I’ve got this exact model on a 22 reg , same colour, and can’t fault it. Build quality is good, reliability great and it’s nice to drive too. It’s also built and designed in Europe, I would definitely recommend this car.

I've had one for 18 months, great family car. Got it because of its greater ride height over potholes and we transport a 93 year old relative who can't do low cars. My 71 plate in "4" trim has 158bhp, not sure when they reduced it to 138. It's also got a button to the right of the steering column to turn off lane keep assist, but to be fair it's not too aggressive. Love the fact that at 3 years old it's still got more warranty than anything brand new and German!

They trimmed the range back to this one engine this year, not sure why

We have a 68 plate Sportage it had 16000 miles when we got it now on 87000 miles , the only problem it has was a headlight bulb going , fantastic reliable car

Would be good to see things like boot space (for pushchairs) ease of things like iso fixes and safety ratings if you’re reviewing this as a possible family car

These are great cars, yes a crossover but just low enough to still drive nicely like a hatch

Ive always liked these. Sat in one when i was deciding which car to get a while ago. A good looking car. Was bit too pricey for me sadly. Happy with the 2022 Peugeot 208 i got though...now that car is a perfect fit for me!

Hadn’t considered Kia before, but this looks pretty and well spec’d. If I was looking to buy, I’d definitely consider this on it featuring a manual gearbox on its own.

I received a 2024 Kia x-ceed estate rental last summer which I drove over 1200km on motorway and city condition. A fantastic family car that swallowed 4 large suitcases very easily. As you said on this, the steering was the worst part of the experience. Not just extremely light, it would fight me every time I wanted to overtake, exit a ramp or change direction. Only wanted to go on a straight line. It grew very tiresome after a couple of hours of driving.

Very nice. I was a passenger in one once or twice and I rather liked it. However, I'm not so keen on SUVs so I would just buy the Ceed hatchback or Proceed.

Certainly one of the more palletable new cars on the market, but still way too much technology for me. I have not heard one positive comment from anyone about mandtory lane keep assist or audiable speed limit warnings (which are usually wrong from what I have heard) so I seriously don't get why there is so much apathy amongst the people who drive these new cars and why there isn't more active opposition to them.

Agreed, I will never buy a car with these technologies! I will keep my 2014 Hyundai i30 diesel until it dies or I need something bigger.

I have a 2020 Xceed 3 1.0, had it 18 months and apart from the wiper jets failing (not covered by the warranty btw) it's been faultless.

The Xceed has a tons of positives going for it, however, I find it difficult to get in and out of (maybe it's my age?) and my 2020 seems to have a quite sloppy gearshift.

I had a seed station wagon in 2009 it was when updated Version arrived kia where known for cheap dull not good cars. At the time I leased cars and the Kia came up top of the range model extremely cheap with nail deposit, The clever people at Kia had realised they needed to get the cars out on the street. The look of them would sell them they weren’t wrong. Mine was fantastic

3:49 Merc made sh*te manuals hence why they pushed you towards the automatic as it's better suited gearbox for their cars. Know you had a manual Merc (which I get) but the way it was designed with the hand parking brake release just showed that the car was not meant to a manual. Even Beemer have lost their "Ultimate Driving Machine" by now going over the autos.

People always say that, but its referring to the W123 era in the 70s so not really accurate any more, like saying Alfas rust, the W204 was on par with the BMW E60

Sure, but the vast majority of people like automatics more, no matter the car. Cant make a normal car for a normal price only a handful die hards will buy.

There's an important reason why the manual gearbox is on the way out. It puts the driver in too much control of the engine and makes it very difficult to comply with emission regulations. On high end cars, even if a manual option has been considered from the start, the extra development cost can easily exceed the profit on the sales of the manual versions and when done late in the design process (looking at you Jaguar), can render the entire line unprofitable!

Something I've wondered is - how EVs will manage in snow and ice, ESPECIALLY, with autobox ?

Depends on the car, and its software. Probably better than a regular auto as they are pretty useless in basic cars, and alot of EVs have dual axle motors so AWD

Manage in what way, if I may ask? Your post seem to imply EVs are presumed to be worse in snow and ice for some reason? Also, any gearboxes at all are exceedingly rare in EVs.

I would never buy a petrol engine car again. Diesels are 40% more efficient, Same amount of Nox as any petrol. If Nox is so bad, why is it not checked at MOT? is it because it does not really exist?

Blanket statements such as that no longer hold true. Efficciency varies greatly with load and revs etc, and petrol engines have steadily been getting more efficient and some can in some cases close in on diesels. Modern petrol engines are more like 5 stroke petrol-diesel hybrids in how they combust fuel.

I absolutely hate it because it's a Kia the engine is there biggest failure point and they will never be as good as certain Japanese brands never there reputation is absolutely shocking
