I read the moment with Din saying "this is the way" differently from you. To me it felt like Din was honoring Bo's dad, recognizing him as true Mandalorian. And I think Bo was surprised and taken back that a child of the watch was honoring her dad. Maybe a start of a deeper connection between the two of them.

Another awesome reaction, Thumbs up given. One correction: A lot of people got this wrong but Favreau corrected himself in a second interview. When he mentioned "It has been two years" since Grogu was back with Din, he meant it had been two years for us the viewers, away from the show, NOT that Grogu spent two years with Luke. According to Favreau Grogu only trained with Luke for a very short time before choosing to go back to the "Daddy you want to cuddle".😁 (He was kinda vague and wouldn't pin down an exact amount of time though)

I read Bo's expression after Din's, "this is the way," about her dad's death, as being touched that he was honoring her father according to his religious practice. Similarly, I think that as he was saying the creed before the Mythosaur got him, she appeared moved by his belief, though she doesn't share it. I'm liking this direction in her, if in fact I'm reading her right.

This has HEAVY Godzilla vibes (giant monster long thought to be only a myth awakened via a massive planet-changing event) and I'm all for it. This mythosaur may be the last of its kind that was living deep within the depths of Mandalore, but since the Night of a Thousand Tears mass-bombing from the Empire against Mandalore, it may have "awakened" and has made its way closer to the surface.

It doesn't make much sense that this was Bo-Katan's first trip to Mandalore recently. She was the one that was so heavily insisting that it was livable and she was staying in a castle on a moon in the same system, right near there. Why would she, as passionate as she was about it, not have done exactly what Din did and go test the air? Of course she did. The question is why didn't she tell anyone?

I've seen other comments about Din losing the dark saber, and Bo-Katan picking it up, and defeating the "robot bug" that technically defeated Din and won the sword. Yes it a technicality, but if I remember what Moff Gideon said, it's that the dark saber doesn't have power, the story does... by that logic, wouldn't the story of her rescuing Din by defeating the Robot bug have some power? Or would it have to be some kind of super-epic battle that lasts days to have the same effect? BTW, @Angela, I started re-watching the expanse through your reaction videos and I was very impressed with some of your story and character insights that I've never thought of while I was watching for the first time, I feel like I'm getting even more out of the series with your reaction videos. Thank you!

Boy, I must be dense, I really didn't pick up on all the Mythosaur name drops the whole episode...Maybe just cause I assumed they were a long extinct species, so I never really expected we were going to actually see one. I donno though if Bo was so much annoyed by what Din said, as much as slightly taken aback. I'd like to think she recognizes Din is giving respect, in spite of her cynicism. It might also explain why she was so quick to dive after him when he fell. It seems like there might be a mutual respect finally starting to build between the two of them.

Close. The Armorer did not tell Din to go to the mines. She said redemption was impossible because the planet had been bombed and poisoned. Din brought evidence it was possible to reach the surface of Mandalore. He wanted to know if he did and got down to the waters beneath the mines, would he be redeemed? No point going if the Creed no longer allowed redemption but that's different than saying redemption is not allowed by Creed merely because you can't physically reach the place of redemption. She said redemption was possible if he could physically reach the waters beneath the mines. He went to Navarro to get a droid to scout out Mandalore to see if it was safe for him to reach the waters on Mandalore and the one droid he trusted was IG. But he wasn't able to get IG fixed. So then he went to Bo Katan who had been planning on retaking Mandalore but when her forces lost faith in her, she no longer planned to retake Mandalore. So Din left to find another way to get to Mandalore. His actions make sense if we realize his one goal is redemption.

A few things to know or that I am guessing at. First, for Bo-Katan, it was more her worrying that the Dark Saber had gone missing than Mando. Second, that move she made to retrieve the saber during the droid fight was the same one that Sabine Wren made during the sparing with Kanan in the Rebels series. Last, Mando was looking for both a droid he could trust AND one that could be a companion to help fight or watch Grogu if needed. This part I am guessing at, (WHOOSHING SOUND) The more you know! 😈

I think the first episode had to do a lot of recap for what happened during The Book of Boba Fett, since not everyone who watches The Mandalorian would have also watched the other show and more casual viewers would be really confused that Grogu was back with Din and also that Din had been excommunicated from his cult. So a lot of the 'we already know this' or 'why is he going back here' issues are because season 2.5 of The Mandalorian happened on a different show.

