London cab drivers were required to have "the knowledge", had to know the city like the back of their hands. Sounds like Steve has it too, probably knows which stall in the restroom isn't being used.. I realize it's easy, like memorizing the New York phone directory is easy.

He's actually still working at JFK, just as the ramp manager for the airport instead of a controller for ATC. He makes his first appearance at 2:11 in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZofLnYWHmK2MbbM Seems to be doing well for himself, and most importantly, still gets to yell at Delta Tugs!

Steve Abraham's. Just discovered this amazing traffic. Uncle was AA pilot, now know what he was- genius, to follow all this. My dad was GA pilot, had Bonanza. Company plane, died in crash in Anderson Indiana. Sharp approach over gas station. Grass strip no ground control. Winds. By the way any one can tell me 1%?? Rich people alert says it all, doesn't it?

@wloffblizz
@wloffblizz 3 жыл бұрын
JFK is an old airport which was never really designed for such a crazy amount of traffic. The taxiways there do one giant loop and taxiing planes sometimes need to circle around the entire thing, so there's really no way to have more than one ground controller -- you need to have one person controlling everything because you never know when you might have to stop someone or turn them around because of something that happens on the completely opposite side of the airport. On places like Atlanta, it's much more sensical to have multiple ground controllers: flightaware.com/resources/airport/ATL/APD/AIRPORT+DIAGRAM/pdf If you look at the taxiway chart, you notice there are two completely separate runway complexes on the north and south side of the terminals; so you can easily have one ground controller controlling traffic on the north side and another on the south side (and they actually have a third one for the one runway WAY south); and that's perfectly fine, because there's no way for the planes different controllers are controlling to ever hit each other.
