I just wish they had gotten to make this movie pre-covid. To be clear, I actually love the film and I like it more than Fury Road for several reasons. However, the CGI is pretty bad at times and the citadel scenes were unfortunate looking. Again, the writing, direction, action, everything I LOVED, but the scene with Furiosa hooking the chain around the digger truck would’ve been amazing if they had better CGI artists.

I really like that even though Jack and Furiosa only had a limited time on screen, their relationship felt very heartfelt. When he passed away via Dementus, It was gut wrenching. Even then, I could not be mad at Dementus, he was too good of a character, a diabolical lad

Very disappointing film. And fury rd is my favourite film of all time. The characters, effects are great. The story falls very short and it's all over the place in a period of 15 yrs without explanation. Your action falls flat when you don't have direction. Fury rd had direction. This doesn't

@@MaximusR93 as much as I like Dementus as a fictional character he got exactly what he deserved and even wanted "The question is, do you have it in you to make it epic" and then Furoisa goes ands shows exactly how to defeat Imortan Joe and his gang. The box office is fickle and the quality of a film has absolutely no bearing on whether or not it will make money. The only truth is that Furiosa is a damn good movie and a worthy addition to the Mad Max franchise.
@redadamearth
@redadamearth 28 күн бұрын
People forget that NONE of the Max films have ever had mega-box office. The first one was hugely profitable, but only because of its 350k budget. "The Road Warrior" - often said to be the best in the series - was number *FIFTY* in 1982 at the box office (yes, *50* - not even in the top 49 films). "Thunderdome" wasn't even close to what they wanted, either at the box office and wasn't even in the *top 20* movies that year. "Fury Road" made the MOST of all of the films and even that didn't even break $400m worldwide. Every. Single. Mad Max movie, apart from the very first one (and again, that's mainly because it had a super-tiny budget), have been box office disappointments. These are very weird, dark, nihilistic films and it's just not the kind of series that's ever lead to giant box office. Ever. Not one of them. They always, however, become loved once they reach home video. So yeah, "Furiosa" is incredible, but unfortunately, it was never going to do very well, theatrically. There *is* a fan base, but it's pretty niche, compared to the bigger titles. I think the studio HOPED it would, but the Max series just never does that well. The reason the studios keep giving Miller money to make them is because they *know* they're good movies - and will eventually make a profit. What's SAD is that "Mad Max: The Wasteland" with Hardy, the third in this new trilogy, may not get made because of how poorly "Furiosa" is doing this weekend. Hopefully they'll keep it in theaters, as the word of mouth is phenomenal - and HOPEFULLY, Warner Bros. will fund "Wasteland", regardless, to let him finish it. Just like the other films in the series, I think people will find it and love it once it hits streaming and video. In short, while the headlines are that "Furiosa" is having a bad weekend - technically, it's doing basically what the films in this series always do. I think the studio should leave it in theaters throughout the summer and not dump it onto streaming too fast, because I think it will keep going enough to justify it. But yeah, because of how popular the series has *become* (especially the original trilogy), it's often forgotten that these movies are just *never* major box office hits and that the studios always end up making the most from them *after* theatrical. But that said - as with all of them - this needs to be seen on a big screen, so I hope more people do that.

It was mid. Just saw it. Mediocre acting, watered down action vs Fury Road. Not a very compelling story just generic action shlock. The ending lacked any real impact and the prequel subtext removed a lot of the tension from the film and undercut the majority of the story beats. I'm a huge fan of all the other mad max films but this one was in my opinion the weakest entry so far. It had great ideas that I do not feel were well executed. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I love the psychological dissonance between Dementus & Furiosa, George Miller really rode a fresh line of love/hate leaning more hate imo, an awful cinematic Stockholm Syndrome. at the end she shed tears when Dementus recognized her. all the scenes where dementus both told her she could look away from 5-bike game but also made her look at her mother's death, offered her the teddy bear which she claimed and held, retrieved her from the tunnel people and placed her on his chariot, and then claimed as his daughter, possibly in both affection and ownership, and then give her up for negotiation, she was so at the mercy of his see-sawing protection experiencing both hatred for her tormentor and acknowledgement of a protector role. it adds an incredible layer of complexity to me for the origin story.

I like how it subtly explains why Bullet Farm and Gas Town send their own war parties in Fury Road to help Immorten Joe recapture his wives. In Furiosa the events of that show Joe installed one leader and recovered Bullet Farm in the aftermath.

It's a real shame that Furiosa isn't performing at the box-office the way we hoped. Even Fury Road only made $380 million worldwide despite being universally hailed as a masterpiece. Did anyone else remember there was a “goon” character that waited by Furiosa during the scene when they were dragging Jack in the circle. Before Dementus hung her by the arm, he asked his henchman if he had “lost his nerve” or if he had gotten soft to all the violence. When Dementus comes down from his truck, you briefly see his henchman put his machete blade back in its sheath. Immediately after this, you see her arm is dangling, and she has somehow escaped. i saw somebody else give an opinion saying that the music (or lack thereof) is meant to show the profound sadness in this world. there are many points in fury road that glorify the violence, and make things such as the war its sacrifice as something epic and glorious. however, in furiosa, it focuses on the pain and struggle of this world. when the war boy throws the grenade and he goes with it, there’s no music glorifying his sacrifice, it instead is silent to show the tragedy of a man killing himself for a person that does not care about him in any way.