Yes and no. Being able to connect with the force can help, but with enough melee training a non-force user can wield a lightsaber. FYI, a mythosaure is a dragon-like creature that is the size of a small village. They went instinct like thousands of years ago (like 3000 or so) when the mandalorians killed them all. I find it really neat that we'll be able to see one, and live action at that, but talking lorewise, it's pretty unlikely than one would've still be alive after all these years. So.....Mando lost in "combat" to the creepy Cyborg Eyeball thing and had the Dark Saber taken from him (technically). Bo-Katan then bested the creepy Cyborg Eyeball and then took the Dark Saber and killed the Creepy Eyeball thing. Does she get to claim the Dark Saber now?

Pretty sure that weird interaction between Mando and the Armorer was just to catch up everyone who had given up on and/or was never interested in the BoB show. Which was probably a whole lot of folks. Kind of wish I was one of them… :/ Anyway, yeah, first episode was be-bopping all over the place, felt very disjointed…plus, 20ish episodes in and NOW Mando suddenly can’t hit a shot when zombie droid is after the kiddo? 🤔 Anyway, episode 2 definitely got things more on track. Kinda tired of helpless Mando though….and Bo Katan’s constant pissing in his cheerios about his taking being Mandalorian seriously…. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Does that droid point out your failings???? No... but one little misstep on his part and your "Bad Motivator" shaming him to all your viewers across the galaxy....and I thought droid Shaming was dead.

I guess Mando's first stop was the Armorer because he wanted to ask first if he'll actually be accepted back if he did find a way to bathe in the mines of Mandalore. And when she (in my point of view, somewhat grudgingly) said ok fine, this is the way, then he set out to actually do so. (Prior to this, in the 2 years in between seasons, I suppose he might have thought there was no chance for redemption, until perhaps he met the Jawas who had the cystallized specimen. Maybe that was recent. And while, as you said, it would have been nice to see that, maybe it's just an uneventful thing that's fine to just refer to and not show. 🤪) So anyway, next stop since it is decided that he will try to get back to Mandalore was to enlist the help of the only droid he would trust... Nevarro it is. But that didn't work out so he has to get parts first. And where would you find hard to find parts? The Jawas of Tatooine, of course. And that's the only part that's a little weird to me. Why go to Bo-Katan first before Tatooine? Why not Tatooine first? Then back to Nevarro, assuming he gets the parts for the Anzellans, then to Bo-Katan with the repaired IG-11. Then on to Mandalore. Maybe it's a location thing? Idk. 🤪 Is Kalevala (sp?) on the way from Nevarro to Tatooine? Or maybe Din just thought to go by Bo-Katan first out of courtesy? I mean, I expect his plan was to join her forces, and ask them to go with him to Mandalore, perhaps volunteering to go first to check the atmosphere, but maybe he didn't want to go all alone (by all alone, I mean just him and Grogu and IG-11). Maybe his plan was to go with a small group including Bo-Katan, and perhaps those other two Mandos he met with her. So anyway, maybe he thought it best to go by her first before getting parts for IG, so that they'd have time to prepare themselves for the task. That might be better than showing up there, saying he wants to join them, then saying ok let's go right now, I have everything ready. 😆 Ok. I rambled. 🤪 Sorry. 😅 Just my ideas on your thoughts about why he went all over the place first. 😁 And as luck would have it, he had a run in with pirates along the way. 🤭

I feel like they are rushing this season so much. I assumed it would be 3, 4, even 5 episodes before we got to Mandalore. Or at least a couple episodes exploring it. I dislike him going from "It HAS to be IG 11" to "Sure Ill take this shoddy crap astromech!" in 30 seconds flat. It makes pretty much the entire first episode pointless. This entire episode was back and forth using the same shots over and over and over again. We literally see the same fight sequences two or three times and the journey through the of the cave/ruined city/sewer etc 3 or 4 times. It is an unpopular opinion I know, but I wish Grogu had stayed with Luke for this season or at least part of the season. I think they use him too much for comic relief in moments that should be more grounded. I'd rather Mando be exploring with Bo or Boba right now. Also...What exactly pulled Mando under? He stayed ahead of her rocket pack and was somehow unconscious in the water?

