The model that I submitted to the forum was actually based on two straight slots. In this video, I decided to add a bit of challenge to the shape by using a non-straight slot for the base. The surface should look much better if you try this with 2 straight slots or 2 non-straight slots. The best results should come from using splines to replace the tangent arcs of the slot sketches. I am still experimenting with that. If time permits, I might post a follow up.

Hiding body from view when extrude - excellent trick. New to me. I guess it works with combine tool as well. I love your case studies videos. Great work for our community man!

Excellent video! Some great new (to me) ideas :) When I have to go to the forums with a problem, I for one am always happy and relieved when Peter takes notice ;)

Yep, he is widely recognised as the surfacing expert. Always learn a lot from reading his forum posts. He has left a few comments on my videos as well!

12:40 so stitching surfaces closed will automatically make a solid body? I thought you would have to boundary fill.

good day. I cannot advance after minute 5.02. I can't extrude the control point spinline. The curvature doesn't allow it, am I missing something?
@TheTechnoaddict3 жыл бұрын
I think making sketches and using the form workspace gives most control for the surface.
@Fusion360School3 жыл бұрын
I do think that sculpting is probably more appropriate here. Unfortunately, the form workspace is still very foreign to me. Will definitely need to learn more in order to do this with sculpting.

@@Fusion360School the fact that u can combine sketches with form is very interesting. Recently dove deeper into the form workspace and it amazes me everytime.
@Fusion360School3 жыл бұрын
I have always been concerned with the non-parametric workflow of forms. It does not seem like I can easily retrace my steps when sculpting. But then again, my understanding might be wrong. I would be very interested to learn how to use sketches to control a form. I have not seen that before.
@TheTechnoaddict3 жыл бұрын
@@Fusion360School u can loft from sketches in form workspace, u can pull the vertices to a sketched spline,... For me the combination of sketches and form is very powerfull.

Unfortunately, this channel is more geared towards the intermediate user. I don't really have videos that cater to a beginner. Though I might consider doing some in the future. I think there are other channels that do a good job of making beginner type videos.

Hey Andy just a little protip; under the settings options for KZbin videos is a feature to change playback speed for those videos where the author speaks a bit too quickly or you need a little more time to digest the information! Additionally, some clever folks out there have designed chrome extensions and scripts that you can paste into the url of the video to more precisely tune the playback speed in the event that the built-in speed options are too far apart! I tend to use the script myself because of my abysmal attention span and have found 1.3x speed to be the sweet spot. Let me know if you'd like me to send you that script, I'd be glad to help!