The movie was so absurdly entertaining and I say that as someone who wasn't as big of a fan of Fury Road as others. To me, this was BETTER than Fury Road. For one the range of acting overall was better. Hensworth was incredible. The child actress who played the young Furiosa was great, the Protororious Jack guy was great, Taylor was great. But the visuals and set pieces holy shit..... Unfrigginreal. I literally said 'wow'... Aloud to myself in a movie theatre when the trucker chain balls thing started spinning during the one big war party chase scene. Movie was fantastic and its a damn shame the box office numbers were down because to me, I felt I got 100% my moneys worth seeing THAT on a big screen. Furiosa was 100% the best example of the movie in recent years (even more so than Dune) that I felt absolutely needed to be seen on a huge screen.

I like the idea that the seed was planted in his corpse. There's no way he could survive long enough for the tree to grow that large, but Furiosa creating life from the death of her trauma is a nice fulfilment of her arc and is a good base to be misconstrued or exaggerated into the more Prometheus style vengeance of the legend.

There aren’t too many movie characters I’ve seen that have the presence and impact of Praetorian Jack, in a pretty brief role too. It’s like the whole film was building up to that introduction given how important he was to Furiosa’s arc. Miller is a master at visual storytelling and sometimes it just took a brief glance at Jack to *feel* his presence. An iconic character and an iconic performance from Tom Burke IMO.

I dont think people here have watched the movie and are simply judgmental just for the heck of it. Furiosa is a cinematic masterpiece that has left me speechless! The time and patience one has to dedicate their life, in making a lifetime work, coupled with an unquenchable thirst to provide sheer awe and cinematic brilliance technically and emotionally, stands out at every single minute throughout the movie. Apocalyptic genres are quite easy to enact, since they require an astute understanding of how humans operate on baseline consciousness. George Miller did a fantastic job at delivering this exact sentiment. I am overall pleased with the aesthetic cinematic treatment compared to its predecessor for continuity and not overdoing with CG. Dramatic pacing and character introduction is given justice with sufficient screen time to develop their story arcs and finale plot. The wasteland is merciless and spares nobody. Flawless execution 10/10.

What I really love about the movie is that it subverts expectations. Not only in the revenge element, which was awesome. I was fully expecting the movie to end in a big action spectacle of the citadel vs demento's people, but instead they skipped through the whole "40 day war", because that wasn't the point. The point was furiousa and her personal revenge story. Instead of a big spectacular action sequence, we got a personal revenge climax that shocked everyone. Really great stuff.

Mainly the final war should have been the continuation of Furiosa's growth and it gets glossed over pretty hard. Furiosa's growth doing the transports is also glossed over, all of a sudden the man she's falling for is like "You've made it, you've done enough" basically. It felt like because of the budget the battles just aren't the same as the last release. It hampers her story to me. The end in general is odd, I get the need to want to connect it back - but why the nostalgia drop to the degree of even having Fury Road as the end credits. Why?

The thing I like best about Furiosa is that it’s not only great on its own, but enhances the story of Fury Road as well. Furiosa’s desire to find “the green place” in FR makes a lot more sense now due to originally being her home, and it makes the twist that it’s been reduced to a barren wasteland hit a lot harder. We also get to see how Immortan Joe’s wives are treated like before they go on the run with Furiosa, and what made Furiosa decide to aid them: so that they didn’t have their lives torn away from them without recompense like she did. Since if she can’t give herself a new beginning, then doing so for these women who’ve done no wrong is the next best thing. And so as someone who went into it with low expectations, it’s definitely a worthwhile addition to the Mad Max universe.

The critics who compare this movie to Fury Road and find it lacking are wrong i think. It's simply not trying to do the same thing as Fury Road. I realized early into the movie that this was a revenge movie, plain and simple. That's really the engine that's driving it, and it's pretty amazing. The action sequences are sometimes long, but very well thought out so they don't *feel* long. The detail Miller put into every scene, and the way he designed the camera movement was brilliant. I loved it!

no fury road but furiosa stands on its own and lives up to the world of mad max imo. wasnt sure how i felt about the movie right after seeing it but then hours later i had an urge to re live those moments and see it again so i know it was good.

This was an OK follow up. The story, characters and acting are dope. Loved the relationship with Jack. But it’s really hard to look past the heavy use of CGI when Fury Road felt and looked so practical, and I think that’s why that movie was so enjoyed. Also, that random Max cameo, like, cmon.

The first thing I said to my buddy last night after watching Furiosa was "this should have been a tv series." Whether that was from greed on my part or just wanting the world fleshed out more, who knows. It was very different from Fury Road but I enjoyed it. I would have loved to see a bit more from the oasis area in the beginning but I understand the need to jump into the wasteland. They could have easily done stories from each "town" in the wasteland. A film centered around the 40 day war would have also been interesting. Either way I was happy with what we got and am grateful George intends on making another.

@@kp1x literally this. loved the chapter storytelling. and “more fleshed out?” it went much deeper plot-wise than fury road.

Absolutely fantastic addition to the Mad Max series. I simply hope it can do well enough at the box office that they let Miller make whatever he wants next.

I'm so glad Furiosa and Jack never became a full on romantic connection. They're close, and it's hinted near Jack's end, but never quite becomes "love". I'm glad Furiosa as a character is held back from having that connection.

Me, too. Loyalty and support does not always have to be romantically motivated. It can also come from a pure heart.

This movie is a masterwork of action despite its visual flaws. George Miller’s new inventions such as the motorcycle chariot, the bobbyknocker, the parachutes were all insanely badass. Such good stuff that made up for the lack of practical effects.
