@@garrethtuite8934 I don't understand how he'd think that difficult and dark topics wouldn't appeal to large audiences. DAO had some dark themes. DA2 did too. Look at Witcher 3, that game has some majorly disturbing stuff in it, but it's still one of the most popular RPGs of the last decade.

Unfortunately fr me it went downhill from there as DA2 was ok but DA3 completely lost me i played maybe 4-5 hours then never played it again. Im in full hope they will one day come back to a more Origins-style kind of game that'll hook me back in the serie

Most definitely and more fleshed out than in inquisition also for humans I would most definitely prefer a tribal/nomadic origin like the Avvar.

My working theory is that any one of them would be recruited one way or another as an Inquisition spy and then sent out to find the agents of fen'harel at which point you must decide between joining Solas or joining the Inquisition, but all of that is just wishful thinking.

Very very VERY cool video. Considering the couple of new factions introduced in Tevinter Nights, maybe some races could have an origin as a Rivaini Lord of Fortune or even a Antivan Crow, a changing nacionality for the next protagonist is something very actracctive too if it were true.

I quite like the sound of the Lyrium Smuggler origin. I'm always a sucker for the "criminal to hero" trope. 'Tis always spicy. I was quite pissed that we didn't get to see much of Cadash's criminal past when we played as them, but I suppose it was at least better than the vague Adaar backstory.

I'd pick a mage Qunari slave. Since my Inquisitor was a Tal Vashot mage. I would love to be a Ben Hassrath agent but I like playing as mages too much 🙂

Antaam Mage as an origin felt weird to me given that their mouths are sewn shut and they are kept on a leash. Thought about it, but ultimately decided against it.

@@LucasRhodan Maybe the mage Qunari slave could have previously been a part of the Antaam before being captured during a battle with Tevinter. Your Tevinter master could have unleashed you and thaught you how to use your magic properly so you could be more useful as a slave. Perhaps in the character creation menu you could be encouraged to give your Qunari cut horns and scars around the mouth to show where your mouth was once sewn shut. Similar to when the character creator in Origins encouraged you to give your casteless dwarf a face tattoo for lore continuity.

I think a Qunari character (one loyal to the Qun) would be, frankly, too hard to write and make sense of given their indoctrination. Absolutely adore the idea of a Slave origins, though.

It'd take some clever writing, but the way I imagined it is that you're somewhat similar to Bull, where you already think for yourself and question things. Which is why I ended the intro to that one with "what choice do you have?"

Pretty sure Soporati origins should be replaced by Liberati origins. Those that are freed from slavery become Liberati, not Soporati. It would also allow for them to be mages.

You're forgetting the most important backstory: the Inquisitor. It would be much better to have them continue as the protagonist against Solas due to the unique connection between them (whether that be friend, foe, lover, whatever). Any new PC will have Solas just reduced to Corypheus 2.0. And with Tevinter Nights establishing the existence of prosthetics in the DA universe, the biggest issue against them continuing is no longer a problem.

I don’t think that slave would be good option. If you remember Fenris - he was broken and full with rage as he got his freedom and also couldn’t abandon his master at first place. And he got his freedom only because he lost his memory for being slave all his life (remember slave elf you rescued in DA2?). It will limit your choice as main hero. Too complicated character for roll play of all kinds of choices.

I wouldn't make Qunari an option for the next protag. A qunari walking around free in Tevinter wouldn't make sense. Also, "slave" should be it's own origin, and then have the races based around it. That includes a captured Dalish, or a branded dwarf. I also think Fog Warrior should be an option, though I would prefer a soporati General in the military. I agree with having a dwarf from the ambassadoria, but I think Kal-Sharok dwarves have something special going on, so having one as a protag wouldn't work. They should be their own main mission into the Deep Roads.
