It was good to hear Ken Doherty and John Parrott saying that Peter Ebdon was talking far too long to take each shot. Getting the white cleaned too frequently. It's usually Ronnie who gets criticism, but he was right in that frame. Ronnie is the greatest snooker player ever. Peter Ebdon won 1 world championship. They are in different leagues. I wouldn't watch Ebdon play if you payed me.

Peter is actually a really nice bloke but he had to retire due to issues with his lower spine. Most people only remember him for this famous break of 12 which took him 5 minutes 9 seconds. It was against Ronnie O Sullivan in the 2005 world championship. He is actually a former world champion and i hope he can put that break of 12 out of his mind and move on with his life. That break of 12 will haunt him for the rest of his life - It was that break of 12 that gave him a painful spinal injury as he feathered the cue ball 10 - 12 times on each shot before striking it thereby spending huge amounts of time with his head down on the each shot before striking it. Remember that he was forced to retire due to issues with his lower spine. That 12 break is what caused a serious SPINAL BREAK in his lower body. It was very beautiful to watch the injury happen to him in realtime. Thanks for all the really fast, exciting snooker Peter and i wish you the best of luck mate. AND REMEMBER PEOPLE - ALWAYS REMEMBER HIS FAST AND TOTALLY AMAZING BREAK OF 12!

I'd put Peter Ebdon in my top 10 players. He was brilliant under pressure. Has an excellent record against John Higgins. Been in 3 WC finals. Has won the world and UK championship. He's beaten Ronnie in big games several times. Had it not been for Stephen Hendry's and Ronnie's dominance and a higher standard at the top those days. Ebdon would of won a lot more.

I don't know what the World Snooker rulebook stated circa 2005, but in the current revision deliberate slow play and time wasting is against the rules and is punishable by a warning; then forfeit of the frame if it continues; then forfeit of the match if it continues further. Previously it was definied as 'ungentlemanly conduct' and carried the same punishments.

Remember watching this 2005 final. I was absolutely lost for words 😮 how Peter abdon got himself into the final was beyond belief. I'm really not a Ronnie O'Sullivan fan but I could understand the frustration Ronnie had with Peter abdon. It reminded me of watching the turtle Terry Griffith . It must have been the worst final I've ever seen, if it wasn't for Ronnie's humour & antics which I could honestly understand why during the match with ebdon, I wouldn't have watched it at all ! Peter abdon should have been given a warning. I think abdon won only because he sent Ronnie & probably the entire country to sleep 💤😴 love my snooker but never would I watch Peter abdon on TV and certainly wouldn't pay to watch my favourite player if he was playing him in a match ! 2005 was certainly a very memorable final & certainly one final Ronnie will never forget nor would he ever want repeated 😂😂

Yes, good to see kind comments about Peter E in this match. Even if he does know what ball he's going to hit he's right to spend time lifting his focus for it, - and as to deliberately keeping Ronnie O waiting, we can't possibly know if that's even slightly true. The reason people compete with him is that they know he could possibly beat them, so good to see Ronnie O being Mr Cool. And the terrible nerves which Peter E probably goes through is his own business! John Windsor-Cunningham

In recent years Mark Selby took over 6 minutes over one shot! So amazingly Peter Ebdon's 12 break in 5 minutes actually seems fairly respectable. And how about Cliff Thorburn v Eddie Charlton in 1989 world championship? It nearly finished at 3 am.

Elaborate please? Particularly tough snooker for Selby? Cliff v Eddie? Tight contest that went down to the wire? I know both Cliff and Eddie were both highly rated in their day. I imagine that there'd been some sort of disagreement behind the scenes between the two of them that Peter was evidently upset because of. Playing *deliberately* slowly, may have been a way of "punishing" Ronnie for whatever Peter may have perceived to have been wronged. Similar to the silent treatment, Peter then doesn't give Ronnie the satisfaction of seeing his "vulnerability" after playing in such an audacious manner. Whether or not it was justified is another matter. That Peter is being single handedly blamed without [really] knowing the context behind this, is - I think - quite unfair.

The referee was the worst I've ever seen! I mean, come on, he should've have warned that bald guy for unsportsmanlike conduct.
