So, at what point after the apocalypse did someone say, 'We're gonna need a crew that can pluck other people from moving vehicles.'

@dollahbill5104 ай бұрын
I've seen Fury Road more than a handful of times. Honestly one of my favorite modern-dystopian movies. I think one of my favorite things "Furiousa" does is provide more exposition on The Citadel, The Bullet Farm, and Gas-Town. We hear about the Bullet Farm and Gas-Town in Fury Road, but actually get to see them in Furiousa. I also like how the film directly leads into Furiousa rescuing the women of Fury Road at the end of Furiosa. Something about when movies do that is extremely reminiscent of playing a video game sequel, and seeing parts of the original game in the sequel. Outside of that, I watched the movie from home, and fell asleep numerous times throughout the movie, or was just generally uninterested, to the point I'd check my phone numerous times throughout watching. I could watch old movies all day and all night, I'm particularly fond of movies that I've already seen. I could easily watch movies, knowing what happens, when it happens, how it happens, etc and stay interested, so long as it's a good watch. So, for me to be that uninterested with the world telling of Furiosa...well... it kind of made me disappointed. I can't put my finger on my disappointment with the film either. I don't have a problem with female-lead performances. Most series' and movies coming showcasing this "strong female lead" stuff taking Hollywood by storm, are doing it all wrong. They diminish the entire franchise, in order to bolster up an average female character, at the cost of the entire series. Furiosa did the opposite, in that they have this bad-ass world, and the female character grows to the world, if that makes sense. Maybe it's just that my expectations were too high? I think what the series needed was a sequel - not a prequel. Anywho, regardless - It's sad to see that this film flopped as hard as it did. It more than likely means we'll never see a return to this iteration of the Mad-Max world.

Kinda felt the same after watching it. I like it but didn't love it like Fury Road. It hard to point out way? I kinda felt like the other characters were more interesting then Furiosa. I loved the middle action scene with the flying and chase. That my favorite action scene of the movie.

I do feel like George Miller is one of those directors who often gets forgotten in the list of master Directors we commonly associate their great movies with. You have Scorsese, Spielberg, Lucas, Coppola, Kubrick, Scott but so rarely does George Miller get mentioned. I sort of put George Miller in the same category as a James Cameron simply because he doesn’t make a movie very often but when he does, it’s like holy sh*t! This is on another level! Miller is pushing 80 years old and is making other action directers look like kids playing with sticks in the neighbors backyard. You'll rarely hear action/sci-fi directors put on "greatest of all time", sometimes even Animation directors get more prestige. Which is funny because the core of cinema ia the ability to tell a story in moving images, even iver dialogue or any other words. The one advantage of cinema is telling a story in moving pictures, while books and other mediums focus on words. But somehow, cinemaphiles have forgotten that and the many of the public give more credit to directors that give dramatic stories, even if their actual images on camera are bad stories scene after scene.

Two things I've noticed in Furiosa. #1 After the Thunderbike was introduced in chapter 1, its engine sound/beat has been playing the whole film. Volume starts low then goes louder depending on how intense the scene is going to be. It even connects to the Fury Road theme. #2 The CGI feels like it's intended to look retroish. I find it distracting at first but it grows on you.

Visible or invisible CG - I don't blame George Miller one bit for using it. The scale of this film is huge and Miller is almost 80 years old. Last thing we want is him getting a heart attack because a practical stunt went wrong. It's a miracle as is that nobody died making this.
@heyheyhey333516 ай бұрын
For sure. I'm sure they would have gone the Fury Road route if it was feasible.
@shefalichow79176 ай бұрын
This is a bs mentality. People shouldn't compromise on quality out of fear of possibilities. Otherwise, we wouldn't have gotten some of the greatest movies of all time. These people know what job they're taking; they know the risks; we honor them in case anything bad happens, because of that risk. If you're afraid of him being too old, maybe you should instead advocate that he doesn't produce this type of movie at all, since the downgrades only serve to stain his legacy.
@Grommo6 ай бұрын
The only reason there was any significant cgi in this was to do background replacement of vegetation due to the constant rain over months of location shooting and maintain continuity on the war rig .... ie practical explosions on the war rig chrome look required ages to clean and reset between takes, so separately shot elements were more time efficient . George was very worried about the danger of the flying sequences and rightly so. The turbulence from a truck and parafoils and hangliders in close proximity is not a good mix. But the shots of the mortifliers taking off skiing behind motorbikes and flying up and over the top of the speeding war rig were NOT bluescreen but filmed practically. from ingenious practical rigs. If only people realised that the stunts they assume are cgi were mostly practical.
@Grommo6 ай бұрын
@@heyheyhey33351 They did go the fury road route. There was 9+months of location shooting on Furiosa doing real practical stunts with real stunt vehicles, . So outdoor location tests and filming footage started in january and went all the way to November at Kurnel. There were more vehicles built for the film than they had time to film or feature with trackwheeled bikes, a ww2 tank, converted snowmobiles , a monster mercury cougar v8 interceptor, Hugh Keas-Byrnes own converted 4x4 barely getting flashes of screentime. That will have to wait for the freezeframe when it eventually streams or releases on blueray

I just saw a TV ad saying this movie is the "origin of the Mad Max saga." What? Pretty sure the origin was in the first film from 1979. I love the character of Furiosa but now Max is getting sidelined in his own series? Miller says this is the direction he wants to go in with less Max and more other characters. Reminds of Ridley Scott saying his ideal future for the Alien series would be about the androids not the titular aliens. Anyway, I know Miller has quite a story in mind so I look forward to what he has for us.
