I've just started the transition from Solidworks of to Fusion. It's been a hell of a lot easier than I anticipated and that's all thanks to the videos like this that you guys put out. You really are community driven and really help people learn. Thanks for all that you do!

Thanks Ronald. As an ex-solidworks user, it is clearly worth making the transition. Once you get the structure of a Fusion 360 design and how joints work you will be much faster at designing.

Bryce Heventhal + Ronald Finger You are right, I seem to be able to design ready-made products faster in Fusion 360 than when I used SolidWorks. It is now my go to parametric CAD software. The rendering, CAM capabilities is just as impressive. Still doesn't have all the full features in Inventor or SolidWorks but its growing fast.

This video is so old and I’m more than year ago started using Fusion360 in CAD, only today I got about Alt+CMD! Thank you! =)

would of ben nice to see how you got the crease from the shaft into the paddle piece?

Thanks for this video. The ALT+Drag was frustrating me... I didn't realize that to get the additional faces, you have to "pause" (release the left mouse button) during the drag. Re-click the left mouse button(ALT still pressed) to continue making new faces. Repeat as necessary. Although you didn't explicitly mention it, I could see you pause during the video. I finally understand how to do it.

This technique took me forever to find because there was no set keywords I could think of to search for this technique in general! LOL I ended up typing "raise and add a face fusion 360" and found your video!

Very excited to learn more about Fusion 360. Coming from a 3ds Max background I can create elements that otherwise were nearly impossible using poly modeling techniques. Though one question; Is there anything like the 3ds Max Symmetry modifier? I know you can create > mirror, but this isn't the same. This just duplicates the object and mirrors it. The Max symmetry will perform a mirror operation on the object itself. Confusing lol

Hey David, while in the sculpt environment you can (hit the purple blog on the tool bar) there is a symmetry option in the tool bar. Here you can either produce a symmetry to the current tspline body or you can duplicate the body and create a mirror in that form.

nice thought but how would I use your technique to fit to a line equation? Is it engineering if you cannot get the face to comply with some engineering principle?

This video seems to be the same old T-Splines for Rhino from 2011, which is a fantastic tool. Please, make a video for people using Rhino + T-Splines. Whats new on T-Splines? Why should someone move from Rhino to Fusion 360?
@bryceheventhal6779
@bryceheventhal6779 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeorane, Rhino actually licenses T-splines from Autodesk. This is the same core technology seen in Rhino, but with some new features, usability enhancements, and more. I am not sure what all is new since 2011, but i would assume alot. Although there are tons of reasons to switch to fusion, here are a few of my favorites: Integrated parametric modeling, surface modeling, sheetmetal, rending, simulation, cam, drawings.

Bryce Heventhal I thought T-Splines weren't available for rhino anymore at autodesk stopped supporting the plugin. It's good to hear Rhino themselves have picked it up.

2 or 3 months ago I was able to right click a face made in model or patch and choose "change face" or something like that. It would then ask me to put T-splines on it and how much of them, and I could've had them formed just as if the face was made in sculpt mode. Is this feature gone with latest updates, because I found it very useful, especially for modeling that is not conceptual and requires more accuracy with dimensions?

@Павел Медведев Is correct. You must Right click the top level in your Fusion 360 design and choose "Do not capture design history". Then under the Modify drop down you will find the command "Edit face". Hope this helps
@ScottMoyse
@ScottMoyse 6 жыл бұрын
Bryce Heventhal why can't this be in history mode as well?
@josipandresic881
@josipandresic881 6 жыл бұрын
Probably because sculpt mode doesn't capture design history itself either. So when editing a face with T-splines is involved, it would interfere with parametric history of model and patch modes.
