Fusion (sync) backup camera failure fix.

This is a quick video on how to fix your back up camera using basic tools if you are currently getting this message or your backup camera is not working. This is shown on a 2014 Ford fusion. But this will also work on any other SYNC Ford models.  this message appears when the camera goes bad, and this fixed can be done for $50 and in under 20 minutes. BEFORE YOU START TAKING IT APART, Try removing the SD card in the center storage and put it back in. I was halfway through the disassembly and I saw a comment on another video from 6 years ago suggesting it. It totally worked.

I find three things neat woth this; One, mine is a 2016, but looks exactly the same as yours, two we live in the same state, and three, oir playes are nearly identical. Also gonna have one hell of a day now to do this

Were u able to snap_off the latch assembly, plastic cover on the outside ? ( about 45 secs. video). No luck here...

Hell of a time...but I got it off, by inserting a small screwdriver 🪛 around the latch, and pulled the cover off, .. .. ( Not on the video) LoL

1. Remove felt cover (pop buttons off using pry tool) 2. Pop off cover of center hinge? 3. Unscrew Philips screws on handle and cover 4. Unscrew 3 nuts on each tail light (black) 5. Disconnect tail light 6. Remove 4 bolts 7. Remove T20 screw using a T20 head 8. Disconnect camera

Did all this got the camera installed just made a small hole for my 2014 ford fusion to screw it in then I tied the wires to my left headlight cause of some other KZbin and the camera still ain’t work. Basically asking where the heck do I wire it to get it to work.

If you buy the stock camera it just plugs right in. If you’re adding a camera it’s a whole different story

Given the intermittent functionality of the backup camera, did you first try using CRC Industries Electronic Cleaner or similar on the connectors given they appear to be exposed to the elements to some extent? Going to give this a go first this afternoon. Fingers crossed!

I see the install, re_istall process, but just to be clear, was the main issue, a camera replacement, for a new one?

Save alot of time and just pull fuse and reinstall fuse for backup camera in 30-60 seconds.

@@AutoEmpire-o6c can’t remember. I think I pulled the one for the sync and a few others. Nothing worked. Then I unplugged battery for a day. No dice. So I replaced the camera. No issues since

Are you saying to just unplug and plug back in or just replace it? I think you said replace bc you said something about amazon but wanted to make sure

But nope It didn’t lol I got one on the way from Amazon now- thanks for the video. I’ve been racking my mind around it I was really hoping it wasn’t the sync system.

So I have 2020 ford fusion hybrid plugin. And my ford pass doesn't work. Well after 3 months ford has finally found out why. Well they say that the modem in car is 3g and north America has quit using it and that I would have to upgrade to 4g module and the customer is responsible for the cost. To the tune of $800 and something Canadian funds. I asked ford canada why does my 2020 have 3g but my friends 2017 f150 have the 4g as his still works. Now the only reason I cared was ford dealer told me that because the car was used the other first owner had registered the car with ford pass and that they could start my car from anywhere. So they were going to change out under warranty but yesterday after waiting months for the part ford got ahold of dealer and gave them the 3g excuse. So my problem is why would they put something that doesn't work in newer vehicles. To me sounds like these hybrids were put together with old parts that they could not use in there big sellers like the trucks.
