It’s insane how much I obsess over your Tetris pattern over an entire video. Every time I want to rearrange it to match some ideal that only exists in my head. You know, like how the themes of the show portray personal control and authority. Yeah, that’s it. It’s totally relevant and not driven by neurodivergent thought processes or abnormal obsessions.

A fact about this episode: the "they don't make them like Roy anymore" sign actually turned a load of Chelsea fans against the series - the original sign was paid for by fans at the Chelsea Supporters Trust and read "they don't make them like Ray anymore." It was a tribute to Ray Wilkins, a Chelsea legend who died of cardiac arrest in 2018. Someone at AppleTV decided to edit the sign, leading to Chelseas owner having to apologise to the fans and the Supporters Trust.

Your opening comments reminded me of a quote I once heard. At the end of Season 2, Ted has the qualities of a hero, while Nate and Rupert are villains. Every superhero story has heroes and villains - who both were damaged in some way from past experiences. A villain wants the world to feel the pain they feel, while a hero channels their pain in a way to prevent anyone to feel the pain they have felt. This show captures that sentiment.
@curtisbme
@curtisbme Жыл бұрын
Rupert isn't that kind of Villian. He is like the Emperor or any of our current real life right wing pathological narcissists, they are simply evil. They don't have some tragic backstory, just villains to their core.
@emilymcplugger
@emilymcplugger Жыл бұрын
@Coach John I don’t think Nate is a villain. Nate (brilliantly shown through these reactions to season 2) kept getting shit on by everyone. Not maliciously, but it was there. Nate is someone who knew Richmond, who knew football inside and out. He knew how to look after the pitch, how to make sure the players had no distractions (when kitboy) how to load the coach, how to motivate the team, tactics and…well everything. When he was Kitboy, Ted valued this, but when coach he didn’t because all that knowledge was just part of the job…so Nate’s validation was gone. Add to that Higgins sharing an office, which did bug him, as he saw it as a comedown, Roy being brought in as he felt like he was being replaced, Ted and Beard laughing when he volunteered to talk to Isaac, the whole thing with “Ted’s suit” (that pissed me off watching it back) his own reaction to making a mistake “Wonder kid”, kissing Keeley, hating himself for it and Roy laughing it off all broke down his confidence. When Rupert spoke to him it rebuilt what had been broken, and that’s why we are where we are. Now he’s at the top in Ted’s spot he’ll have the same view of things, and understand that role more, hopefully all the things that shattered him he can also repair. What do you think?

So Zava is based on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he created some weird caroonesque persona around his person and the scary thing is that he backed it up, with the most absurd goals and quality. To give a few examples, when he signed for LA Galaxy, he took out a one page ad in the LA Times that said: You're Welcome. Lebron sent him a shirt to welcome him to LA and Zlatan signed it and sent it back. I used to be friends with a teammate of him when he played at Ajax very early in his career, and I went to dinner with him one time and back then he was such a quiet guy I didn't even remember that happened until my girlfriend showed me a picture of us at the table. He certainly isn't quiet anymore lol.

Both Henry and Phoebe are being played by the same actors in season 3 as they were in previous seasons and a lot of viewers have been uncertain because they forget how fast kids change and that almost two off-screen years passed between the last time we saw Henry and now. These first two episodes seem to be setting up a broader scope with Keely being outside the club, Nate being in an opposing camp, and a new face coming into the club. I also think this episode is establishing Nate's baseline - the bottoming out of her emotional stability and hopefully, we see a gradual improvement and move to redemption, but with Rupert in his face, it will be a big challenge, for sure. James Lance as Trent Crimm is absolutely a delightful mirror for the folks at Richmond.

I personally don't care for the acting of the kid who plays Henry. I won't hate on him, he's just a kid, but it's very unnatural sounding. The kid who plays Phoebe, in contrast, is great. Perfect line delivery there.
@eth2636
@eth2636 Жыл бұрын
@@Wiley_Coyote The actress who plays Phoebe, Elodie Blomfield, is brilliant. I remember her first scene when she was missing one of her front teeth and kicking Ted right on his nose lol to the Christmas episode where Phoebe gets picked on because of her halitosis. Gus Turner plays Henry and he was actually born in London UK. He picked up his American East Coast accent whilst growing up in New York. His American accent does stand out but I BELIEVE he can also speak in an English accent. So I do get what you mean about it sounding unnatural.

6 minutes ago! On a Sunday! We're spoiled. :) I have *so many thoughts* about this show that I haven't taken the time to actually type out beyond my silly comments about being online too much (lol), but suffice to say it's firmly among my all-time favorite shows alongside the big epics like Lost, Breaking Bad, Thrones, et al. You really liked Lost? I tried so hard to get into it and the first couple of seasons were generally intriguing but, to me, it just seemed like they kept introducing wacky mystery after wacky mystery with no forethought into how they were going to land them all. Just my opinion though. Maybe I'm not smart enough to actually see what they were doing?

It's one of the biggest shows on television in the past 20 years, easily. :) As for mysteries after mysteries, well, it's hard to complain about them if you stop watching the show before things get explained (which is most of them!). It's far from perfect, but still one of the best shows and worthy of the clout it carries. I'd encourage you to stick it out and finish!

With Ted Lasso, Coach Beard on the sidelines as the coaches. Roy is a player still.

The references to Nate and his journey to the "dark side" is not without merit. If you look at his interactions with Rubert you may notice some other little aspects that Jason put in intentionally. I can't (and won't) be more specific than that because I don't want to ruin anything. FYI - and happy viewing.

Everytime Nate is on screen and the camera zooms in, I can just hear the Kill Bill music playing. Good luck without punching your computer screen this season 😬

It’s interesting the parallels between Edwin Ekufu and Rupert. They both treat people like garbage but Rupert continues with the charm even when he doesn’t get what he wants.

Let me be clear, what Nate was doing with "dumb-dumb line" was not okay. But I've heard stories from players about coaches being really hard on them, and it's usually the best players or the players with the most potential that coaches will be the hardest on in order to get the most out of the player. I remember once hearing that a coach was giving a player such a hard time, that the player had to literally be restrained by his teammates from trying to physically fight the coach. And this was a college team, not a professional one. The last year of that player's college career, he was the starting Point Guard (the player that runs the offense in basketball, like a QB in American football) for the same coach, in the season that ended with the most wins in a season in the history of the team, and a national championship.

Why’s Will in the boot room? Because that’s where he works; why are they having dramatic discussions in his workspace? (But it’s pretty funny that he’s there)
