Very informative videos. I am 63 and just started trapping here in Alaska. I got my first Martin yesterday. I now feel that I can properly skin and dry my pelts without ruining them. Keep up the good work.

Jim seems like a great guy that takes pride in what he does. Good luck at the auction william.

Jim has the mixture down to a science. Proportions, temp, moisture, timing & so on. Great when it works but you wouldn't want to damage any pelts. Pretty cool to have one all the same, all the best ..William

Yes this is great for me because I get to spend more time on the trapline & sometimes I get back in the evening & might get a phone call & could be gone for a few days so makes things more manageable, my line would be much shorter if not for this setup ..!!

That's some beautiful fur. You sure caught alot of them!! Even though our raccoon and Coyote get thick fur here in Kentucky, we don't get but a few dollars per pelt- Last year was $3 for Raccoon, and around $5 for Coyote but this year there's no market for southern fur. I still like to trap them though for predator control to help out the game animals I hunt. Great job trapping my friend!

Thank's, any deductions I get all come from FHA. Lucky to have Jim put away my fur, he's pretty much a pro at this ..!!

Thank's, After drumming the pelts are packed up & shipped by truck to North Bay, after the pelts are received at the depot there is no shipping charges from the depot to North Bay as far as I know. Yes thanks, looking foreward to the auction ..!!

You welcome, I believe Jim use to dry his foxes that way, fur side out with tubes of warm air blowed inside the pelt, probably it has to do with numbers. In the vid new marten boxes I give the dimentions of the pieces & I used 18 gague, 1 1/4 staples to fasten together, that staple gun is great for this. Thank you for the feedback,appreciate it & i'm sure Jim does to ..!!

You can send your fur to the auction house not drummed, it does not have to be drummed to ship, they get a lot of fur that way ..!!

I live in southern ontario how would i keep the fur without drumming it
@Biglandtrapper10 жыл бұрын
If I was going to keep fur for display for a lengthy period of time I would get it tanned...For drumming I heard tell of people using a old cloths dryer & sawdust, can't see why it would not be somewhat effective ..!!!
@Mike.Alabama6 жыл бұрын
Are the furs you are drumming already tanned?
@Biglandtrapper6 жыл бұрын
No they go to the auction like this, its up to the buyer if he wants to tan them or not....
