I feel that one of the most beautiful overlooked scenes in this show is when Jerry is talking to Kramer and gets a cup to fill it up while Elaine takes a carton of orange juice out of Jerry’s refrigerator. Elaine takes the cup from Jerry’s hand and fills it up with the orange juice to drink it. As the conversation between Kramer and Jerry continues Jerry takes the cup of orange juice out of Elaine’s hand and starts drinking out of it. Elaine then proceeds to drink straight out of the carton. As all this happens no one in the room ever addresses it and the conversation between Jerry and Kramer continued like nothing happened. That’s what I love about shows like this and the office. They never tried to put the jokes in your face, and there were always jokes that could go right past u, but if u catch it it’s fucking hilarious.

MrUnlimitedTorque the hell are you even here for then?? Pay attention to the writing, the acting... Yeah Jerry's not an actor, but they often played on that, and man the delivery of the lines and his demeanor are perfect. Not to mention JLD's fresh end exceptional acting! Dull and unfunny... @@simonetanzi5103 *Jerry Seinfeld* came up in a random compilation video I just watched, and Americans as usual in the comments were saying how great he is. I came here to see if *Seinfeld* was as shit as I remember it being, when it was played either in the early morning, late afternoon (between 5pm and 6pm), or around midnight on channels like *BBC Two* and *Channel 4.* Most of the other American sitcoms on British TV in the 80's, 90's and 00's, were broadcast around similar times as they never pulled in big audiences. People would be busy watching the news or cartoons on *BBC One* or *ITV* in the morning, the news or the Aussie soaps on *BBC One* or *ITV* in the late afternoon, or things like films on *BBC One* or *ITV* or American dramas on *Channel 5* around midnight. The majority of ones people actually watched were mainly broadcast on the children's programming blocks *CBBC* or *CITV* which are now children's TV channels, like *Kenan & Kel, Saved by the Bell, Blossom, Sister Sister* etc. After watching this video of the best bits *Seinfeld* like 99% of the USA's sitcoms is just as shit as I remember. The USA hasn't produced a single funny sitcom since the 90's (not that there were many funny American sitcoms in the first place), with classic shows like *Roseanne, Friends, Home Improvement, The Cosby Show,* and *The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.* Same goes for 99% of American stand-ups, and American comedy TV shows in general.

The greatest TV show of all time. It has no main story, so you don't have to follow anything. All the ideas are original and smartly designed. None of the characters are like each other in almost any aspect. It makes a perfect bond between everyday life routines and crazy unproportional events that might happen. It uses just the right amount of sarcasm at the right time. No romance and love scenes are included, which makes it invulnerable to becoming banal. Seinfeld reposes purely on jokes and funny moments, instead of improvising love junk to fill the footage up with. (watch Big Bang to get the idea) and etc

You’ve literally explained why it can’t be eligible for the best TV show of all time. It has no substance so there’s no plot, and it has no real characters so the levels of comedy achieved in The Office (UK and USA), Peep Show and Friends aren’t reached in Seinfeld. It’s a good sketch show, sure, but Morecambe and Wise, Monty Python and Enfield + Chums are all better sketch shows And to pre-empt anyone saying Seinfeld’s longevity and big fanbase shows that it’s good, just remember that Fast & Furious also has longevity and a huge fan base. Quantity doesn’t equal quality

i can think of 5 shows I find more appealing that came out since seinfeld: The Office, Community, the good place, BOJACK HORSEMAN, American Vandal. Seinfeld is not my favorite show because of these shows. American Vandal is the best example of satire, community makes fun of sitcoms in the best way, bojack is more of a depressing drama with comedic elements, the good place is witty and philosophical, and the office is just funny and cringy. 6:00 Jason Alexander said this scene had his favorite line in all of Seinfeld because... "Now of all the things George could have said... all the potential lies... you know, we're dealing with Larry David, so the things he could have come up with are innumerable, but what they wrote for me was: 'Was that wrong? Should I not have done that??' . . . I thought that was... again, you're always looking for 'what can I learn about the character?' and that [line], to me, told me so much about who this guy is, it was such a perfect... no lie was gonna get you out, so you go with 'I didn't know' . . . only George Costanza would think of that."

Honestly, I do like Friends a lot...but nothing comes close to Seinfeld. Friends gets bogged down with soap opera style story lines and romantic subplots. Friends speaks to you on a more emotional level that you can relate to in your relationships in real life, whereas Seinfeld requires you to have a sense of self awareness and the ability to laugh at yourself and others without being PC about it. Friends reaches out to mainstream audiences, but with Seinfeld, you either "get it" or you don't. For the people that "get it", the enjoyment level is far above anything Friends can ever give, and this is coming from a huge fan of Friends. Friends sets up punch lines during each scene to bounce off it later on, which makes it a shallow (though still very funny) experience. Seinfeld's humor comes from YOU, the viewer, which makes it all the more funny and personal. Seinfeld is the better written show hands down.

@@leeannalynn55 Yes but you're still talking about 1 country. Seinfeld may have been more popular in US but the show was not popular elsewhere. Friends was a little less popular in US but was a very popular show in countries all over the worldwide. Friends has worldwide popularity, Seinfeld has national popularity.

I kind of missed Seinfeld (born in the 90's, grew up on Friends and loved it) but looking back I can see how the quality of Seinfeld's humor is better than Friends'. Growing up I thought Seinfeld was a crappy old show with ugly people in it (Superficial much? Everyone in Friends is hot, something I now find weird). Now I just feel sorry for my younger self for missing out and like I need to go watch the show. Idk if other young millenials feel like they don't get older people's humor and I have a theory that it's because of Seinfeld, or the Seinfeld/Friends dichotomy. And then there are other shows like Chappelle's Show, Will & Grace, It's Always Sunny but I think Seinfeld had the most impact on a generation. Another thing: I can actually believe that the Seinfeld characters live in New York. The Friends characters look like they're from Colorado. Ok maybe not Colorado, but someplace that's definitely not New York.

Seinfeld is for intelligent people, Friends is for stupid simple mind/easy laugh morons that would never get to this show's level, as simple as that.

Ugly people? Elaine was hot, and most of Jerry's girlfriends were hot, and a lot of other women were too who appeared on the show. Go back and watch some episodes, you can on TBS, and see. I don't know what it was about women in the 90s, they just so sensual and they didn't wear that much makeup to make themselves look beautiful, it was natural.

How do you guys rate Jerry Seinfeld's acting? I just saw he was nominated for an Emmy a few times (along with the other cast members) for best leading actor and I was very surprised. He was fine but to me you could always tell he was the one who wasn't an actual actor but it never bothered me partly because I assumed/knew he wasn't cast for his acting. He was the writer of the show that was named after him. But Jerry won more acting awards than Jason Alexander for Seinfeld (who was brilliant as George imo). Weird. Huge huge fan of the show though!

Seinfeld is something you start watching, think "It's not that funny but I have to watch the next one". Before you know it, you're watching the third series nearly choking on your food watching it because it's that funny. For Example "S03E05 - The Pen" when he goes to his parents in Florida. This comedy is just a masterclass.

What I found intresting is the last scene at the diner the Mustard bottles were bigger than than Ketchup bottles. Is that a backround joke they did? Because Mustard is used 50 percent less ratio to Ketchup in places of food, I found the sizes of the bottle to be intentional.
