Yes, average low in January is 21F, high is 42F. That's considered moderate for most cold climates... Wisconsin, Montana, inland Canada, some of those areas have average lows 5F or lower, so it's relatively moderate by comparison. And heating bills can be higher there as well depending on rates. If a heat pump can keep up at 100% capacity then it's relatively moderate and most the inverter heat pumps like the Daikin Fit run at 100% capacity or pretty close at 20F, so the majority of the time it will keep up fine

if you have a heat pump and thats running does the furnace run at the same time? would it be more beneficial to have vrv/vrf heat pump or modulating furnace?
@TheHVACDopeShow2 ай бұрын
Only if you have a furnace and heat pump and the furnace is specifically programmed to run during the defrost cycle, other than that no they won't be heating at the same time because the refrigerant won't be rejecting heat if the air hitting the coil is furnace temps (130-160F~ depending on furnace).

There a toxic smell in my apartment causing static to my lower part of my pant and it's hard to inhale.

Toxic smell causing static? Never heard of that... they're probably two separate issues, static is normally low humidity? If it's carbon monoxide you won't smell it it's an odorless gas

Have you heard anything good/bad about LG inverter heatpumps? I live in upstate NY i have agree to get a 48k LG heatpump and just wanted to get your opinion. It's going to be paired with a 24k air handler (ducted portion) and 2 12k air handlers for parts of the house that are not ducted.

The only issue I saw with them was leaks on a system we were working on before but I think the installer (a different company) did a poor job with the flared fittings and as a result it leaked. The systems themselves are reliable, and overseas their R290 products are very popular.

@@TheHVACDopeShow Awesome i appreciate your feedback. The installer i am going with are an LG PRO Platinum installer. So i am hopeful they know what they are doing. That is also the only thing i have a seen as well, was leaks. A couple of compressor failures i have seen as well, but it comes with a 12 years parts warranty (not 100% sure on labor yet) They were SIGNIFICANTY more affordable then a Mitsubishi unit. (no daikon dealers near me unfortunately)

But that’s Dumb because I have a 80 percent furnace and why does this all happen in 2025
@TheHVACDopeShow2 ай бұрын
I know that's in colorado specifically, Idk where else they're mandating this for retrofit but the regulations are getting kind of annoying... this one makes no sense honestly. So fortunately for now it's contained / state by state, but I believe New Jersey has a similar law from what I've heard but don't take my word for it that was just something I read.

In my opinion, forcing a law like this on the people of Denver creates an unreasonable financial burden that for most will not be able to afford. Now they are forced to into finding an unlicensed contractor that will advertise they can fix/patch the original 80 percent system at an affordable price which could (worse case scenario) cost them their life! In addition, if they decide to move they will most likely not get full price for the home due to the buyer knowing they will have to deal in the future with the cost of replacing the 80 percent system Just something to consider
