It's amazing how similar that engine is to the 1275 in my 69 Midget. All the same hose connections, rocker cover, etc. I did notice the cylinder wall between 1-2 and 3-4 are narrow where 2-3 is wide. Just the opposite on a Midget 1275 where the narrow bit is between 2-3. So that's where I have the head gasket leaks as a result.

Both A Series engines I believe so should be pretty similar. Surprised the cylinder walls differ though.

@@workinprogress1098 Yeah, Me too. Both have 3 main journals and the cranks are similar.

@@workinprogress1098 The 948/1098cc are small block A-series, whereas the 1275cc is the big block. Other differences are a solid crankcase on the 1275, with no tappet chest covers. They are slightly longer also.

i have a 1960 minor 1098cc , i have re placed the head gasket but havnt rely tested her yet shes not on the road still work to be done i now say to people when they say WHEN YOU GOING TO FINNISH HER ITS ON GOING LOL DID THE WATER IN THE RAD GO DOWN OR ANY STEAM COME OUT OF EXHAUST

The water dropped slightly as it circulated around the system, but no steam from the exhaust. Enjoy yours, hope you get it on the road soon. 👍🏼

My 69 morris has just blown the gasket in the same place two days ago........im finishing the job on monday..
