Fusso is said to be applied very light. That in turn will make it last*forever*. So for $30, not $50, it seems a worthy purchase.

When you have no garage, like me, collinite 845 is the way to go because it can stand a little rain once buffed off. Next I will apply Beadmaker to protect the wax. Super slick paint. I do not mind reapplying a few months later, no hassle at all...

after watching Bryan from apex and this test, all I will be using is Fusso coat. This is the best protection next to a ceramic IM0. I paid 30.00 for a can of Fusso and its been 2 months with just rinsing once a week and washing once every two weeks. (driven daily, in elements for 8hrs, garage parked)

Hands down, Collinite is the most durable wax I’ve ever used. Apply a couple coats before the winter season and this baby lasts the entire season. Multiple car washes during winter and the beading lasts into April. New England has tough winters and I’d never use anything else. Plus, the gloss is crazy good. And the amount you used for that little section would cover the entire car and then some. A bottle should last you years that’s how little you need.

For Collinite, you should use 476s instead of 845. 845 is for quick detailing, not the same level that soft99 is. Good test method, by the way.

Looks more like the difference between paste wax and liquid wax in general? Maybe soft99 v 476 would have been a more fair comparison. I don't have experience with either product, but I would think it would hold up better. Also around the same price gap.

I put 845 in hot water with a spray nozzle on the bottle, then spray it on a foam finishing pad, and apply with a DA. Easy and quick to apply. I understand Fusso is more durable, but I absolutely love the look of 845 topped with Bead Maker. And with the Vette's that hardly ever get driven, the appearance is what im going for over maximum protection.

Fusso offers a level of hydrophobicity that you can't get from anything else except a ceramic coating. It just sheets water exceptionally well. And even in harsher climates it still gives you at least 6 months of protection. On top of that, the tub will last you forever. That's really not bad.

Hey Jimbo, this test was very interesting as many manufacturers are claiming chemical resistance but your test showed that simply touching the paint can have an impact. Liquid and paste waxes still have their place (e.g. short term show waxes) but protection wise they lag behind ceramic and graphite products. Best wishes from Scotland 👍

You should compare the Kiwami vs Collinite as both are just wax. Fusso on the other hand just uses wax as a medium to transfer the PTFTE onto the paint.

Wax is far from dead in the car show world. While I use sealants for durability on my daily driver, I want maximum appearance enhancement on my metallic blue weekend toy Z06. Nothing looks as deep, warm, and wet as a carnauba wax finish. 845 is really a hybrid product, so I use that as my base protection. After a day of curing, I add a layer of sacrificial "show wax". Usually Griot's Best Of Show paste or Adam's Buttery Wax. I have yet to find a way to make the blue paint look better.

It may have just been the camera angle, but it "looked" like when you applied the Fusso Coat it was a much thinner application on the outside where it really broke down uneven. Like you just ran out of product on the applicator pad. Could just be me though.. Either way, that stuff is amazing and seems to be by far the toughest "wax" out there. I'll be ordering some soon.. Good for people in hotter climates like down in the southeast as Fusso did not break down any when Brian from Apex Detail put a heat gun on it and the Collinite 915 he was comparing it against did.. I've been on the fence about those two, but seems like Fusso coat will hold up much better to heat and South Ga is hot AF!!!!!

After being an avid weekend warrior detailer for years, and washing my car every week... I came to the conclusion that after a few maintenance washes, pretty much every product that isn't a professionally applied multi-year ceramic starts to fail. Therefore if you enjoying washing the car regularly you need to get into the mindset that durability of these LSP's just doesn't matter, and start relying on a quick to apply top up LSP every maintenance wash. I like to use traditional paste waxes a couple of times a year, but also use a spray LSP such as Autoglym's Express Wax as a drying aid on every maintenance wash (each week, or 2). That was I always have new protection on the car and the durability of the original paste wax becomes irrelevant. If you wash your car once a month then fantastic, after a simple clean your LSP should still be doing its thing.... But i'd have washed it 4 times by then.

Exactly, no need to agitate or touch the paint unless you really want to remove the protection, perhaps just agitate in the last rounds if no changes take place with the water beading. The glove issue is probably grease or oil, it would be interesting to wash it with ph neutral soap to see if the glove sign marked area is still there afterwards.

I think when you were using iron remover or APC or any other solution it compromised layer of 845 which did not infuse with clear coat well, like the Fusso did, thus by wiping a finger on panel removed layer of protection. This was more evident when microfibre was used. IMHO it was just a matter of time when 845 would have been completely removed by pressure of water, if you were to continue doing touch less testing. For next time around I would like to see two things: 1) perform the touch less torture test without towel for first two chemicals and introduce MFT on third or forth attempt 2) What I would like to see instead of plain jane controlled section, divide it into multiple sections of different ceramic coatings to observe their tolerance level Thanks and let comparisons keep coming!

Fusso is ridiculously hydrophobic. It is a Fluorocarbon type molecule. When they say 12 months, they mean it. I had to remove it with steel wool once and even that was tough. I would practice working with it on a test surface. Because if you don't lay it down the way you liked, you'll probably risk your clearcoat, when you try to remove it. Hey Jimbo I have a suggestion for a torture test. Griot's garage one step sealant vs Meguiars #21 synthetic sealant 2.0. I use griot's garage one step sealant for the last 6 years and apply it with a 6in da polisher and kinda wanna see what it can stand up to. Both have a 24 hour full cure time before there exposed to water

In my opinion I don’t think paste wax has a place in the the detailing world anymore. I use to love paste wax. But I always found it to be a pain to apply and remove. As of now I’m a big fan of tw seal and shine. Thanks to you. I love that stuff. I still have paste wax and things in my garage from the 1999-2000 that I don’t use anymore. I even have Maguires nanotechnology wax still there.

I found that the Collinite only lasted around 2 months. It's more of a show pony than anything else. It provides a really nice warm glow and the initial beading was brilliant but only short lived. Soft 99, I haven't used but the reports for that mob have been ok. I don't like that it's hard to rub off and chalky. These are two very antiquated products and there are many other paste waxes that would leave these two for dead. Bilt Hamber and the TW Graphene infused paste wax are just two that come to mind. There are many others I'm sure other people will mention.

No, 845 won’t break down from wiping it with a towel. I would have to say, any product made will break down when exposed to a plethora of heavy cleaning products. It is the final result that matters to most. Those caring for thier vehicles usually do it on a regular basis.

I like easy on easy off, fusso is the obvious winner though. With so many good spray waxes why bother with paste. You want expensive try polish angel glass coat V2 with cosmic spritz.

Agreed. In today's day and age paste waxes are pretty obsolete. Not for anything more than creating an appearance lol