I think Bo-Katan follows the way; she just doesn't observe the tenets of Din's sect. I also think that ... creature was alive, at least the center bit. The really big droid reminded me of the mechs we saw near the end of Book of Boba Fett. Perhaps Bo-Katan felt the Dark Saber abandoned her when she saw that Din possessing it, so her depression wasn't just funk, but that she lost belief in herself and her cause. ... I wonder if the writers are going to follow the Deathly Hallows logic: Draco disarmed (defeated) Dumbledore, so the Elder Wand changed its allegiance to Draco, but then Harry disarmed/defeated Draco, which made _him_ the master of the Elder Wand. Din defeated the Moff, but Bo-Katan rescued Din by killing the creature that captured/defeated him (which meant the Saber belonged to the creature). By the transitive property, Bo-Katan now is the rightful owner. As I've observed elsewhere, Katee is remarkable feminine in how she moves in that armor. Her kinesthetics are quite different from Dins'.

Not all astromechs are nervous ninnies; however, it could also be that R2-D2 and Chopper (from Rebels) are the exceptions, considering that both are also mass murderers.

A few things I have noticed from this episode. I think the Mythosaur is a vegetarian-why else would it have not immediately eaten Bo and Din? Also, I think Grogu is seeing a little something happening between them-"What are you looking at?" is a possible clue! And having worn my Mando helmet, I will surmise that her hair is perfect because of complex electronics, fans, and perhaps magnetic metal hair. 'cause when I remove my helmet my hair is a disaster! My fave moment is your reaction the the creature leaping out of the dirt to grab Mando! And how cool is it that not only do we look upon Din and Gogu as father and son, but everyone they know in their universe calls them dad and his kid. That is adorable! And I think the droid creature was taking blood so it could survive on something other than the Morlock-y things.

The writing on this show is always pretty weak. But it is still a fun show. But after Andor and the Last Of Us, we know these shows can be so much more (complex, well-written and longer). The first episode was fine to see the gang back. But this episode is so much better. There is suspense, action, Bo-Katan using the darksaber, and we got a peek at a mythosaur! Overall, this is a more satisfying episode. As some has said, episode 1 and 2 should have premiered together. By the way, Baby Yoda did learn something from Luke - he is not that tired as much now after using the force. So, the "2 years" wasn't a waste.

While the first episode really made me miss Andor, this episode was really entertaining for me, but the stuff they pull with the fetchquests is really tenuous at best. So he needs the part and goes to, where else, but Tatooine, to meet up with Amy and she tells him she doesn't have anything like that but take this Astromech droid, and he does without much of a fight... The basic science kinda hurt my brain in that the air on the surface was all right but still could have been wayyyy toxic in the mines. They really need a tricorder. :) That being said, the best thing from this episode was seeing Mandalore and that robot creature thing. I was surprised as well by it. I wouldn't mind hearing how that thing came about. Very cool design and having the head detach (like The Thing) to go into the spider thing was cool. But was it just hiding underground for a human, or maybe it was for those Morlock creatures, which probably was more likely. And no talk about he Dark Saber? Din was beat by that thing and had the Darksaber, then she took it and used it to kill the dude that defeated Din, so doesn't she get the Darksaber now? They needed to explain that here. "Watch that first step, it's a doozy!" So, he just slipped and fell or was he pulled under and Bo seeing the creature from the folklore was cool. Could open her mind a bit. I wish they would build more articulation into Baby Yoda. like so he can squat, bend and sit more naturally. He had a fun little adventure, but it made it really obvious why they needed the astromech... To me the volume is really needed for these shows to maintain a budget. Space hopping to different worlds is expensive if you have to build everything, so I get it. I thought it looked pretty good here.

Bit of a wasted opportunity on Kryze's part. Had she taken out the enemy that had disarmed Djarin, without the use of the dark saber, she could technically then have claimed ownership of it. Also, I don't think he finished reciting the creed, so he can't officially be a Mandalorian again... yet. They're going to have to deal with the Mythosaur one way or another.

I agree that he was getting the armors blessing ... also though ... some scenes are obviously for the casual fans that won't watch the other content ... so that was for the peeps that didn't watch the Boba Fett series ...

IMO I think Bo will be the one who will ride the Mythosaur. If Dave and Jon can have their way we will see a Bo Katan off shout. I love how Dave, Jon and George know how to create strong female characters with out using the Mary Sue route like KK/Disney does.
