I've always thought Futurama as a whole had stronger characters and more emotional stories than the Simpsons. It also has more continuity. Characters acknowledge the passage of time, and plot points from earlier episodes come back.

I think that something Futurama does not get enough credit for is the beginning. The audio, visual, story, and characters, were all there from the beginning. Visually it was great. The Audio was on point. The story was there and set the base for seasons to come. And the characters didn't need to grow into themselves because you knew who they were based on episode 1. The creators knew where the show was going and had it dialed in from the beginning, something that isn't overly common for long running series.

I love this cartoon so much. I witnessed this cartoon completely by accident as a mid teen. Got bored one late afternoon flipping through channels. Till I saw this show on and got turned on with it's wit and humour like halfways through s1. Been a fan ever since. :D

I remember watching the first episode when it first aired when I was a little kid. I'd had to have been 8 years old. The thought of being frozen for a thousand years and losing his family and everything he knew, with no way of going back, made me sad. Lol

5:03 That basically looks like they made a prediction for what Canada is doing now. And I suspect that micro chip prediction before this scene is another prediction that may come true some day. Futurama may end up predicting a lot of things like the Simpsons did, but further into the future. Which makes sense, since they're both made by the same people.

Timestamp 2:18 if you've never noticed before in season 1 episode 1 you can clearly see the shadow of Nibbler, Lela's pet, pushing fry into the freezer.

I love that the internet collectively bullied the studio to pay John more to voice Bender rather than find a cheaper actor for the return of the series. Nobody else could play Bender properly

Futurama is pretty rough on the clip makers I think, because the jokes often need to be in context to land right. Some of the best jokes in the whole show, don't even work as stand alone jokes imo. So great to see you watching this.

I was very excited about this show before it even started airing back in 1999. I loved it so much, but I felt pretty jipped that it was frequently pre-empted by Sunday night football. Waiting a week (or two) just to get nothing was so frustrating. Eventually, it was cancelled. The show didn’t get the exposure it should have until [adult swim] started airing it nightly for five years. Then it got revived.❤️

Futurama is such a brilliant show. I prefer the simpsons merely out of nostalgia + video games. Futurama had an incredible writing cast. People with PhD's in all manner of STEM professions, as well as some amazing comedy writers.
