When I first saw this movie, I thought Rocket was voiced by Bruce Willis. Cooper totally sounded like a younger Bruce Willis from when he used to do voice acting movies, or from moonlighting. He sounded that way in the die hard movies. His Northern accent is thick when he does them. Bradley, totally fooled me, and did a fine job doing it. "So much power!" You are correct, the purple stone is called the Power stone, representing the sustaining and destructive nature of the Universe. The big dude that the Collector showed them wielding it was a Celestial known as Eson the Searcher. Abilities granted by possession of the stone include tremendous energy manipulation capabilities, able to project fiery purple energy beams and waves, strong enough to destroy an entire planet (as Eson did). It also enhances the wielder's strength and physical durability (which is how Ronan was able to withstand the shot from Rocket's Hadron Enforcer, a weapon that could normally destroy a small moon). Denarian Garthan Saal ( the guy leading the NovaCorps blockade) in the comics becomes the cosmic being known as SuperNova after the destruction of Xandar, the recipient of the entire NovaCorps' cosmic power.

I'm not super into the comics, but that's disappointing. That's one of the major criticisms I have of the MCU, as much as I love it they're really inconsistent with the power scale. Drax is infamous across the galaxy, yet we see him get his ass handed to him by Ronan? What makes him stronger than Drax without the power stone? And I love Drax, his character is brilliant, it would just be nice to see him fight competently enough to justify his notoriety as "the Destroyer".

So Cosmo the Space dog is MCU's homage to the first living creature launched into space by the USSR. Officially Cosmo is Security Chief of Knowhere in the MCU and a Guardians team member at various times. She appears in several MCU comic lines at various times. Yandu was also an original member of the first Guardians team, pre this time line. The "gimicky stuff" Quill has is standard Ravager armor. One of my favourite movie tropes are "unlikely heroes". You know - gangsters (for example) who during a crisis take action for the good side, even risking their own life. The most known example I assume is Han Solo, another good example is Noah, the gangsta kid in "Attack the Block" and, of course, pretty much every single character in Guardians of the Galaxy (except, perhaps, one or two of the cops). They're indeed, just as Rocket said, a bunch of losers. But together they become something great. Yah, it's a simplistic message, but one I happen to love when it's done well - and Guardians IS done well. Part II builds on this (no spoilers) and does some great character development with pretty much for all of them. Apart from that it's of course also simply huge fun like pt. I once more. :)

The show is about an Astronaut named John Crichton who gets lost in space after flying through a wormhole and ending up in a unknown part of the universe. He gets on a living biomechanioid ship called a leviathan, named Moya where he meets alien escape fugitives and falls in love with a alien woman who looks human and she is forced to defect from a authoritarian space military called Peacekeepers. They are on the run from an Insane Military Captain, Bialar Crais, who wants to arrest the fugitives, hold the Crichton’s love interest for treason and kill John for accidentally killing him brother after he exited the wormhole.

The space dog at the collector will probably be Laika, the first living creature that went to space. At least I hope so, as that would make a nice nod to 'he first cosmonaut and explorer of the Universe who deserved better end than she got.

Good reaction, I rly liked this movie. My favorites were Rocket, Quill and Nebula. I’m looking forward to the 3rd installment in 2023 and the Christmas special.

Guardians is hilarious, still remember how the entire cinema cracked up at the premiere. But after having seen it and Thor Ragnarok multiple times I feel the latter is the funnier movie. Mainly because it has slightly funnier side characters (Korg cracks me up every time 🙃)
