I just realized, while watching this video... You have great Hacking skills... The ability to improvise in a software environment is something that cannot be taught... The term "Hacker" does not simply refer to someone who breaks into networks and computers... In reality a Hacker is a person who is not stopped by an obstacle, but looks for work-arounds to accomplish a particular task... Watching you form that Radius and another place, you said, "There's got to be a way". That is the vocabulary of a true hacker... There's always another way... For me... well, I get goosebumps when I hear someone talking like that... lol You definitely know your stuff and I think that's why I enjoy these videos so much... :-)

DStray Cat It was primarily due to the media for the misconstrued definition of "hacker", after that it was just the general public unknowingly perpetuating it. Another one is "free climb" vs "free solo" from rock climbing, two totally different things.

With regards to using a 2" circle to make a 1" curve and then trimming it is exactly how my teacher told us to to do it in my Autodesk Inventor class.

Holy cow. I just spent a grand on Dolphin. I'll be both over joyed and bummed out if they release turn cam for 360. This looks awesome to use.

Maybe someone mentioned this, but the F360 roadmap says mill/turn is coming on June 20th, and they just posted a video on one of the autodesk youtube channels the other day saying "coming soon" on a CAM demo. We'll see I guess.

NYC CNC John what rapids can your lathe give? The site says limited to 60ipm feed, does that mean 60 on the rapid too?

just thought of another point ; you were having trouble "keeping the line active", I use bricks cad; in there is a feature called " draw line/point by coordinates" in this feature you guide the line build up by specifying direction/ distance ( direction in deg. minutes sec. format ) for each part , hitting next for point 2, etc. hit enter or ok box to stop line building.

Hey John, you just need to turn off 'Allow Grooving' in the Passes tab for a profiling operation. Then the tool won't drop into that groove.
@ScottMoyse9 жыл бұрын
NYC CNC Are you familiar with the Spun Profile tool in the utilities menu of the CAM tab in HSMWorks? That process will be automated in F360 & Inventor HSM, but you have to generate the profile using that tool in HSMWorks. Then select it when generating the profiling toolpath.
@andyvan56929 жыл бұрын
hi, notice you had some problems with the tool path. you could try setting two construction layers, and turn one off ( set the part up as two pieces, one for each end), setting one layers' properties to NON_ print so you don't get this part in the cam conversion. (mainly use bricks cad, should also work on your software) or as a second option set up two drawings one for each side, just swap the piece in the lathe chuck before switching programs.

When you created the arc, it looks like it auto-created a tangent constraint between the bottom line and the arc (that little icon at the intersection of the lower edge and the arc, still there at 1:05). If you click on it and delete it, you can change the arc diameter properly.

Ben Avery That's the answer, also you can sketch everything out and dimension after the lines have been drawn.
@MrDaniell12349 жыл бұрын
NYC CNC sometime you need to remove all the little icon and put them back in it`s a bug, that file I sent you I had to do it to that after putting in dimensions and parameters

How about this >>> same round with the fins popping out from the middle of it by air pressure. The fins would be hinged at the back end and work like cutting blades too. You could put very small springs under the fins in recessed drilled holes to pop them open enough for the air pressure hitting the round to do the rest. The back half of these fins would need some kind of very good reinforcement to act like blades.

when you turn past your part, I always go at least the width of the cut off tool. that way your not rubbing the rear edge of the tool more than the front edge. much bigger problem on abrasive materials than on aluminum.

hold down shift while doing the lines to keep going
@MRDantix9 жыл бұрын
tylor abel actually, just hold shift while selecting the line tool, you can release it then and the line will be kept active.

Hello NYC CNC, YOU WILL Find that if you drill 3/8in. depth x 7/16in. width cavity on the back side of the fusion 360 bullet . That it will not tumble when shot, any shot gun slug needs the cavity to help stabilize it while turning at 1.75 angle cut & .045 depth cut for the capability of turning . try these tips and you will have success with your bullets .

I know you're using Fusion 360 for this, but here's another video showing the tools/techniques you're missing in Solidworks. Revolve dimensions have a few automatic extras. The key here is to use a center-line in the revolve sketch and then use that for dimensioning. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZzJZHyabM2pbck I'm just hoping to help you like you've helped all of us.
