, much like my life coach Lisa Haisha's teachings during her retreats in the Philippines. Both your style tips and Lisa's wisdom inspire my journey of self-expression and empowerment.

as a trans guy theres so much i want to wear but at the samw time i feel dysphoric about more feminine clothing, i find it so hard to balance my personal style with clothes thwt im comfortable with so i end up always wearing really boring and bland clothes (wide leg jeans, baggy graphic tees)
@krlstime3 жыл бұрын
until you feel comfortable, invest in accessories! they will make it less boring for you, like gloves, chain belts, rings, necklaces...

If your into j-fashion theres usually an androgynous/masculine styles that sometimes go along with their more femenine counterparts. Think visual-k, ouiji fashion, ect

My dad won’t let me get the clothes I want and said about a person who looked really pretty “Is that how you like to dress?” But I still really wanna dress like you, your so pretty! I remember showing my family your hair and it’s so pretty but they said it’s ugly. :(

Also it’s okay to not know your style for a while. I’ve went through cottage core, soft girl, street wear and more to realize my real style is grunge fairy core. But It’s okay to be all of them you don’t have to fit yourself in a box, just wear whatever you feel like wearing. Don’t think b/c you like grunge fairy core that means you ALWAYS have to wear that, just do you. Lastly, don’t be quick to hop on trends that’s why I did and most of my clothes I just don’t wear.

I already have an idea of what I want for my style, I realized it after I created an oc with the same style and then it clicked in my brain. I always had a passion for victorian fashion, at same time I loved eye-strain art and “weird” jewelry. So after I made my oc, I mixed those aspects in a way to keep a balance between then (I didn’t wanted to overstimulate someone - or myself). I just couldn’t really put the eyestrain colors on it :/ In the end I saved the complete style for me, and the oc only has a part of it, I’m very satisfied. Though I’m procrastinating on making the actual moodboard _._ Great video btw !! I really like your videos :]
